Cathaoirleach of Clare County Council, Cllr Paul Murphy, is to lead a 160km charity cycle in aid of mental health services in Co Clare on Saturday, June 6. The ‘Mind over Miles' charity cycle, which will benefit the Samaritans (Clare Branch), will begin at Loop Head at 8am, with the riders making their way through County Clare. New figures from the Road Safety Authority show that 15 cyclists in Clare were seriously injured in road traffic collisions between 2021 and 2025. That represents just 1% of the national total of 1,324 serious cyclist injuries recorded over the same period. The RSA says the findings form part of a wider report into cyclist safety, alongside the launch of a new national survey aimed at better understanding the circumstances behind cycling collisions across Ireland. Plans have been unveiled for a multi-million euro development at the former Our Lady's Hospital site in Ennis. The project, known as Páirc Mhuire, is expected to transform the historic site into a major mixed-use community development with homes, commercial space, and public amenities. The development has been described as the largest adaptive re-use project of its kind in Ireland to date. Plans include more than 160 new homes across a mix of existing and newly constructed buildings.
