Free dinners? Vacations? Yeah, that helps. Emotional Stability One of Jim’s friends is dating a woman 25+ years younger, and when asked why, she said: “He’s emotionally stable. He does what he says he’s going to do. He makes plans.” Older men, in many cases, are less glued to their phones, actually know how to have a conversation, and don’t ghost when life gets slightly inconvenient. Some Gen Z guys, meanwhile, are struggling with timidity, fear of real-life interaction, and a failure to launch. Daddy Issues or Dating Wisdom? Let’s be honest... there’s some truth to the idea that some of these girls are looking for a father figure. Not in a weird way, but in a “I never saw a man treat women with respect so I’m craving that” kind of way. But Timmerie and Jim caution us: it’s not all sweet. With big age gaps come: -Power imbalances -Life-stage mismatches (think: he’s planning retirement and she’s picking out throw pillows from the store) -Cultural confusion (she doesn’t know his music, his political history, or what dial-up internet was) The Spiritual Dimension Let’s not forget... spiritual mentorship is key here. These young women are often searching for good men, virtue, and leadership. And those are beautiful desires! But they don’t always need to be fulfilled through dating. Timmerie suggests: -Healing and discernment in friendship and faith -Mentorship from mature men and women (not romantic!) -And yes, a reminder that Jesus is the true Bridegroom

Lots of subjects were covered in a slightly longer episode than normal. Tony Pallotta started training dogs in 1993, with over 25 years of experience thus far, his knowledge and experience has made him a leader within his industry. Like most it is not uncommon he started out in obedience training and found within him the passion and desire to learn, absorb and to become more competent and proficient within. It was with that mindset and goal he began to study and train in the sport of Schutzhund. Once he became proficient in Schutzhund as a successful handler and decoy. He realized early on that he felt there were some key components missing that caused him to raise some questions about what was being achieved and what was being taught to believe in. Subsequently he continued on with his desire to study and research and he began to prepare dogs for protection sports. This tested the handler's skills as well as the dog's skills to work in un-patterned programs. This is known as a real street type application in personal protection for both K9 and Handler. This experience allowed the furthering of comprehension and knowledge base by competing in protection venues such as, K9 Pro Sport's, Sundog Protection Pro Series and Iron dog.His desire to understand and specialize within the field took him to Italy. While in Italy working with Renzo Zolli and his community of training partners reaching into Austria and abroad, there a re-affirmation of skill set and advancement occurred. The realization that there was so much more to learn he continued on his travels to study disciplines and to further acquire a knowledge of skills and excellence, it was then that he landed in the Netherlands and began working with Erik Huft in the KNPV program. This was an unanticipated, eye opening experience for Tony and a catapult into a whole new style of training in the world of working dogs. At that time little was known about the Royal Dutch Police Dog Association Program outside of the Netherlands. New proposed asylum legislation would see the processing time for asylum seekers reduced from 18 months to just three months if passed.The Minister for Justice is seeking approval to progress legislation to address processing times. It would also restrict hearings and see the introduction of a new state body with responsibility for appeals. Dunedin City Council is planning to keep existing speed limits around the city's schools in place, despite a directive from Government. The report being considered at Wednesday's council meeting will recommend all but one school keep its 30km per hour speed limit - with the remaining school only increasing to 50km during non-peak hours. The council has been asked to provide a list of speed limit reversals on 'specified roads' to the New Zealand Transport Agency by Thursday. Dunedin City Councillor Jim O'Malley says these speed limits have been in place for a long time - and many in the community don't want them to change. "We know that when another Government comes in, they'll want them back to where they were before, so it would pretty much be a futile waste of effort, to be honest." Send us a textOver the last 15 years, Steven Antommarchi has held the law enforcement titles of Patrol Officer, Canine Handler, Canine Supervisor, Canine Trainer, and Interim Chief of Police.His first encounter with a K-9 team was in New York City on September 11, 2001. He witnessed a search and rescue K-9 team fighting through horrible conditions, while overcoming serious injury for the sake of saving lives. That encounter made such a profound impression on him that he knew what he wanted to do for the rest of his life.15 years later, on July 7, 2016, in Dallas, Texas, K-9 Officer Antommarchi found himself in the middle of the deadliest attack on law enforcement since 9/11. Jim's next gig is Saturday, March 22 at the Eastwood Farm & Winery at 2531 Scottsville Rd, Charlottesville from 12:30 to 3:30pm. After a twenty-eight year career, Jim O'Farrell retired from the Army about sixteen years ago. Jim has been playing a guitar since childhood and now between being in a band and singing solo, a lot of his retirement is filled with writing and playing music. He told Paul what types of venues he plays, the type of music he plays solo as well as with the band and his method for writing songs. They then had a discussion about the history of the Blues, his musical influences and who some of his favorite artists are, both past and present. They talked about Jim being a Vegan along with the way he has changed his gym time mentality and how that has changed his life for the better. They also spoke about how Jim was affected by his interaction with the USO when he was a young soldier. For about the last eight years, Jim has been a volunteer for the USO at the Richmond International Airport and he told Paul about the mission of the USO and why Richmond is a unique USO Center. They discussed him growing up in northern Virginia and his interests which were motorcycles, playing the guitar and martial arts. Jim told Paul he knew he was going into the military at an early age, but he was the first in his family to make it a career. They discussed his military career including his hardest training and his deployments and then they finished by talking about his three sons
