I caught up with Detroit native and Specs Howard grad, Derek Richards, to talk about the fast-paced, raucous ride across America with four Irish comedians starring in The Irish Comedy Tour. It’s St. Patrick’s Day every day! Check out this episode!
Jane speaks with her dear friend and mentor Dick Kernen. The two discuss the differences between a positive and negative attitude. Jane does her best to convince her friend that he indeed is a positive influence. Of course she spends her days doing the unicorn shuffle and searching for rainbows! Dick Kernen however has never worked a day in his life. Why? Because he loves what he does. Are the two so different? Find out on Voices of Vision.
Jane welcomes her mentor and friend Dick Kernen back on the show as well as her life-long best friend, Nancy Schoenheide-Phares. The three get into a lively discussion about equality, insight, elevating others and remaining relevant in today’s world. Is it Dumb Luck or Divine Guidance?
Dave, Marcco, Melanie and D+ rated sound guy Anthony Slanda welcome Detroit comic and show runner Kristine Vidojevski. We talk about interviewing possible interns at Specs Howard, the ins and outs of Kristine's venue, Comedy on the Rocks in Madison Heights and how having an entertaining, driven, night shift working father had her tip toeing around in grade school but stomping around in college and then comedy. We hit some hate mail, give Kristine an editorial pimping, run our anti social media bit and then Kristine takes on the SDWSU team in the house favorite.
In the second throwback episode, Sasha and Joe chop up and dissect the first two victories from Michigan State's and Michigan's 2017 season, as well as the Chiefs stunning the Patriots, a new segment called "Hot-Take Hotline" and a shout out to Specs Howard and BMA 6-16. Episode recorded early September, 2017.

Specs Howard School of Media Arts is an educational institution dedicated to preparing people for a career in radio and television broadcasting, graphic design and digital media arts. It's named after its founder Specs Howard, born Jerry Liebman in 1926 and a radio pioneer who entertained audiences for 3 decades. Originally the school was opened in 1970 as Specs Howard School of Broadcasting. I remember when it opened. In 2009 the name was changed to Specs Howard School of Media Arts that reflected the broader scope of the training that's offered. It has been an important educational institution for many people who have entered into the broadcast industry by way of having a Specs Howard School of Media Arts education. Alisa Zee is host of this CBS Detroit Radio Sunday Edition, and Specs is her father. She attended Specs Howard, has taught at Specs Howard and has attained many of her goals in broadcasting including her daily stories heard all over the world on iHEARTRadio 24/7 News station. This is a fun show Alisa shared with her father Specs on Father's Day 2015. His legacy in Detroit and in "Media Arts Education" is a legacy that should continue to be documented.
