In this episode of Normal World, Dave Landau and Angela are joined by Derek Richards, filling in for 1/4 Black Garrett. The show opens with Derek portraying Kamala Harris' fictional VP pick, Tim Walz, as a painfully awkward stand-up comic. Guest Adam B. Coleman, author of The Children We Left Behind, shares his story of growing up fatherless—navigating broken homes, homelessness, early institutionalization, and the long-term effects of childhood trauma. He describes life without male role models, bouncing between cities, and how sports and Scouts offered glimpses of belonging that never quite filled the gap. Becoming a father gave him a sense of purpose he never had. The crew dives into America's epidemic of fatherlessness and the cultural decay fueling it—parental neglect, therapy as a bandage, kids raised like friends, not children. Adam challenges how Western society justifies family breakdown while ignoring the emotional wreckage left behind. Through blunt honesty, dark humor, and cultural commentary, the episode explores why stable families matter, how boys become men, and why the consequences of abandonment are too often dismissed. Adam B. Coleman is today's guest and the author of this powerful and timely book, The Children We Left Behind: How Western Culture Rationalizes Family Separation & Ignores The Pain Of Child Neglect. In this episode of "Normal World," Dave Landau and Angela are joined by Derek Richards, filling in for 1/4 Black Garrett. They break down a wild CIA report revealing a Cold War-era encounter where Soviet troops allegedly fired on a UFO — only to be turned to stone by a blinding alien explosion. The KGB file details five humanoids emerging from a downed saucer, merging into a sphere of light, and vaporizing 23 soldiers, leaving only two survivors in the shade. From there, the chaos snowballs: WNBA salaries, MS-13 welfare checks, and Coachella absurdity. Funeral mishaps, casket scams, Detroit gun salutes, and Scooby-Doo logic all make the cut. The crew explores why some women date killers, forgotten sitcom characters, and alien probing theories. It somehow keeps escalating — into purple drink nostalgia, freezer pops, alcoholic freezies, and party nights. Add in a few Beatles lyrics reinterpreted through a very different lens, and it somehow all fits. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
In this hilarious episode of Normal World, Dave Landau and Angela are joined by Derek Richards, filling in for 1/4 Black Garrett, for an absurd, fast-paced ride through news, culture, and deeply personal stories. They open with a sketch about Republican Red wine—an over-the-top homage to Chris Farley—before roasting Katy Perry's all-female Blue Origin launch, featuring Lauren Sánchez, Gayle King, Amanda Nguyễn, Aisha Bowe, and Kerianne Flynn. Coachella's insane food prices, Lady Gaga's antics, and a record-breaking mouth gape all get the Normal World treatment. Angela's chaotic driving and a Buc-ee's sausage mishap set the tone for wild stories—ranging from LSD-fueled concert trips to stadium urinal nightmares. As the jokes keep flying, the episode takes a heartfelt turn with candid conversations about depression, addiction, family trauma, and the long road to healing. Also discussed: Weezer bassist's wife has a run in with police after a shoot out, and were John Lennon and Paul McCartney more than friends? Today's guest on Normal World is comedian Deric Cahill. Tonight on Normal World, Dave Landau, 1/4 Black Garrett, and Angela take on Forever 21's bankruptcy, a Georgia daycare accused of drugging kids with Benadryl, and a Pokémon-shaped Flamin' Hot Cheeto that just sold for nearly $88,000. Meanwhile, ICE agents in Spokane shattered the windows of two suspected gang members who resisted arrest—though the details raise more questions than answers. They break down the newly released JFK files, revealing Oswald's Mexico City trip, CIA surveillance, and mob ties linking Chicago bosses to anti-Castro exiles. Sinatra's secret dealings, Jack Ruby's connections, and Hoffa's disappearance add fuel to the fire. Newly resurfaced JFK Jr. comments about Joe Biden only deepen the intrigue. Young Democratic activist Harry Sisson is caught in a scandal, allegedly convincing multiple women to send explicit photos under false pretenses. His leaked messages inspire a breakdown of the worst Harry Sisson pickup lines. Meanwhile, Elon Musk rescues stranded astronauts while Chuck Schumer mocks taxpayers, exposing the disconnect between Washington elites and everyday Americans. In today's Normal World, Dave Landau, Angela, and Matt McClowry—filling in for 1/4 Black Garrett—tackle the absurdity of the news. Canada moves to ban Pornhub over Trump's trade policies. Tracy Morgan's courtside vomiting incident and Walmart settlement spark debate, while war stories from the Syracuse Funny Bone resurface, featuring entourages crammed into green rooms, surreal Ed Bassmaster shows, and hecklers critiquing Amish Mafia jokes before shows devolve into motorboat contests. The hypocrisy of the Climate Summit is on full display as the Amazon rainforest is bulldozed for a highway built exclusively for world leaders. Bill Gates, private jets, and AI's insatiable water consumption raise fresh concerns. AI-generated comedy flops, while outdated industry figures get roasted. The episode closes with a UK mayor found dead in a crack house, naked in a camping chair—leaving behind a legacy that's both shocking and strangely fitting. Tonight on Normal World, Dave Landau, Derek Richards (filling in for 1/4 Black Garrett), and Angela take on the week's insanity with their signature mix of humor and brutal honesty. Biden's post-presidency career takes an unexpected turn, a goat terrorizes Philadelphia, and Amy Schumer's Ozempic experiment goes hilariously wrong. Meanwhile, a White House fence jumper faces consequences—just not the kind reserved for January 6th defendants. Trump's meeting with Netanyahu sparks debate over his eyebrow-raising plan for Gaza, leading to an all-time Normal World top ten list. Jasmine Crockett's fiery speech fuels the media circus, while Angela reflects on rising dangers in society and the small glimmers of hope. David Hogg, best known for turning tragedy into a career, lands a top DNC role, proving once again that competence is optional. As identity politics reach new heights of absurdity, Dr. Quintessa Hathaway's performance at the DNC steals the show—just not in the way they intended. Planes start falling from the sky, raising serious questions about FAA hiring standards. And through it all—we fight on! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
In this episode of Normal World, Dave Landau, 1/4 Black Garrett, and Angela break down the latest absurdities in politics, culture, and entertainment. Joe Biden, fresh out of the White House, has signed with Hollywood talent agency CAA—because what else is an 82-year-old former president supposed to do? Meanwhile, Ravens kicker Justin Tucker faces disturbing allegations from massage therapists, while a new documentary exposes Hamas executing its own members for violating extremist rules—something college protesters seem oblivious to. Elon Musk is exposing USAID's bloated $50 billion budget, revealing taxpayer money wasted on DEI musicals in Ireland, a Sesame Street workshop in Iraq, sex changes in Guatemala, and a $6 million campaign to promote tourism in Egypt—as if people have never heard of the pyramids. The crew highlights even more absurd spending and questions why American families struggle while their tax dollars fund these projects. Chuck Schumer's We Will Win chant turns into an awkward disaster, activists burn American flags while demanding to stay in the U.S., and leftist protesters blocking highways somehow manage to make L.A. traffic better. A wild Texas crime story emerges as a man is arrested for biting a store clerk while stealing sex toys. And just when it seems like things couldn't get any stranger, Dave recounts witnessing Ted Nugent ride onto stage on a live buffalo before launching into Cat Scratch Fever. In this episode of "Normal World," Dave Landau, 1/4 Black Garrett, and Angela dive into Trump's latest border move — Mexico's sending 10,000 troops, while Justin Trudeau folds faster than ever, suddenly promising more enforcement. Meanwhile, Mexico's in a trade standoff with the U.S., as Trump threatens 25% tariffs unless Mexico cracks down on illegal immigration and drug smuggling. They tear into USAID for blowing millions on nonsense like a transgender opera in Colombia and a DEI musical in Ireland, all while American cities keep getting worse. Chuck Schumer tries (and fails) to make Super Bowl Sunday about tariffs, warning that securing the border could make beer and guacamole too expensive. Nobody's buying it. Democrats are losing Gen Z, corporate DEI is crumbling, and their bench of new leaders is nonexistent. Then, somehow, it turns into a deep dive on foot fetishes, Tarantino's thing for dirty feet, and why barefoot travel should be a crime. This spirals into a rant on underwear, the nightmare of wearing sandals on planes, and the secret horror of TSA checkpoints. The Grammys get roasted — Kanye's humiliation stunt, Billie Eilish making Bond music depressing, and Hollywood's total disconnect from reality. The airline disasters keep stacking up, including a co-pilot literally jumping out of a plane midair. And to wrap it up, Killer Mike is suing the Grammys for “emotional distress,” proving once and for all that the name doesn't quite fit. While domestic areas like Appalachia and North Carolina reel from hurricane devastation and lack of federal relief, the crew questions misplaced priorities and potential corruption in foreign aid allocation. The discussion heats up with a Canadian mayor's refusal to fly a Pride flag during Pride Month, igniting debates on government mandates, cultural values, and free speech. In “Trans News,” they humorously congratulate biological male Alex Consani for winning Woman of the Year at the U.K. Fashion Awards, poking fun at awards culture and gender identity politics. The team also critiques efforts to rewrite Alcoholics Anonymous literature to include gender-neutral pronouns, questioning identity politics' place in recovery programs. They then turn to Cesar Hernandez, a convicted murderer who escaped custody in California, imagining the challenges of tracking him in a sanctuary city. Closing with humor, they riff on rumors of Elton John's blindness, celebrate his legacy, and laugh over Theo Von's viral quip comparing Wayne Gretzky to Princess Diana, hilariously tying Gretzky's iconic mullet to Diana's regal style. The hosts humorously critique Biden's claims of non-interference with the Justice Department, raising questions about political fallout and public skepticism. The discussion humorously shifts to high-profile pardons, speculating on whether the Tiger King deserves clemency, and examining the absurdities of crime dramas, hit men, and surveillance. They revisit infamous cases like JonBenét Ramsey and the Menendez brothers, sharing theories and reflecting on the enduring fascination with sensationalized crimes. In lighter segments, the hosts share bizarre real-life stories, including delivery job mishaps and unexpected encounters, while hilariously recounting experiences in Detroit's strip club scene. They contrast international norms, noting the stark differences between Canadian brothels and Detroit's chaotic establishments, adding their signature comedic twist. The episode also examines Belgium's groundbreaking law granting sex workers maternity leave and pensions, sparking debate on societal norms and workers' rights. The satire sets the stage for a comedic dissection of the election's aftermath, featuring sharp critiques of progressive policies like taxpayer-funded surgeries for trans prisoners and the theatrical collapse of Kamala Harris' campaign headquarters. The conversation expands to cultural absurdities, shining a spotlight on "The View's" escalating ridiculousness. The team humorously critiques Whoopi Goldberg's recent controversy involving a Staten Island bakery and revisits Kelly Osbourne's viral gaffe, exposing the hypocrisy of virtue-signaling elites. They then delve into Russia's nuclear threats in response to Ukraine's U.S.-supplied missile strikes, addressing Sergei Markov's ominous warnings about a potential nuclear war by Christmas with sharp commentary that blends humor with sobering geopolitical reflections. The humor broadens to include reflections on comedy careers, critiques of modern entertainment, and a hilarious analysis of Jaguar's bizarre new ad campaign. The team also explores vaping culture, poking fun at disposable vapes and their advanced technology, likening them to items more powerful than the tech used to reach the moon — all while noting their strawberry-scented absurdity. In this episode of Normal World, hosts Dave Landau and 1/4 Black Garrett tackle the week's most pressing political topics with their signature mix of wit, humor, and unfiltered commentary. The trio opens with a sharp critique of modern politics, including government overreach, media hypocrisy, and the erosion of personal freedoms. The team dives deep into RFK Jr.'s health policies, hilariously mocking the corporate media's defense of junk food and its chemical-laden offerings. With pointed humor, they dissect the absurdity of comparing natural ingredients to artificial concoctions, while questioning the broader implications of RFK Jr.'s role in a future administration. From seed oils to Fruit Loops, no stone is left unturned in their comedic roast of food regulation and media narratives. Next, they take aim at late-night television, contrasting the current, overly politicized landscape with the comedy of yesteryears. Jay Leno's road-dog spirit and his unexpected stays at Hampton Inns spark a nostalgic discussion about authenticity, while Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel's pandering to the establishment earn the team's sharpest barbs. The episode heats up as Alex Jones joins the show, sharing insights into his ongoing battles with the legal system, the deep state, and the mainstream media. Jones delves into the challenges faced by Infowars, detailing the politically driven lawsuits and bankruptcy proceedings that have attempted to silence him. His revelations about secretive auctions, attempts to control his brand, and the erosion of First and Second Amendment rights highlight the growing concern over lawfare and political censorship in America. Jones provides shocking details about a rigged auction orchestrated by the Justice Department to sell off his assets, including the rights to his name and likeness, violating constitutional protections. Despite a judge's ruling against the auction, Jones describes the brazen actions of the Democrat-backed consortium that manipulated the process to its advantage. The group's tactics, including using inflated judgments as leverage, underscore the weaponization of the legal system to target dissenting voices. The discussion turns to the broader implications of media lies and political lawfare, with Jones pointing out the hypocrisy of figures like Rachel Maddow and Anthony Fauci, who allegedly profited from spreading misinformation. The team explores why such figures escape accountability while conservatives face relentless persecution, calling for a decisive counteraction to reclaim the justice system from Soros-backed officials. Jones wraps up his segment by assuring fans that Infowars continues to operate despite relentless attacks, even as he predicts that the legal battles waged against him and others are merely the “dying gasps of the deep state.” He encourages supporters to follow his updates on Infowars.com and X (formerly Twitter), reaffirming his commitment to free speech and the truth. The humor escalates with absurd scenarios featuring Tyson, Logan Paul, and satirical matchups over Burisma shares. They seamlessly blend cultural commentary with sharp comedic timing. Shifting to politics, they roast MSNBC's Joe Scarborough and his highly publicized meeting with Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago. They explore the broader decline of mainstream media, critiquing its alienation of moderate audiences through relentless woke narratives. The conversation expands to highlight cultural shifts, from Hollywood's retreat from DEI departments to changes in tactics by outlets like CNN and MSNBC. They frame these changes as a response to the public rejecting divisive narratives. Elon Musk is discussed as an example of the pendulum swing, with his liberal roots giving way to support for Trump-era conservatism in reaction to the woke left's overreach. The humor crescendos with a hilarious take on Spirit Airlines' bankruptcy, imagining it as a reality TV show featuring outrageous employee interactions and bizarre customer experiences. The hosts riff on Spirit's marketing, comparing it to mainstream media's desperation for relevance. They cap off the segment with a "trashier than Spirit Airlines" list, featuring comically exaggerated scenarios that leave no topic untouched. Rap mogul Diddy denied the fourth assault allegation he has received and stated, “I will fight for my name.” The allegations are heinous and chilling, but should we wait for more evidence before we completely condemn him? The guys also give a tribute to TV comedy legend Norman Lear, who passed away at the age of 101. They also share their thoughts on Grand Theft Auto VI and have an EXCLUSIVE interview with Adam Johnson, the podium guy from January 6.Featuring guests Austin Robertson and Derek Richards.
Today we're joined in-studio by Derek Richards, comedian and actor, to talk about some classic drinking stories. Chad comes out as “soberphobic” as they reminisce. Chad and Derek give their take on Matt Rife's new special and the criticism around it. A house in Virginia blew up in spectacular fashion. Reports on the suspect are strange to say the least. Senator Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) wants illegal aliens to fight in the U.S. Army as a way to become legal citizens. Is this a great idea, or will it only encourage more illegal immigration? John Kerry says there should be no more coal-fired plants in the world after flying in on his private jet. The man's hypocrisy knows no bounds. It's a week before Thanksgiving; and while we often think of expressing gratitude to God for things like family, friends, good health, &tc., my buddies (and periodic co-hosts) Derek and Steph join me to discuss "odd things" for which we are thankful. With this as our ultimate purpose, we talk about cars, art supplies, collectibles, church organs, and a couple other things, somehow finding lessons that are relevant to faith, personal development, and entrepreneurship! I had a good time recording this episode, and I think you'll find it fun, helpful, and thought-provoking.
We're joined in-studio by comedian Derek Richards to talk about the current state of comedy. Derek talks about his start in comedy 30 years ago including some of his craziest hotel stories. Chad and Derek reminisce about drinking during the holidays and some of their best stories from doing comedy in Las Vegas. Bill Maher ripped woke college students on his podcast with Neil deGrasse Tyson, and he's completely right. Colleges are indoctrination centers that have essentially banned comedy. The Army is putting white males in its ad campaigns, so we're definitely going to war, but at least we can try to have a laugh in the interim. I do something totally different this episode! My friends and would-be co-hosts Derek Richards ("the greatest realtor in America") and Stephan du Plooy of Motion Media join me and the three of us share our favorite movies, why we love them, how they motivate us, and what they teach us that can be applied to personal development, entrepreneurship, and faith! I wrap up the discussion by recommending a little-known, but powerful movie that will help you live a life of God-centered heroism in a culture that often rejects truth, goodness, and beauty.

You can also hear him on the air via the SiriusXM Satellite Radio and the infamous Bob and Tom Show. Derek and I talked about touring together, how the Irish Comedy Tour came about and his experience with “cancel culture”. Enjoy!

This beautiful song is about The Queen of the Sea ~ Mamãe Yemanjá. I’m sure I was a mermaid in a past life as I’m much better at gliding through the sea than walking on land these days so I connect in a knowing way with this sacred song. I remember hearing it in ceremonies years ago and thought it had an oriental feel. I never seemed to have the words to sing along with at the time but now I do hooray! I think it goes very well with the dreamy harp melodies. There are a couple of nice surprises to listen out for too. Here are the lyrics and translation. Please relax and enjoy. Janaina Odoiá Iluminai minhas profundas águas Para eu decifrar mistérios do meu mar Nesse meu mar de emoções Rainha vem me iluminar Iemanjá princípio gerador Amor fundamental tão puro e maternal Iemanjá vem confortar Oh! Janaina Odoiá ~~~~~~~~ The moonlight became a silver ray Illuminating the sky and the sea foam A gorgeous gleam on the sea shore I see Mother Yemanjá Here she comes, here she comes along with her mermaids To bless us, Queen Yemanjá Lady of the waters, you are Mother Oh! Janaina Odoiá *a traditional greeting to Yemanjá Illuminate the depths of my water So that I may decipher the mysteries of my sea In this my sea of emotions The Queen comes to illuminate me Yemanjá, the creative principle Fundamental love so pure and maternal Yemanjá comes to comfort Oh! Through this historically difficult time, one shining light that has emerged is the expansion of mental health therapies made possible through innovated technology and the use of smart phones and tablets. It is no longer necessary that we find a local therapist we can physically go see to talk through our struggles, the rise of digital mental health companies, rooted in real scientific research, have changed the game in terms of how we can receive mental and behavioral health care. Today we speak with Dr. Derek Richards, the Chief Scientific Officer of Silver Cloud Health about this very topic.
Derek reflects on the reality of gentrification and how it is changing Tottenham. The Black Voices Collection is a series of anecdotes and reflections portraying the realities of being Black and British - the highs, the lows and all that's in between.

It's a lively new episode of the Sal and Bob show where the guys go to Mount Pleasant, Michigan, to prepare for their show benefitting Michael J's benefit motorcycle run called “Fun Before The Run". Bob completely blows it on this episode, not understanding that people are riding motorcycles in this event and not actually running. The boys talk about the death of Eddie Money, NFL predictions, Derek Richards in Ireland, and Carrie Underwood's song that sounds an awful lot like someone's else's. Felicity Huffman's sentencing, Lori Loughlin's chances. Sal brings up the continuing manufactured controversy about Dave Chappelle's and Bill Burr's recent specials, as well as the real controversy over the hiring of a comedian with previous racist comments, and the overdue hiring of an Asian player on SNL. Kenan Thompson and Tina Fey round out the discussion. Big fun on this edition of The Sal and Bob Show.

Sal and Bob go to legendary Peter Luger Steak House in Brooklyn, New York. They joke about the cash only policy of the restaurant and wonder what happens if you try using a credit card. The guys kibitz about Adam Sandler's Thanksgiving song and Bob is intrigued by Sal's cousin Rocco, from whom Sal is buying a car on this trip. They complain as usual about how bad the Detroit Lions suck, then introduce Derek for a lively interview about the comedy biz, overcoming cancer, and some funny stories about the road, and dining in Vegas. Derek winds it up with a hilarious story about medicating his ex mother in law's coffee to get some peace.
