Send us your feedback — we're listeningMorning Prayer — When I Feel Overwhelmed and Need to Release My Burdens to God Psalm 55:22 Live from London, England — where faith meets the world in daily prayer and global hope  Rio de Janeiro • Madrid • Johannesburg • Manila RELEASE • REST • TRUST  morning prayer when I feel overwhelmed • prayer to release my burdens to God • Christian prayer for anxiety and stress • prayer when life feels heavy • prayer to let go and trust Jesus  Psalm 55:22 (NIV)  “Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.” This is your morning prayer to release what feels heavy and to begin the day with a lighter heart. If you have woken carrying concerns, or your mind is already full, this moment is for you. Jesus meets you here—not at a distance, but close, present, and ready to carry what you cannot. Father, in the name of Jesus, I come to You as I am. You see what I am holding. You know what is weighing on me. And through Jesus, You invite me to bring it to You. So I pause here. Before the day gathers pace, before the pressure builds, I bring everything into Your hands. Jesus, You said to come. So I come. I bring the concerns that sit quietly in my thoughts. I bring the things I cannot resolve. I bring the weight I have been trying to carry on my own. I place it all before You. I do not need to hold it any longer. I release the tension in my mind. I release the heaviness in my heart. I release the fear of what today might bring. I release it to You, Jesus. And now, I receive. I receive Your peace. I receive Your strength. I receive the quiet assurance that You are sustaining me. You are not asking me to carry everything— You are asking me to trust You with it. So today, I will move forward step by step, not weighed down, but supported by You. Jesus is with you now. You are not alone in this moment. Across the world, hearts are lifting their burdens. From Rio de Janeiro to Madrid, from Johannesburg to Manila, Jesus is bringing rest and sustaining those who feel overwhelmed. Father, I trust You. Through Jesus, I release this day into Your care. I walk forward lighter. In Jesus' name. One Year Bible Podcast: Join Hunter and Heather Barnes on the Daily Radio Bible, a daily Bible‑in‑a‑year podcast with 20‑minute Scripture readings, Christ‑centered devotion, and guided prayer. This daily Bible reading and devotional invites you to live as a citizen of Jesus' kingdom, reconciled, renewed, and deeply loved. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible for May 11th, Day 131 on our journey through the Scriptures. Join Hunter, your Bible reading coach and brother, as we read from 2 Samuel 19–20, Psalm 55, and Matthew 28. In today's episode, we journey through King David's grief, political challenges, and restoration, reflect on David's heartfelt cries in the Psalms, and witness the resurrection of Jesus and his message of hope: "Don't be afraid. Go and tell." After hearing these powerful words, we'll spend time in prayer together, seeking courage and focus for the day ahead, and be reminded of God's steadfast love and presence—even to the end of the age. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Don't be afraid. Go and tell. Be sure of this. Those were the words the disciples heard after Jesus was raised from the dead. "Don't be afraid." These are the first words they hear as they approach the empty tomb. There's much to be afraid of when facing such uncertainty, such emptiness—questions without answers, situations that don't seem resolvable. Yet, the word of the risen Lord is, "Don't be afraid." The unanswered questions in your life need not cause you to fear. Why? Because he is with you. Because goodness and mercy are following you all the days of your life. Those first words are followed by a calling: "Go and tell." Go and tell your brothers, your sisters, the whole world, that they, too, need not be afraid. Go and tell them that the story of Jesus is alive and ongoing. That God's love continues on. That our journeys haven't ended—that God is not finished with you yet. There is hope for tomorrow. He is redeeming your past. He is alive today. Go and tell. And as Jesus meets them on the mountain, he gives one more assurance: "Be sure of this. I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Our comfort in uncertainty is his presence. Our calling is to speak hope into the world. The story isn't over. The tomb is empty. Christ is risen. Don't be afraid amid your own uncertainties. Go and tell. Be sure of this—he is with you, and you are loved. That's the prayer I have for my own soul today: that I will live in the light of the hope of the resurrection, listening for his voice, echoing, "Don't be afraid." It's the prayer I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, my son. And it's the prayer I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.   And now Lord,  make me an instrument of your peace.  Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.  For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life.  Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ.  Amen.  OUR WEBSITE: www.dailyradiobible.com We are reading through the New Living Translation.   Leave us a voicemail HERE: https://www.speakpipe.com/dailyradiobible Subscribe to us at YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@Dailyradiobible/featured OTHER PODCASTS: Listen with Apple Podcast DAILY BIBLE FOR KIDS DAILY PSALMS DAILY PROVERBS DAILY LECTIONARY DAILY CHRONOLOGICAL

Betrayal hurts most when it comes from someone close and Psalm 55 doesn't soften that reality. We open with David's words about being wounded by “my equal, my companion,” then connect that ancient grief to a present-day world where violence is not theoretical and where our choices, from personal habits to national policy, carry real consequences. I also start with prayer, asking God to forgive us when we abandon the weak and to help us defend the widow and the orphan with steadiness, patience, and courage. From there, I take aim at the stories Hollywood sells about danger and self-defense. Real life is not a comic book, and pretending otherwise can get people hurt. I talk about what multiple fighting instructors have told me for years: if you can only choose one path of training for a woman facing a larger attacker, firearms beat hand-to-hand skills. We then return to Scripture with Ephesians 5:22–33, treating marriage as a one-flesh covenant that mirrors Christ and the church, and I ask what it means to actually live out respect, sacrificial love, and responsibility. We wrap with several snapshots that tie faith to history and civic life: a Berlin Christmas market attack, a Medal of Honor story about Navy Lieutenant Commander Alan Buchanan, and a powerful Dwight D. Eisenhower message on God-given rights and the danger of letting the state claim it is the author of human rights. If you want a Christian perspective on Psalm 55, marriage in Ephesians 5, prayer, courage, and freedom, listen through to the end, then subscribe, share this with a friend, and leave a review so more people can find the show.#DwightDEisenhower#Psalm55#ChristianNationSupport the showThe American Soul Podcasthttps://www.buzzsprout.com/1791934/subscribeCountryside Book Serieshttps://www.amazon.com/Countryside-Book-J-T-Cope-IV-ebook/dp/B00MPIXOB2

In our last episode, Korah and his posse decided that they wanted to present offerings to the Lord, but the Lord God has made clear, that Aaron and his sons were to receive the priesthood as an inheritance. When this rebellious cohort presented offerings, the ground beneath them opened up and swallowed them alive. Today, the Lord makes it clear that Aaron and his sons are to guard the tabernacle and the priesthood from iniquity. Later, the people rebel again when there is no water to be found. God instructs Moses to speak to a rock so that it will produce water, demonstrating God's holiness, but Moses fails to trust the Lord's instruction. In so doing, he is told that he and Aaron will not enter the land with the next generation. Don't forget to grab your free scripture journal at PrayingChristianWomen.com/journal today! How do you cope when the deepest wounds come not from a sworn enemy, but from a trusted and familiar friend? Where do you turn when the sheer panic and pain of personal betrayal make you just want to grow wings like a dove and fly far, far away from it all? In this devotional on Psalm 55, we walk through David’s desperate prayer of anguish—a Maskil written in the agonizing wake of being stabbed in the back by a close confidant, his top advisor Ahithophel. We shift our focus from the paralyzing sting of emotional trauma to the beautiful, messy progression of biblical lament, recognizing how David moves from panic and a desire to escape, straight into petition and renewed trust. Heaven Is God's Throne 1 ¶ This is what the LORD says, “Heaven is My throne and the earth is My footstool. Where, then, is a house that you could build for Me? And where will My resting place be? 2 “For all these things My hand has made, So all these things came into being [by and for Me],” declares the LORD. “But to this one I will look [graciously], To him who is humble and contrite in spirit, and who [reverently] trembles at My word and honors My commands. Hypocrisy Rebuked 3 ¶ “He who kills an ox [for pagan sacrifice] is [as guilty] as one who kills a man; He who sacrifices a lamb, as one who breaks a dog's neck; He who offers a grain offering, as one who offers swine's blood; He who offers incense, as one who blesses an idol. Such people have chosen their own ways, And their soul delights in their repulsive acts; 4 So I will choose their punishments, And will bring the things they dread upon them Because I called, but no one answered; I spoke, but they did not listen or obey. But they did evil in My sight And chose that in which I did not delight.” 5 Hear the word of the LORD, you who tremble [with awe-filled reverence] at His word: “Your brothers who hate you, who exclude you for My Name's sake, Have said, ‘Let the LORD be glorified, that we may see your joy.' But they will be put to shame. 6 “The sound of an uproar from the city! A voice from the temple! The voice of the LORD, providing retribution to His enemies. 7 ¶ “Before she (Zion) was in labor, she gave birth; Before her labor pain came, she gave birth to a boy. 8 “Who has heard of such a thing? Who has seen such things? Can a land fnbe born in one day? Or can a nation be brought forth in a moment? As soon as Zion was in labor, she also brought forth her sons. 9 “Shall I bring to the moment of birth and not give delivery?” says the LORD. “Or shall I who gives delivery shut the womb?” says your God. Joy in Jerusalem's Future 10 “Rejoice with Jerusalem and be glad for her, all you who love her; Rejoice greatly with her, all you who mourn over her, 11 That you may nurse and be satisfied with her comforting breasts, That you may drink deeply and be delighted with her bountiful bosom.” 12 For the LORD says this, “Behold, I extend peace to her (Jerusalem) like a river, And the glory of the nations like an overflowing stream; And you will be nursed, you will be carried on her hip and [playfully] rocked on her knees. 13 “As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you; And you will be comforted in Jerusalem.” 14 When you see this, your heart will rejoice; Your bones will flourish like new grass. And the [powerful] hand of the LORD will be revealed to His servants, But His indignation will be toward His enemies. 15 For indeed, the LORD will come in fire And His chariots will be like the stormy wind, To render His anger with rage, And His rebuke with flames of fire. 16 For the LORD will execute judgment by fire And by His sword on all mankind, And those slain by the LORD will be many. 17 “Those who [vainly attempt to] sanctify and cleanse themselves to go to the gardens [to sacrifice to idols], Following after fnone in the center, Who eat swine's flesh, fndetestable things and mice, Will come to an end together,” says the LORD. 18 ¶ “For I know their works and their thoughts. The time is coming to gather all nations and languages, and they will come and see My glory. 19 “I will set up a [miraculous] sign among them, and from them I will send survivors to the nations: Tarshish, Pul (Put), Lud, Meshech, Tubal and Javan, to the distant islands and coastlands that have not heard of My fame nor seen My glory. And they will declare and proclaim My glory among the nations. 20 “Then they shall bring all your countrymen (children of Israel) from all the nations as a grain offering to the LORD—on horses, in chariots, in litters, on mules and on camels—to My holy mountain Jerusalem,” says the LORD, “just as the sons of Israel bring their grain offering in a clean vessel to the house of the LORD. 21 “I will also take some of them as priests and Levites,” says the LORD. 22 “For just as the new heavens and the new earth Which I make will remain and endure before Me,” declares the LORD, “So your offspring and your name will remain and endure. 23 “And it shall be that from New Moon to New Moon And from Sabbath to Sabbath, All mankind will come to bow down and worship before Me,” says the LORD. 24 “Then they will go forth and look Upon the dead bodies of the [rebellious] men Who have transgressed against Me; For their worm (maggot) will not die, And their fire will not go out; And they will be an abhorrence to all mankind.” See the AMP Preface AMP Footnotes

This sermon, drawn from Psalm 55, explores the profound reality of personal suffering and the divine response of casting one's burdens upon God. Centered on David's anguish over betrayal by his trusted friend Ahithophel during Absalom's rebellion, the message highlights how trials become burdens through their personal, painful, and perilous nature—weighing heavily on the soul and threatening spiritual stability. The core exhortation, 'Cast thy burden upon the Lord,' is not a promise of escape from suffering but a call to entrust one's anxieties to God through persistent prayer, trusting in His sustaining grace rather than psychological self-help. The sermon emphasizes that God's care is grounded in His covenantal faithfulness, His provision through His Word, and the unshakable security of the believer's justification and adoption in Christ, ensuring that the righteous will never be moved. Ultimately, the passage offers a gospel-centered confidence: though burdens remain, God sustains, nourishes, and preserves His people, making His care a living reality in the midst of life's deepest trials.

As we continue reading from 1 Samuel, Fr. Mike points out how God gave the people a king like they wanted, even though it was not part of his plan. This reveals to us that even when we choose things that God does not want for us, he is still with us. The readings are 1 Samuel 11-12 and Psalm 55.
