NXP Semiconductors has recently been experimenting and refining its LinkedIn Live strategy, with incredible results. In this episode of Behind the Post, Vanessa Lowe, the Head of Social Media at NXP, offers an in-depth look into the entire process – from beginning to end – of launching a LinkedIn Live strategy.  Vanessa shares her insights on the key elements of a successful LinkedIn Live strategy, covering the highs and lows, along with invaluable tips to guide you through your own launch. She discusses the promotion techniques they use to build anticipation for their LinkedIn Live sessions, shares a behind-the-scenes look at the recording process, and reveals the third-party streaming tool they rely on to broadcast to LinkedIn. While it may seem like a challenging undertaking, some parts of the process have turned out to be surprisingly straightforward. Vanessa was (rightfully) impressed by the level of success they achieved, indicating that the benefits of their LinkedIn Live strategy significantly outweighed the hurdles. In fact, their LinkedIn Live sessions generate an average of over 50,000 impressions, while their regular posts yield approximately 8,000—an astonishing difference.  This episode serves as a comprehensive roadmap for anyone looking to master LinkedIn Live, with Vanessa Lowe providing a glimpse into what makes their approach so successful. Hot Topics: What does recording day look like and how do they handle live real-time engagement The equipment needed and the third-party tool they use for streaming How LinkedIn Live helps them achieve their overall marketing goals

Hey there - how’s it going? Oh nothing much, you? Yeah, it has been a while, but you know how it goes. Hey, you want to talk about some new Tom Waits songs? Cool. As we embark on our 14th season, Sam and Martin welcome Vanessa Lowe and Kent Sparling to talk through the quasi-religious eco-disaster anthem which opens Waits’s 1992 offering. On this week's Organist, two stories about the surprising intimacy of anonymity. In the first, thousands of people sign up for a service, created by artist and programmer Max Hawkins, which wakes up thousands strangers with a phone call in the middle of the night then pairs them up at random and records their conversations. The vulnerability of that moment, and the anonymity of having a sleepy and total stranger on the end of the line, leads to recordings of astonishing intimacy. One night, a fighting couple, who have angrily retreated to their separate apartments, wake up to hear the voice of the other on the line, a one-in-four-thousand chance. After talking face-to-face has failed, can this weird art experiment bring them back together? In our second story, Vanessa Lowe—host of KCRW's Nocturne, a sound-rich podcast featuring stories about the night—walks home from her favorite coffee shop to find a handwritten note sitting under a rock on her front porch. It's from an anonymous stranger, who has listened to her every word in the cafe. The note's contents pull her into a series of increasingly anxious encounters. Has this process made her more sinister, alienated, and critical than the anonymous note-writer him or herself?

Poetry and the night are some of the last remaining domains of “unknowing”; places where it's acceptable to digest the world slowly and without conclusion, and where one can linger in, and traverse, experiences like solitude, impermanence, and wonder. Poets Cecily Parks and Tom Harding are both drawn to explore the intersection between the quiet tender moments of night and the act of writing and reading poetry. It's a space where one can capture fleeting wisps from the darkness, and then send them off for others to hold like fireflies in a jar. Poems from the night are like fragments of dreams forgotten upon waking, reminders of things lost to us in the day. A nocturne is a piece of music that's inspired by, or which evokes, the night. It's also the name of a podcast I've been enjoying recently. Nocturne is made by the independent American audio producer Vanessa Lowe, who's intrigued by how people and places change as day turns into night. We play excerpts from a couple of her recent stories. 'Blackfish' is all about a Cornish fisherman called Malcolm Saunders who does some of his best work at night, fishing off the coast of the south west of England. Meanwhile, if you've ever stayed somewhere without power, or just turned off the lights at night so you can light a few candles and enjoy the way it makes the room look different, then you might appreciate 'Candle Hour'. It's the story of writer and journalist Julia Scott who was finding that technology use and 24/7 access to often negative news stories wasn't the best preparation for bed. So she thought back to the power cuts and snow storms in her childhood in Canada decades before, and started a relaxing ritual before bed.

"In January I left my home for 6 months of wandering and, of course, one of the main things I explored were the infinite shades of night in each new place. What I noticed more than ever is that every night is a finger print – each is unique, with no one the same as another. The sounds tell the stories." - Vanessa Lowe

What keeps you up at night? For some, it's the shape-shifting song of a mockingbird outside the bedroom window. It turns out, not everyone is amazed by this bird's musical feats. What is a wonder of nature to some, to others is the sound of torture. This time on Neighbors, a guest episode from our friends at Nocturne.   Special thanks to Vanessa Lowe who produced this story and originally aired it on Nocturne. www.nocturnepodcast.org episode art by Christopher Stewart Sponsors: Yazoo Brewing Company www.yazoobrew.com and Magnolia Record Company www.magnoliarecord.club Neighbors is a member of The Heard. www.theheardradio.com

This interview, I spoke with the charming Vanessa Lowe. Vanessa is the host of Nocturne, which could be classified as ambient storytelling. It takes the topic of night time as its subject matter and each month is a new story with that as the theme. I found out about her podcast because initially she reached out to me. I’m so glad she did, because when I listened to her show I was just fascinated by it. Show Highlights 01:35 – I have way too many shows in my podcast app. 05:25 – How did Vanessa get started in radio? 08:55 – How would Vanessa describe her podcast to her grandmother? 11:45 – Vanessa is not a natural night owl. She’s a hummingbird. 14:15 – Nocturne episode 2 – Portal was very trippy for me to listen to. 15:25 – Since Vanessa’s partner does sound for films, so she has access to an extensive sound library. 20:00 – In ep. 4 – Alter Hours, the guest’s internal clock tells her there’s 25.5 hours in a day. 27:00 – Ep.6 – (This is not) A Love Song is about the affects of mockingbirds on people at night. 29:35 – We’re losing the night sky and it’s something we’re taking for granted. 38:30 – Look forward to an upcoming episode about a different reality that happens at 3am. 46:45 – Vanessa and I geek out a little bit about New York and some of the bars we used to frequent. 50:00 – I saw a group of deaf people at a club and they were using the vibrations to dance. 54:35 – Vanessa’s podcast has been received very well and she’s getting tons of feedback from her listeners. 56:00 – Vanessa talks about the community around The Heard Radio and other podcasts. 01:02:00 – Definitely check out Nocturne. 01:03:55 – Check out http://cedarsoil.com/ for more music.   FULL SHOW NOTES: http://www.podcastjunkies.com/48★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

Vanessa Lowe, co-creator of Nocturne, joins me for very intersting conversation about her background, creating a storytelling podcast, how she uses music and art, and what her thoughts are on the differences between the podcasting, public radio and music industries. It's a new show, but one I promise you'll fall in love with immediately, just like I did! Links Vanessa Lowe (Twitter) Nocturne (Website) (Twitter) "Shake It!
