I am delighted to have my good friend, Kelli Weber, with us for the second part of a two-part series about Olive Tree People and their fantastic products. Kelli introduced me to Beautycounter about ten years ago, and last year, she brought Olive Tree People to my attention. Today, in Part 2, we dive into the details of certain Olive Tree products, and Kelli walks us through a great skincare routine using those products. Please listen to Part 1 first if you have not yet done so. Serum & Moisturizer Tips The hyaluronic acid in F86 works best on damp skin to lock in moisture Only layer the F63 oil-based serum after using a water-based serum to seal in hydration Use a lightweight moisturizer for oilier skin, and a richer moisturizer for dry or mature skin Kelli Weber's Bio: Kelli Weber is a wife, mother, and Child of God! A Jesus-loving free spirit with a heart to share knowledge she has learned (and unlearned) over the years. Her wellness journey started with a simple swap of Mac & Cheese and J&J bath wash. Now, deep dive is her middle name, questioning everything in all facets of life, and helping others win in spaces that mean most to them is how she defines success. Adding Olive Tree People to her resume last year was a decision that was a beautiful leap of faith. Kelli quickly went to the highest ranks within OTP, Black Olive Star, with hundreds sharing Bio Active Wellness. Kelli wears many hats: mother, designer, mentor, friend, and advocate. She believes in creating layers of life. From wellness to designer, she has woven together all her favorite parts of life, from travel to art. She continues to peel back the layers of how God designed us to live & thrive while creating a foundation of freedom for her family. Her goal is building foundational, repeatable daily actions that compound in business, creativity & wellness, modeling the actions of creating a life outside of the box that society has designed. In this episode: How oil and gel cleansers work together to remove makeup gently and deep clean the pores Why skin prep, and layering serum before oil and oil before cream, is crucial for effective absorption How to personalize your skincare routine by taking a quiz and consulting with a mentor for personalized product recommendations The benefits of using F86 hyaluronic acid to address dull or crepey skin. How pairing the F86 serum with the F63 cell-active oil serum targets hyperpigmentation and signs of aging Why eye care must be layered Use the La Dope and Oliveda product lines for seasonal and sensitive-skin options How F59 can naturally relax facial muscles, soften lines, and extend Botox results The long-term value of cycling with F59 and F82 Relative Links for This Show: Use code COQ10 to get 10% off COQ10 Use CODE BERGAMOT to get 10% off Citrus Bergamot Try Halo (Salt) Therapy for respiratory and skin health. In this episode of Expanded Perspectives, the hosts kick off the new year with personal updates, including Cam's family bouncing back from illness and the rare sight of winter snowfall in Texas. A wave of nostalgia follows as they reminisce about childhood favorites like Jolt cola and giant Pixie Stix. After the casual banter, the episode takes a mysterious turn. The hosts delve into eerie encounters, beginning with the enigmatic Tree People of the Shenandoah Valley. This historically rich region, stretching 140 miles through northern Virginia, is nestled between the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Alleghenies. Once the edge of the American frontier and later a pivotal Civil War battleground, the Shenandoah Valley's past echoes through its preserved landmarks, unique architecture, and vibrant communities. The intrigue doesn't stop there. The episode also uncovers chilling stories, including a Not Deer sighting in Chicago, a Skinwalker encounter in Arizona, a possible botched alien abduction, a haunted house built on protected faerie land, and the unsettling discovery of a green metal door standing alone in the middle of the woods. Was it merely an abandoned structure, or could it have been a portal to another dimension? All of this and more on this installment of Expanded Perspectives! In this Convo of Flanigan's Eco-Logic, Ted speaks with Andy Lipkis, Founder of TreePeople, who served as President for five decades. He is currently a Project Executive at Accelerate Resilience LA (ARLA). Andy is a pioneer of urban and community forestry, urban watershed management, and urban climate resilience, dedicating his life to healing the environment while improving the lives of individuals and communities.Andy grew up in southwest LA and began planting trees to rehabilitate smog and fire damaged Los Angeles–area forests when he was 15 years old. At 18, he founded TreePeople, bringing together people, trees, and forest-inspired ‘green infrastructure' to protect cities against droughts and floods, prevent water and air pollution, and mitigate and adapt to climate change. Andy served as a consultant to the City of Los Angeles as a program planner and public engagement and education facilitator. TreePeople's work in LA provided a model for environmental, economic, and social sustainability in cities everywhere. He created a greener future for Los Angeles by inspiring people, along with their local governments, to plant and care for trees and harvest and conserve the rain. Since its founding, TreePeople volunteers have been responsible for the planting of more than 2 million trees and counting. Its environmental education program reaches more than 200,000 students per year, with millions of children touched over the decades. With climate change impacts already creating a chronic emergency for cities around the world, Andy's work has demonstrated promising new ways for individuals, communities and government agencies to collaboratively reshape urban tree canopy and water infrastructure to save lives and grow a more livable future. After retiring from TreePeople in 2019, Andy launched Accelerate Resilience LA, a fiscally sponsored project of Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors to inspire and enable people and local governments to equitably accelerate climate resilience in Los Angeles. He shares with Ted that his personal mission is to inform, inspire, engage, and support people and communities to participate in restoring the healthy functioning of an ecosystem so it can abundantly provide life support services. He highlights the power of individuals and communities to make a positive impact, and the great need that exists to heal our environment. He and Ted discuss the numerous programs that increased citizen involvement in urban tree planting and care, which led him to being recognized by Johnny Carson.
#301: We're continuing our summer series of places to explore - and this time we're stepping out of the studio and into the wild. Evan's taking Brian on a tour of a park that meant a lot to him as a kid - and we're meeting the organization that acts as its steward: Tree People. You've probably heard of them before - they do everything from trail restoration work to planting shade trees, just about everywhere in Southern California. But this is their home base, and when they're not reforesting swaths of the Angeles National Forest you can find them in the heart of LA at the top of Coldwater Canyon. For the 30th anniversary of Sunny Day Real Estate's iconic debut album, DIARY, we take a detailed look at how it was made. After Dan Hoerner and Nate Mendel began playing music together in Seattle in 1992, they asked William Goldsmith to join on drums, despite the fact that he was already playing in three other bands at the time. When Mendel went on tour with another band, they asked Goldsmith's high school friend Jeremy Enigk to jam with them. Enigk took over lead vocal duties from Hoerner and when Mendel returned, they decided to continue as a four-piece. In 1993, they played what was only their second show as Sunny Day Real Estate when Jonathan Poneman saw them and immediately signed them to a deal with Sub Pop. Embarking on their first cross country tour, they landed in Chicago at Idful Studios to record with producer Brad Wood. Their debut album, DIARY, was eventually released in 1994. In this episode, Jeremy Enigk, Dan Hoerner and William Goldsmith describe the circumstances of how they first came together and the unique sound they stumbled upon. Goldsmith talks about initially being courted by Hoerner and Mendel after they saw him playing in punk bands around town, and how he learned to adapt his hardcore-influenced drumming style to suit the music they were creating. Hoerner describes taking an experimental approach early on, focusing on drones, feedback and open spaces, contrasting with heavy riffs that were more common in the grunge scene in Seattle at the time. Enigk talks about bringing more of a pop element into the group and how his early acoustic work as a solo artist informed the dynamic music he wanted to create with Sunny Day Real Estate. From the unlikely marriage of a punk band recording with Brad Wood to a grueling tour that led to Enigk's shredded vocals to taking inspiration from Fugazi, Treepeople, R.E.M., U2 and The Beatles to inserting triumphant hugeness into emotionally heavy songs to a high school relationship that informed the heartbroken lyrics, we'll hear the stories of how the record came together.
Did you know that one of the most effective absorbers of carbon dioxide is... seaweed? Sanjayan, the CEO of Conservation International, joins the show to talk about how we can harness the power of the ocean to slow the impacts of global heating. Show notes from Chris: The world's oceans are crucial for the health of our planet, helping regulate the climate and global carbon budget. The London School of Economics has a great explainer. Coastal ecosystems are super important. Mangrove forests and seagrass meadows are incredibly effective at locking up carbon, helping limit the amount of global heating. The US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (or NOAA for short) has a fabulous 101 here. Conservation International are doing amazing work with communities around the world to protect nature. Despite California's recent rains made a dent in the drought, but it's not over. The bigger problem is that we don't do enough to capture the rainwater that we do get. Well, a local non-profit is looking to change that.

Tonight's guest, Tricia Brown, is a medium and paranormal researcher who loves visiting places where paranormal activity has been reported. Spiritual happenings aren't the only kind of activity that can draw Tricia to a particular place, though. She's very interested in the Sasquatch phenomenon too. That's why she also keeps an eye and ear out for reports of Sasquatch activity, in various places. If a particular place where Sasquatch activity has been reported piques her interest strongly enough, she'll travel there, to try her hand at having an experience. Sometimes, in the past, she's had success from doing that. By doing that, she's had encounters of her own and those experiences are what she's going to share with you, on tonight's show.If you'd like to visit Tricia's YouTube Channel, which is titled “Exploring the Paranormal with Tricia Brown” and we hope you will, it can be found by going to…https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmgQ13lyE5qMkzfghqkn5TQIf you've had a Bigfoot sighting and would like to be a guest, on the show, please go to https://MyBigfootSighting.com and let us know. For the second collection of highlights from the Scherler Sundays 2022 concert and interview series, we have a document from an indie rock lover's dream: Doug Martsch of Built to Spill and John Atkins of 764-HERO, and more recently, his new band Sun Breaks. Doug and John each play intimate acoustic sets behind the old Carnegie Library in Olympia. For this show, I interviewed the two of them together since they have a bit of mutual history in their formative years in their respective music careers- you'll hear about that in a bit. I'm including about 20 minutes from each performance on today's show, and it was really difficult to choose which songs. Doug had a terrific selection of familiar cover tunes, including songs by Cat Stevens and Mazzy Star that aren't included here. If you want to hear the complete, unedited show you can find a link to that at patreon.com/lowprofile.Doug Martsch is best known as the man behind Built To Spill, Boise's undisputed kings of indie rock since the early 1990s, Treepeople before that, and a solo album called “Now You Know” released 20 years ago. Built to Spill also toured as the late Daniel Johnson's backup band, and shortly thereafter released the album "Built to Spill Plays the Songs of Daniel Johnson" in 2020. But my first exposure to his music was through his band with Olympia's Calvin Johnson on K Records, The Halo Benders. His wry lyrics and virtuosity on the guitar have made a life-long fan out of me from day one.Three Magnets Brewing Company, this season's collaborator, has also released several beers inspired by Built to Spill albums/songs, and were absolutely thrilled when Doug agreed to perform at Scherler Sundays! Built To Spill has a new album, When the Wind Forgets Your Name, out this Fall. He plays a tune from it here, along with some other BTS favorites and a few surprising cover tunes.John Atkins' band 764-HERO toured with Built to Spill in the early 1990s when they were label mates on Up! Records, and this commonality inspired the idea to interview Doug and John together for this show. John's music is cemented in the minds of indie fans in the Northwest and beyond. Following 764-HERO, the ever-evolving Atkins' other projects Hush Harbor, and currently, Sun Breaks, have continued to create emotionally charged, contemplative records. Today, you'll hear some favorite tunes from across the past few decades in John's catalog. This episode was recorded and engineered by Robin Carmosino behind the historic Carnegie Library in Olympia, WA on June 26th, 2022.

Could Los Angeles stop draining water from the Colorado River and the Sacramento Delta to become self-sufficient? That's a question that Andy Lipkis and his organization Tree People are tackling in an unprecedented alliance with public works agencies. Their work proves that the more we learn about how ecosystems operate, the more sustainably we can design our cities.
Friends, simply treemendous things are happening on this week's episode of the Psychic Funhouse!
