What does it mean for men and women to flourish together in God's design—not in spite of their differences, but because of them? In this episode of Native Exiles, we sit down with Dr. Gregg R. Allison, theologian and professor of Christian theology at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, to explore his latest book, Complementarity: Dignity, Difference, and Interdependence. Allison offers a vision of complementarity that goes far deeper than the typical debates. Rather than reducing the conversation to roles or authority, he roots his perspective in the equal worth of men and women, their meaningful distinctions, and the interdependence through which they thrive together. In our conversation, Gregg traces how the church has historically understood gender, how Scripture shapes a richer framework for thinking about dignity and difference, and why the modern church often struggles to apply these truths in a way that is both faithful and life-giving. He explains how complementarity is not merely a doctrinal position but a lived reality that shapes relationships, community, and the mission of the church. We also talk about the practical implications for everyday discipleship—how men and women serve alongside one another, how churches can cultivate environments of mutual flourishing, and how theology can help bridge divides rather than create them.Gregg Allison brings deep theological expertise and a pastor's heart, drawing from years of scholarship and ministry. Whether you're wrestling with contemporary questions about gender, seeking clarity on complementarian and egalitarian debates, or simply longing for a more beautiful vision of life together as God's people, this episode offers thoughtful, hopeful guidance.Native Exiles is a podcast from Alderwood Community Church, where we talk about following Jesus in the tension of being in the world but not of it.Gregg R. Allison is Professor of Christian Theology at Southern Seminary in Louisville, KY. Allison came to Southern in 2003.
Today on the Daily Nugget, Mike begins Romans 16:1–16 and explores the vital role of women in the early church. He highlights Phoebe and several other women who profoundly impacted the Apostle Paul and contributed to the spread of the gospel. Mike also reflects on the women who have shaped his own life and ministry, showing how God has always used faithful, courageous women to strengthen His church and advance His mission.

Today we're discussing the debate between feminists and non-feminists, and why I side with the non-feminists for biblical reasons. Just because women can do some of what men do doesn't mean we should. We'll also continue discussing the Charlie Kirk case, Erika Kirk's strange behavior, why being a widow doesn't automatically make you innocent, and why it's deeply concerning that TPUSA refuses to distance itself from Israel, even as Charlie's final words publicly challenged Israel, Judaism, and the control of figures like Ben Shapiro over the conservative movement.
Is there a way to reconcile differences in the body of Christ over the role of women in the church and the home? In some ways, this issue is tearing the church apart, and our guest on this episode has a unique proposal of how the church can move forward with unity on this topic amidst significant differences. Professor Gregg Allison is the author of a new book, Complementarity and he is here to talk about complementarianism, egalitarianism, and how to find common ground in the church. ==========Think Biblically: Conversations on Faith and Culture is a podcast from Talbot School of Theology at Biola University, which offers degrees both online and on campus in Southern California. Jesus' last words to the 11 remaining disciples was to “go and make disciples…baptizing them and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded.” (Matt 28:18-20)Chapter 2 of Paul's letter reiterates this in his instructions that Titus teach sound doctrine within the context of relationships. Sound doctrine simply means teaching that aligns with all that Jesus taught and that promotes Christlikeness. Making disciples happens within relationships just as Jesus modeled with his own disciples. Here Paul expounds on this truth instructing men and women to encourage one another in behavior that honors God. As we study these passages on right living, it's vital we remember the foundational truth highlighted in our memory verse. It is by Grace alone that our lives are transformed and our ability to obey Jesus comes thru His power and not our own efforts. During our sermon series studying Paul's letter to Titus we encourage you to memorize Titus 2:11-14. For this week continue to **work on memorizing Titus 2:12**, stacking it on 2:11For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, ---Titus 2:11-12------Prepare for this week's teaching by reading Titus 2:1-8

As Paul addresses order within the church, he outlines specific boundaries for women that are not rooted in competence or experience, but in God's ordained structure of authority. Paul addresses order in the gathered church, calling men to replace arguments with intercession and women to pursue modesty and a teachable spirit. He limits the elder/pastor role to qualified men, grounding this not in culture but in creation order (Adam and Eve). Far from devaluing women, the passage invites them to learn and flourish within God's design so the church is unified and the gospel is displayed. “Replace arguments with intercession, and let God reorder our hearts so the The post 1 Timothy 2:9-15 – Directions For Men and Women in the Church appeared first on Island Pond Baptist Church.

Today on a Daily Walk we open up First Timothy chapter two, and verses 8-15. In recent years there's been some discussion within church circles, as to whether or not a woman should be a pastor or teach over a mixed crowd. The passage we're about to look at makes it clear what the answer should be, and remember this is God's unchanging Word written for our benefit and good. We're about to continue our study of First Timothy and today we come to what you might say is a hotly debated issue in the world and church today. But pastor John will stress that we should allow God's Word to guide us to what is right and acceptable, not the culture! In chapter two, Paul addresses the role, appearance and action of women in public worship. How should a women dress, and act in the church setting? Can they teach and preach from the pulpit? Well let's allow the Word to answer that for us! To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/1368/29
1 Timothy 2:9–15 outlines Paul's instructions for women in the church, emphasizing modesty, self-control, and good works over outward adornment. Women are to learn quietly and not assume authority over men in teaching. Paul grounds this in the creation order—Adam formed first—and the fall, noting Eve's deception. He concludes with a reference to salvation through childbearing, conditioned by faith, love, holiness, and perseverance.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/lets-talk-scripture/donations

Together we explore: The theological and practical implications of women being made in the image of God. The theological and practical implications of women being "ezer kenegdo." The importance of mentorship, representation, and biblical literacy for women. Why every generation plays a crucial role in raising up the next. With wisdom, grace, and honesty, Elisa reminds us that empowering women isn't just about giving permission - it's about creating space, offering support, and embracing giftings. What happens when someone who's been teaching the Bible for 50 years sits down to talk about gospel clarity, gender dynamics in preaching, and why justification still needs explaining? In this episode, Mike Neglia is joined by Elyse Fitzpatrick—author, speaker, and theologian—for a deeply honest and theologically rich conversation. They discuss the subtle ways a “soft prosperity gospel” sneaks into evangelical preaching, the heartbreaking lack of gospel clarity among many churchgoers, and how male preachers can better represent the women in Scripture and the women in their churches.Elyse shares stories from decades of ministry, opens up about teaching through pain, and gives a practical challenge to pastors: listen more. Ask for input. Especially from wise women. And never assume you've taught the gospel enough.Whether you're a pastor, teacher, or church leader, this episode will challenge you to preach Christ more clearly, teach more thoughtfully, and love more deeply.Elyse holds a certificate in biblical counseling from CCEF (San Diego) and an M.A. in Biblical Counseling from Trinity Theological Seminary. She has authored more than 25 books on daily living and the Christian life. Elyse loves to proclaim the good news of the gospel: That Jesus, the Second Person of the Trinity, perfectly obeyed all the Law in our place, suffered in isolation and agony as punishment for our sin, died, and then rose again, all for our justification.A frequent speaker at national conferences, she has been married for over 50 years and has three adult children and six really adorable grandchildren.
