What does love for the word of God look like for women in various stages of life? By God's design, older women can guide younger women in Christ's ways.
. It's a subject that has sparked countless conversations and debates in social circles, dinner parties, and even academia. But what really lies behind this age-gap romance? What attracts these partners to each other? Today, we'll peel back the layers and discover the dynamics at play in these relationships. To set the stage, let's look at some numbers. A recent 2022 Ipsos poll revealed that a striking 39% of American adults have tried age-gap dating, where there's an age difference of ten years or more. When we break this down further, we find that 66% of men and 24% of women have dated someone significantly younger. Those are some compelling statistics!Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/lets-talk-sex-and-dating--5052038/support.
It's an interesting topic that's been buzzing around in romantic circles for quite some time—older men dating younger women. Have you ever wondered what drives this phenomenon? Why is it that a significant number of folks seem to be okay with age-gap relationships, particularly when it comes to older men and younger women? In today's episode, we're diving deep into this subject, exploring the societal norms, psychological factors, and even the historical context that shape these relationships.Let's kick things off by looking at some numbers. A recent Ipsos poll revealed that a whopping 39% of American adults have dated someone significantly younger—by at least ten years. And interestingly, 71% of respondents find it socially acceptable for older men to date younger women. You heard that right! But what about older women dating younger men? Well, it seems like 60% of people are cool with that too.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/lets-talk-sex-and-dating--5052038/support.
So, let's kick things off with some eye-opening statistics: A recent Ipsos poll revealed that nearly 39% of American adults have engaged in age-gap dating—defined as relationships involving a ten-year age gap. And here's an interesting slice of that data: a whopping 66% of men have dated someone ten or more years younger than themselves. In contrast, only 28% of women have dated someone that much older. This disparity raises some intriguing questions about preferences in romantic relationships.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/lets-talk-sex-and-dating--5052038/support.
Let's start by looking at the perception of inequity. A study from 2018 published in Current Psychology found that age-gap couples often fight against a stereotype that one partner is more privileged than the other, leading to what we call prejudice in the wider society. It's a common view that older partners must be benefiting more, creating a dynamic that can both challenge and bolster these relationships depending on cultural norms.Speaking of culture, it plays a significant role in how age gaps are perceived. In many Western countries, an age gap can come with judgment—particularly if the older partner is a man. Contrastingly, in parts of Africa and the Middle East, age differences might be seen more positively; stability and family ties take precedence over individual romantic ideals, leading to wider accepted age gaps. It's a powerful reminder that context matters when discussing relationships!Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/lets-talk-sex-and-dating--5052038/support.

You may have heard in the news that younger women are being diagnosed with breast cancer at higher rates than before. While women under 40 only account for 4% of breast cancer cases in the U.S., even a modest rise in breast cancer incidence is a call to action for young women to understand their personal risk and to know what's normal for their breasts so they can be aware of any changes that should be reported to a health care provider. Joining us on the show today is Dr. Virginia Borges, a medical oncologist at the University of Colorado, whose research focuses on young women's breast cancer. Dr. Borges is committed to finding answers and today will share what is being studied, as well as how young women can be empowered to take charge of their breast health early.
Discipleship That Reflects Sound Doctrine (Titus 2)In this episode, we explore Titus 2, where Paul outlines a vision for discipleship that reflects the beauty of sound doctrine. God's grace not only saves us—it shapes us. From older men and women to the younger generation and even into the workplace, this chapter shows how every stage of life is an opportunity to adorn the gospel through godliness. Whether you're teaching, mentoring, working, or waiting for Christ's return, you are called to reflect the transforming power of grace. We walk through three key sections:God's Design for Discipleship – Discipleship is gendered, generational, and gospel-shaped.Discipleship on Display in the Workplace – Godliness is evident even under pressure or injustice.Living in Light of God's Grace – Grace not only saves but sanctifies and prepares us for the return of Christ. This episode challenges each listener to ask: Am I reflecting the gospel in the way I live, serve, and disciple others?Discipleship varies by stage of life and gender, but it's always shaped by sound doctrine.Older Men & Women – Called to live reverent, self-controlled, and faith-filled lives that model maturity.Younger Women & Men – Encouraged to love their families, be pure and self-controlled, and live in a way that upholds the gospel's reputation. The goal: live in a way that silences critics and points others to Christ.Godly character should shine at work through submission, respect, honesty, and integrity. Our conduct at work should adorn the doctrine of our Savior—making the gospel attractive by our actions.God's grace has appeared to all people—saving and sanctifying us.Grace teaches us to say “no” to ungodliness and to wait in hope for Christ's return.Jesus redeemed us to be a people zealous for good works. This grace must be proclaimed boldly—with truth, love, and authority. How does your life reflect the gospel to those around you?Are you investing in others through discipleship? Is your daily living shaped by grace and pointing others to the Savior?“...so that in everything they may adorn the teaching of God our Savior.” – Titus 2:10b
