When a pastor or ministry leader falls, it impacts the entire family and community. Walking through a tragedy like this is difficult for everyone. Today's show is from The Glass House, when Illuminator, Lisa Whittle, shared how she has walked this road firsthand as a daughter of a pastor who had a very public fall from their church ministry position. Lisa Whittle shares with us how her father's actions and the reaction from the church community deeply impacted her faith and relationship with the local church. Lisa is the best-selling author of 9 books and several Bible studies, including Jesus Over Everything and The Hard Good. She is a sought-out Bible teacher for her wit and bold, bottom-line approach. She is the founder of online communities: Ministry Strong for ministry leaders and Called Creatives for writers and speakers, and host of the popular Jesus Over Everything podcast. She's a wife, mom, lover of laughter, good food, and The Bible. As we broke down a few points from Lisa's article, How to Lose a Pastor in 10 Years, our prayer is that through this conversation we grow in compassion and grace. Our prayer is that we think twice next time we forward an article or respond to a text. May we be people that surround and support those in need of grace because of the overwhelming amount of grace our Father has given to us.SHOW LINKS:Connect with Angie How to Lose a Pastor in 10 Years 52 Modern Manners for Today's Teens Connect with the Glass House on Instagram HERE
How do we live a more connected life with Jesus when this world offers so many distractions? What would it look like for individuals to experience personal revival in their own faith that could spark revival in other's lives as well? For author, podcaster and Bible teacher Lisa Whittle, it was her own journey towards seeking more of God that led her to write about it. As a woman in ministry, Lisa has seen and faced many challenges, but through it all, she was able to find God more and more. By asking God for her own personal revival, Lisa began to see all the ways the enemy of her soul attempts to keep her from it. From people pleasing and anxiety to social media and the celebrity culture that has infiltrated the Christian spaces she has been in, Lisa knows that there are many things that can derail her from living out of a whole hearted devotion to God. It is why she decided to update and re-release her book, I Want God: How to Love Him with Your Whole Heart and Revive Your Soul. As God continued to draw her own heart into personal revival, she realized the message she wrote years ago had even more relevance for our current culture. In this episode, Aubrey and Lisa talk about the challenges many women face in ministry and how to overcome them, what personal revival looks like in both seasons of normalcy and seasons of pain, and how the fear of man can keep us from the freedom God so longs to give us. If you've ever desired to experience more of God in your own heart and life but don't know how, this conversation will teach you the simplicity of loving Him and reviving your soul in the process. Welcome to the Pinkleton Pull-Aside Podcast. On this podcast, let's step aside from our busy lives to have fun, fascinating life giving conversation with inspiring authors, pastors, sports personalities and other influencers, leaders and followers. Sit back, grab some coffee, or head down the road and let's get the good and the gold from today's guest. Our host is Jeff Pinkleton, Executive Director of the Gathering of the Miami Valley, where their mission is to connect men to men, and men to God. You can reach Jeff at GatheringMV.org or find him on Facebook at The Gathering of the Miami Valley.Hi Friend! I'm Lisa Whittle. If you are okay with feisty works-in-progress, we will be friends. If you love Jesus, we already have things in common. If neither of those things are true, you are still welcome here. I'm always honored when someone stops by. I've been loving Jesus for a long time, but I haven't always served Him. At 6, I gave Him my heart and at 23, I surrendered my entire life to sharing His good news. For nearly 20 years, I've been honored to write books, speak all over the world, host podcasts, and launch ministries. I will never get over the joy of it all, but mostly just Him. My family is my safe place. I have 5 best friends: my husband of 27 years, my 3 kids, and my daughter-in-law. Good food, good conversation and a good sale are my love languages. My life isn't easy or perfect, but it's beautiful.
As little kids we have dreams and ideas of what we think life will look like. Too often, as life goes on, we find ourselves in the middle of disappointment. Whether it's a different career path, a broken relationship, or the emptiness of infertility, life throws us curveballs and we can be drowning in unnamed disappointment without even realizing it. On today's show Guest Host Lisa Whittle and Angie Elkins discuss their childhood dreams and how their lives have taken unexpected paths. They delve into the different paths of disappointment, including disappointment in ourselves, disappointment of others, and even disappointment in God. Through the pain of admitting our disappointment, there is healing and redemption on the other side! God can, and will, make all things new in our lives! I hope you're taking some time this week to slow down and spend a few minutes pondering Holy Week and all that it means to your faith. My prayer is that we don't come out on the other side of Easter the same way we went into it. I pray that the very reminder of Jesus' ultimate sacrifice on the cross sparks a new hope in our lives, causing us to want more God in our lives than we currently have. Every year on Good Friday, my husband pulls out the ol' “It's Friday . . . but Sunday's Coming” message at some point when we're all in the car together. He gets mocked for this predictable move every year, but gosh it's a message we need to hear on repeat. Take a minute to listen this week and even follow Mike's lead and throw it on the car radio for the fam. On today's show we have Lisa Whittle talking with us about revival, and how to experience it both on a corporate and personal level. Lisa is passionate about the importance of desiring and wanting more God in our lives—which leads to a personal revival that can literally change everything about how we live. I especially appreciate her list of things that keep us from revival, or wanting more God. Things like our need for comfort, control, and even popularity. This is a perfect word for us going into Easter, and I pray it challenges you in the coming days.
In this episode of the Grace Enough podcast, host Amber Cullum interviews author Lisa Whittle about the re-release of her book 'I Want God' and the personal journey behind it. A decade ago, Lisa found herself burdened by the pressures of motherhood, a stalled writing career, and societal expectations to be a successful Christian leader. This led to a period of internal desperation, not for lack of external success, but from an inner longing for something more meaningful. Throughout their conversation, Lisa and Amber delve into various topics including the difference between needing and wanting God, the power of prayer, and the significance of personal revival. Key Takeaways: Understand the distinction between needing God and wanting God, and how this impacts your spiritual journey. Learn why Lisa's prayer life now consists more of silent prayer. Explore the significance of personal revival and how it can ignite a deeper passion for your faith. Learn how fasting extends beyond food and discover the spiritual discipline it can bring to your life. In the dictionary of your life, what would be written beside the word “good?” Maybe health, fulfillment, beauty, wealth, comfort, or control? Welcome 2024! As you enter the new year, I know there are many things on your mind, and as women, we often are preoccupied with our bodies. Lisa Whittle is joining me today and we are getting really honest about how our childhood's have affected our bodies, how the words of other people have carried weight and how we ourselves have not been on our own side in this battle. I'm also inviting you to join me in the 31 Day Shine Challenge. Sign up for my newsletter HERE to get more info or just listen to last week's episode with Nikki Ogden. I'm so glad to be entering this new year with you!Mentioned:Connect with AngieJoin the 31 Day Shine CHallenge Group Chat on What's App-click HERE

In January 2020, I started Called Creatives with my friend and co-founder, Lisa Whittle, because we want to give other women what we did not have when we were starting out writing and speaking. We are celebrating today because Called Creatives is open for new members! This only happens twice a year, and I'm so excited for all of the women who will join us! If writing and speaking are dreams in your heart, you may be surprised to learn that they are crafts that anyone can learn. Lisa and I teach you what we've learned along the way. And we do it in a place where you can find community with women who get it. Called Creatives is that place! Lisa and I recently got together for a Called Creatives Getaway. While there, we took some time to talk about five things we see that hold women back. We dove into why these five things are so prevalent and what we can do about them. Join Lisa and I as we talk about: Why you don't actually need people to believe in your dreams, and what you really need instead How isolation feeds our self-doubt Why Lisa says there is no such thing as self-promotion One great gift that can be found in failure The impact of a growth mindset on your success Favorite quotes: “Self doubt will stop you before you ever get started. You should not wait for the day you are going to feel completely confident.” “You don't need people to believe in your dream. You need them to believe in you.” “It is key to get people around you to overcome that self-doubt.” “Writing and speaking is an art and a craft that can be learned. You are not born knowing how to do it.” “The wise person always says where can I grow. There is never a moment that there isn't something else to learn.” “It is never going to be the right time. It is never going to feel perfect. You are never going to feel confident but if you just keep going in the right direction you are going to get there.” “All you really have to do is get the small wins. When you add up enough of the small wins you will find that you actually made a lot of forward progress.” Coaching this week: Aligning Your Actions with Your Values (50:10) Links to great things we discussed: Lisa Whittle Website Lisa Whittle Instagram Called Creatives U2 at the Sphere Where the Streets Have No Name - U2 Order your copy of Remaining You While Raising Them here.
