Or why pursuing “success” in the name of Jesus can sometimes leave your home drained, your marriage stretched thin, and your soul strangely empty? In this episode, we sit down with Gary Thomas to unravel the subtle but powerful lies that derail intimacy with God and quietly distort family rhythms. This conversation will make you rethink control, redefine calling, and reimagine what a spiritually alive home could look like. In this Still Waters episode, we slow down and sit with Galatians 6:3-5 - a short but deeply revealing passage about humility, self examination, and carrying the responsibilities that God has entrusted to us.I explore what it means to grow spiritually without slipping into comparison or pride.Whether you are healing, rebuilding, or simply hungry for clarity, this episode is a gentle, honest heart-check you did not know you needed.
In this week's episode I wanted to continue the conversation from last week's episode, but go deeper. As we examine our heart let's also examine the reason behind why we do what we do. We may be able to fool others, but you can't fool God. He truly sees you and he knows you. It's time to get real to really uncover our intent and the reasons why we do certain things. When we take a step back and examine our heart we often realize our motive. This episode is for you if:-you need a check in your heart and spirit of why you do what you do-you often find yourself overachieving and not realizing it's a void that only God can fill-you have often found yourself living for the approval of others or that pat on the back when you should live to please GodI have a FREE resource for you!! Drawing from Matthew 13 and Proverbs 4:23, this message explores how the state of our hearts shapes every part of our spiritual lives. Whether hardened, shallow, crowded, or receptive, our hearts determine how deeply God's truth can grow within us.
Have you ever wondered how a small group of Jesus' followers turned into a global movement of hundreds of millions? The book of Acts gives us a powerful glimpse into the first three decades of the Church—from 33 AD to 64 AD—when a gospel movement was born. In just 30 years, the message of Jesus began to spread with such force and impact that it has since shaped civilization, culture, education, medicine, freedom, and family life around the world. You could say the gospel has gone viral.Throughout history, people have approached Acts from different angles:The cold scholar sees it as a record of dates, places, and historical figures. The casual admirer treats it like a museum—something to observe from a distance. But the committed disciple reads it as a call to action—a blueprint for continuing the mission of Jesus. Our goal is to respond not as scholars or admirers, but as committed disciples. Let's continue the mission of Jesus Christ, becoming His witnesses in our Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

POUR IT OUT | Pastor Kristie Chokka | Kingdom Church What do you do when it feels like you don't have enough? When all you've got left is “a little” in the jar? In 1 Kings 17, a widow with only a handful of flour and a little oil discovers what happens when you entrust the little you have to God — He multiplies it, sustains it, and even brings dead things back to life. This week Pastor Kristie unpacks the story of Elijah and the widow of Zarephath in our series Heart Check. You'll be challenged to see what's in your jar, trust God with it, and POUR IT OUT — because the power is in the pouring, not in you.

What do your words say about your faith? In Part 3 of our Real Faith for Real Life series, Pastor Talaat McNeely dives into James 3 with a revealing challenge: If your faith doesn't change how you speak, is it really faith—or just talk? Drawing from the Apostle James' bold teaching, this episode shows that our tongue may be small, but it wields enormous influence. From a single encouraging sentence that can redirect a life to a tiny spark of gossip that can ignite a forest fire of hurt, Pastor Talaat illustrates that our words hold the power of life and death. He reminds us that “one sentence can change everything,” for better or for worse. James doesn't treat our speech as a side issue—it's a core issue, revealing who we truly are at heart. This message will challenge you to consider the direction your words are steering others, the impact they leave behind, and the spiritual roots they spring from in your heart.Whether you've been in church for years or you're just beginning your faith journey, this clear and encouraging word will speak to you. Pastor Talaat's warm, practical style makes James 3 come alive, showing how real faith is meant to show up in our everyday conversations. You'll be inspired to watch your words, not out of fear, but because God has given them incredible power and purpose. Get ready to be both challenged and encouraged as you learn to harness the tongue for good – to speak life, hope, and healing into those around you, just as Jesus did.In this episode, you'll discover:✅ The Tongue's True Power: Why James compares our tongue to a bit in a horse's mouth or a ship's rudder—small but able to steer the course of our lives and others'.✅ The Dangers of Careless Speech: How just a few reckless words can spark a wildfire of destruction in relationships, and practical steps to prevent those flames.✅ Heart Check for Your Words: What your daily conversations reveal about the state of your heart and faith (hint: our lips often “tell on” our inner spiritual condition).✅ Wisdom in Words: How to let God's wisdom guide your tongue so you speak with love and truth—following Jesus' example of using words to heal and uplift, even when confronting challenges. This isn't just a sermon—it's a roadmap to a faith that speaks with grace and purpose in real life. By the end of this episode, you'll have a new awareness of the weight your words carry and how surrendering your speech to Christ can set the tone for a life that honors God. Listen now and let this message equip you to start using your words to build up rather than tear down. And don't forget to subscribe to The Purpose City Church Podcast and share this episode with someone who needs encouragement. Together, let's speak life and watch real faith flourish!

Heart Check. With Pastor Brandon Mercer.
Your heart takes a licking, and most of the time, it keeps on ticking.…
After a little podcast pause, I'm back — and today we're having an honest mid-year check-in. Think of this episode like a coffee chat with your wellness bestie. Are you living from a healed heart—or just managing your pain? In this powerful kickoff episode of the God's Vibes Book Club podcast series, we dive into what's really going on in your heart. You'll learn how to recognize signs of a wounded heart, how unhealed pain can shape your identity, and how to invite God into the places you've been hiding or ignoring. We'll explore what the Bible says about the heart as the wellspring of life (Proverbs 4:23), how our words expose what's buried (Luke 6:45), and why true healing starts with surrender, not striving. In this episode of Bible Reading and Coffee Drinking, we explore Matthew 15, where Jesus challenges the religious leaders and teaches a powerful truth: it's not what goes into our mouths that defiles us, but what comes out of our hearts. We'll also see His compassion on display as He heals and miraculously feeds thousands again. This chapter reminds us that God cares more about a clean heart than clean hands. In week one of our latest series, Heart Check, we'll take a closer look at how our resources reflect what matters most to us. Jesus teaches us that where we invest shows the true condition of our hearts. Let's explore how we can live with a heart that mirrors His generosity and purpose.
March 16, 2025 | Stand Alone | Revelation 2:4-5In this message from Revelation 2:4-5, Pastor Daniel Norris challenges us to take a spiritual “Heart Check.” Just as we visit the doctor for a physical exam, we need regular assessments of our spiritual health. Jesus praised the church in Ephesus for their hard work and endurance, but He had one concern—they had abandoned their first love. What do we do when our passion for Jesus isn't what it used to be? How do we move from routine religion back to a thriving relationship with Christ? This message explores the importance of remembering, repenting, and remaining in Him. Whether you feel like the younger son who has drifted far or the older brother who has lost intimacy, the call is the same—return to your first love.Join us as we dive into Scripture, reflect on where we stand with God, and respond to His invitation to renewal. It's time for a heart check. Sermon Title: Heart Check (Core Conversations) Why Honor Requires The Right Heart? Pastor Yari Abreu | COOL Church CREATED OUT OF LOVE
We are already almost two months into our new year. Seems like it might be a good time to check in on your heart.
Welcome to Day 46 of 100 Days of Believing Bigger! Today's devotional, Magnificent Thinking, focuses on transforming our thoughts to align with God's Word. Let's dive into what it means to elevate our thinking and implant truth in our hearts.Main Scripture:
Deeper levels of spiritual growth are reserved for the seeker, hearer, and doer. The understanding of parables are for the seeker, no the casual!
Jesus vented His wrath on those who had turned the temple into a marketplace. You may envision this, and perhaps ask if what He did was right, considering that He was God's Son. Today, Pastor Bill will explain how you can speak up for what's right. Jesus chose to drive those people away because he saw the temple as His Father's house. Similarly, you may be faced with situations in which you must shepherd your lost fellow Christians back to God, even if it means using harsh measures.
