Our guest for Episode 39 of the Rider Magazine Insider Podcast is Hayley Bell, Founder and President of Global Business Development for Women Riders World Relay. The mission of Women Riders World Relay is to bring fun, experience, confidence, and a sense of unity to female riders globally. Between February 2019 and February 2020, more than 3,500 women from 79 countries on six continents circumnavigated the globe on two wheels, passing a baton from woman to woman and logging 63,000 miles. For her efforts with WRWR, Bell was named 2019 Motorcyclist of the Year by the American Motorcyclist Association. We talk to Bell about how she started WRWR, how the movement grew exponentially within a matter of weeks, and how hundreds of women around the world volunteered their time and effort to plan, organize, and complete the global relay. We also talk about the impact WRWR is having on the motorcycle industry, and her role as a spokesperson and advocate.
Simone Roche MBE chats to Hayley Bell, Innovation & Growth Consultant at Innovate UK EDGE, founder of Women Riders World Relay (the world's largest motorcycle relay performed entirely by women) and 2022 Northern Power Women Future List-er. Together Simone and Hayley talk about their shared passion for adventure, and how motorcycling has changed Hayley's life for the better. Listen to Learn: How to face your fears head on Why feeling the fear and doing it anyway is always better than wondering "what if" How breaking away from the "life funnel" might be the right decision for you Why the right teams and support networks are essential to success Take a look Hayley's feature in Bikers Club Magazine. Jeremy Kroeker & Elle West Prepared For Everything, Except This! In the 37th episode of the WorldRider Podcast I travel (virtually) to South America to the tiny country of Uruguay where Author and Adventure Motorcyclist Jeremy Kroeker and Elle West, his girlfriend are stuck in a tiny two-room apartment. In late August 2019, the couple left home in Canada headed for the bottom tip of South America, the village of Ushuaia, in Tierra del Fuego. On separate motorcycles jam-packed with camping gear and everything else they thought they needed (and plenty they didn’t) for a 13-month journey south, including camping gear. This trip would be Jeremy’s fourth attempt to reach the iconic southernmost tip. On two occasions, Elle made a trip to Panama, but this would be her first attempt at Tierra del Fuego. The odd couple has a unique relationship. Jeremy insists that they are on separate, yet parallel journeys—traveling together but are riding different motorcycles. They’re not sharing gear, either. If they breakdown—emotionally or the bikes—they’re prepared to go their separate ways. This podcast originated as the second episode of the Journeys Webcast and Livestreamed from Uruguay on April 27, 2020. The audio Podcast has been edited to remove audio from video segments, slide shows, and other areas where visuals are tied to the conversation. If you want to see the entire Webcast as it was live-streamed complete with all video content, scroll to the bottom of this page. Or you can watch the segment directly on YouTube. Listen to the 37th Journeys With WorldRider Podcast Jeremy Kroeker, Author & Adventurer Jeremy Kroeker is the author of Motorcycle Therapy and Through Dust and Darkness, as well as the editor of the original Motorcycle Messengers and Motorcycle Messengers 2. With his motorcycle, he has traveled to 30 countries while managing to do at least one outrageously stupid thing in every one. He has evaded police in Egypt, tasted teargas in Israel, scrambled through minefields in Bosnia and Lebanon, and wrangled a venomous snake in Austria. One time he got a sliver in El Salvador. Elle West, Adventurer Elle has been riding motorcycles for over 25 years. She has ridden through Alaska, North, and Central America, and is now riding through South America with her partner, Jeremy Kroeker. When in Canada, Elle is an instructor with Motology School, in Calgary, Alberta, where she shares her passion for motorcycles with new riders. Elle is an advocate and supporter of women in the motorcycling industry and proudly carried the baton for the Women Riders World Relay as a Guardian in a Colombian leg of the relay.

In this episode Gina and I interview Hayley Bell, the founder and the main driving force behind the Women Riders World Relay (WRWR), a worldwide pursuit "to ignite a global sisterhood of inspirational women to promote courage, adventure, unity and passion for biking from all corners of the world and do something that’s never been done before to this scale." I also share what I have learned so far from Keith Code's "A Twist of the Wrist" books and DVDs, discuss a new part I installed on my Z900RS, talk about a new Dainese jacket that could really help protect you in a crash, and give some details about a non-motorcycle podcast that I appeared on as a guest to help promote motorcycling to people that don't ride motorcycles. In this episode I have two special guests. Shana Sanderson, Executive Vice President of Operations for the Women Riders World Relay (WRWR). And her husband, Eugene Sanderson, who has been instrumental in supporting Shana in her day to day role in WRWR, and who also handcrafted the batons that are passed woman to woman in the WRWR Global Relay and the WRWR U.S. Ripple Relay. We discuss what motorcyles they each ride now and the motorcycles they started out on, as well as how they got started riding. We touch on Eugene's experience as a Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) RiderCoach. We also talk about the challenges and rewards related to working with, supporting, and being associated with WRWR, which has grown very rapidly beyond anyone's original expectations. And we consider the ways in which WRWR is helping to change the future for women, women motorcyclists, and motorcycling in general. And we discuss the construction of the batons, and the technology behind them, and the impressive amount of ingenuity and craftsmanship that Eugene put into creating them for WRWR. We also touched on the future of WRWR and how Shana and Eugene see it developing in the years to come. In this episode I have two special guests. My girlfriend, Gina Bratkowsky, joins me as my co-host and helps me interview Sarah Worthylake from the Women Riders World Relay (WRWR). Sarah is the Global Relay Moderator and the U.S. Ripple Relay Coordinator for WRWR. She started riding about 3 years ago, and her first and current bike is a Honda CBR600RR sport bike. Her fiancé got her interested in riding and she learned how to ride in the Motorcycle Safety Foundation's (MSF) Basic Riders Course (BRC). He rides a Honda CBR1000RR. We discuss how WRWR got started, its purpose and where the relay started and how far the baton has gotten so far. We also talk about the Ripple Relays that were created to help women participate if scheduling and other logistics do not allow them to join the main worldwide relay. We also talk about how men can help and support WRWR. Oh and we discuss the construction and technology contained in the baton! I hope you enjoy this episode and please do what you can to support WRWR and women riders around the world!
