Will WordPress Page Builders Survive?

The WP Minute

I've been learning the Twenty Twenty-Four theme deeply over the last few weeks, as I feel this is one of the most important default themes ever released. A theme that has a good set of patterns at launch, a less opinionated design than previous default themes, and with the site editing and block experience at an acceptable level for customizations. TT4 provides a solid starting point for many small business or creators looking for a new website. My only hope is that the design team behind TT4 continue to improve the feature set, and not let it sit after launch. Let's make this theme better over the next year!I'm not surprised with Mullenweg's offensive take on the recent price hike at Elementor, but I also feel it's a bit short sighted for the industry as a whole. Does it have to be core vs 3rd party plugins for WordPress to survive? Do the future enhancements to site editing and blocks slowly erode the page builder market? I understand why it's happening, and as frustrating as it can be, the fragmentation of WordPress experience has brought us a lot of choices and innovation over the years. Get the rest of the show notes: https://thewpminute.com/?p=12945 ★ Support this podcast ★

The out of the box WordPress Builder has been a very popular website building platform, but it's interface is really not user-friendly when editing for layouts and themes. It is for this reason why new page builders were developed, to help with the visual functionality of the website and into making the website faster.  Whether you are choosing to build your website yourself or paying a developer to do it for you is a major business decision that you need to diligently focus on so that it can ultimately get you better SEO results and customer conversion. Choosing the right developer with solid expertise is also a big factor here. We will discuss these topics with our comeback guest, Justin Meadows, in this third appearance on the SEO Leverage Podcast.    Podcast Highlights: 00:00 Prologue 01:11 Justin Meadows is back on the show. 02:04 Introduction of the topic on page builders. 02:34 Justin Meadows' background, his work at Tunedwp.com. 03:36 What is a Page Builder? Hey Everyone, With this post, I am starting a new chapter for MetaBlogue. For a long time, I was thinking to start a regular series on MetaBlogue and what's better than Blogging updates. So, I am going to do a monthly mashup about the latest news and updates around blogging and this is first of those. This monthly mashup will not only contain things about Blogging but also things or services close to blogging and WordPress. Some of the things which will be covered are like updates to Elegant Themes, Genesis Framework, Hosting Services updates, WordPress Plugin Releases, etc. Blogging Monthly 001 So let's kick off this month's update with one of the most important topics for every blogger - Google Search Updates. Google BERT Update Google has released its latest updated to Search Algorithms - BERT. BERT update is specifically targeted towards a better understanding of the user queries context. It is going to use machine learning and artificial intelligence to better understand the query and map it with proper results. This is good news for the people who do not like keyword stuffing and would like to write the content in more conversational language. With this update, Google will be able to better categorize the queries and map it with proper content by understanding the context of the queries. The update is released around the 25th of October, so keep an eye on your SERP results and traffic. Let us know if you are seeing major changes around it. As per Google, this update affects around 10% of the search queries which is very high considering some of the recent updates. BERT update improves the understanding of the on-page content and user search query with the help of natural language processors. So you may see some increase with the queries which might be related but the keyword is not directly mentioned on your pages. Another point to notice about BERT is that it's targeted towards long-tail keywords. Short tail keywords will not have much data to process through the natural language processors. Though there can be some shuffling of results for short-tail keywords due to better understanding of on-page content. You can get more details about it from Search Engine Journal or Search Engine Land. WordPress 5.3 The next update is around WordPress CMS. WordPress is already testing the next version (5.3) which will be released in the upcoming weeks. Currently, its under BETA testing and showing good progress. You can expect it to be available in the week of 11th November. There are many changes that will help you better manage your WordPress installs including performance improvements for Gutenberg Editor. With this update, the Gutenberg Editor will reduce its response time and your content will load faster. There are also many enhancements including Group block functionality which will allow you to select multiple blocks and create a group. Currently, I use Atomic Blocks to create a container to manage multiple blocks easily. The grouping functionality will help in easily manage it. There are some updates to Site Health functionality, Gallery embeds on post/pages or cosmetic upgrades to Admin UI. There are many other updates for other blocks that you can check in detail at this post on Kinsta. So, keep an eye on the public release of WordPress 5.3 in the week of 11th November. Divi 4.0 Release Divi from Elegant Themes is one of the best WordPress Page builder available in the market. Till now, you are able to design the pages and save generic elements in the Divi Library for reuse. Elegant Themes has released a major update to Divi which makes it a complete solution to design WordPress Themes. Now, you can use the Divi and design almost all the pages or posts with the help of Divi Theme Builder. There are new site-wide templates where you can design an element and assign it across your site. This will remove the need to edit each post individually. ...

Elementor Page Builder is fantastic! Yep... another front-end visual page builder for WordPress has joined the scene (even though it seems like these tools are coming out overnight, I can assure you these take a lot of time to build and test). Personally, I couldn't be happier. Maybe that's because I'm not a developer... many developers are anti-page builders. That's fine. They're not for them. Page builders have been built for users and people who want to get things to market quicker (and more efficiently). Asking a developer to endorse a page builder is like asking a vegetarian to endorse a hamburger. It's an argument that is irrelevant. And now that we got that out of the way, let's jump into Elementor. When I first saw Elementor I was really impressed with it. It has a really smooth UI, tons of features in the free version and is really easy to work with. Needless to say I was excited to have Ben Pines on the show. I'll definitely be doing a full post, review and video on it... but I didn't want to hold up the interview any longer (I have a list of 7 posts to write, so it will be coming soon). Elementor is created by the team at Pojo.me and Ben Pines is the CMO. Questions I asked Ben Fill us in on how you connected with the team at Pojo? Why did you decide to join the team? Visual builders for WordPress are getting much more popular. What made you decide to create Elementor? What makes this different from other visual builders? I'm sure you have this question before, but Elementor is free. How are you guys going to monetize this awesome tool? Where do you see page builders heading? So, why did they even bother creating a type of content called a Post? Isn't everything just a Page? Why did posts even come into existence in the first place? To answer that, we need to do a quick 1-minute flashback to the time, when the word "blog" came into being. Did you know that the word "blog" is actually a short form for "Web Log" as in, a online log of events. Like a personal diary. On one of my web sites early in 2000 - a lot of web site owners did this - used to have a link in their menu called "Web Log". I certainly did, and it took the visitor to a page that had an online diary of sorts - the kind that we would publish on Facebook today. A typical WordPress blog shows all of your blog Posts, in reverse chronological order. And if your blog is set to show the latest 5 posts, and you keep publishing new posts ever week, if I go to your blog in 2 months, I will see an entirely new set of blog posts on the front page, assuming your front page IS your blog. So if I am on your blog, and I like one of the posts I read on the home page, and I want to send the link to a friend, then I can't send my friend to just your home page, because depending on when the friend visits your home page, that post may or may not even be there. And so each post needed a more permanent link in order to be able to share with friends and index in search engines. That permanent link came to be known as the now famous "permalink" in WordPress. Then, there is the WordPress Page, with a capital P, which is a more static entity. There's no rolling sequence of pages. A page is a page. It's just there. It has a link. Which is a permanent link. So, when should you use WordPress Posts and when to use WordPress Pages?

Does this mean they are going out of business? No. Does it mean they need to be profitable soon? Yes.    Appendpity Podcaster Pro (and other themes) will soon integrate with PowerPress I've used Appendipty themes in the past, but I wanted a little more flexibility. They just released the Podcast Pro theme, and it is WOW. The one thing it didn't do is integrate with the PowerPress plugin. I introduce Joey from Appendity to Todd Cohcrane from Blubrry who introduced Joey to Angelo (the main developer of PowerPress). The bottom line is the theme and plugin will work together very soon (probably a month or so). This way people who have started their podcast  and have a number of past episodes they won't have to copy and paste the location of the mp3 file into Appendpity part of your post (very cool). This will bring you ideas for future shows. If they have no ideas, they will tell you what you are doing right. In my example my listener told me he was glad that I don't interview the "same old people." What was the last podcast you listened to? How did you find that show? Call it in 888-563-3228 Snake Oil is on the Way (Audello) 26:15 A very successful Internet Marketer will be releasing a podcast publishing platform at the end of this week. My guess is this is going to be on the expensive side (if it's like previous product releases - I owned Easy Video Suite 2). There are tons of items in their video that just play on people who don't know better. PLUS they have contacted all the other Internet Marketers to promote it with affiliate programs (which is also why these are often over-priced as they have to pay 50% to an affiliate).  I'm not saying this is a bad product. It could be very good, but it did show the system using feedburner (a really bad idea) and other tools that will make it look super easy. Many of these tools like WP Bakery allow you to drag and drop things on your Wordpress Page.  Making Money with your podcast is not bad. People open restaurants every day and many of these don't make it through the first year. Podcasters who are looking to make a living quickly need to know their chances of success are not great. They are not impossible, but it takes a lot of work. a lot of hustle, and some luck. Please go in with your eyes open. If you're not sure, reach out to me and I will help you.
