Es ist ein Museum in Modulen und macht sich rechtzeitig zu Bichsels 90. Geburtstag mit den ersten beiden Ausstellungen auf die Reise. Das Büro Bichsel hat keinen festen Ausstellungsort. Fix was los in Deutschlands Stahlindustrie, die immerhin eine Schlüsselbranche nicht nur für die Automobilindustrie ist. Bei thyssenkrupp Steel, dem größten Stahlhersteller in Deutschland, gab es im vergangenen Jahres großes Stühlerücken im Management und gleich mal die Ansage der neuen Bosse, 11.000 Arbeitsplätze streichen zu wollen.Die Stahlbranche ist besonders energieintensiv und befindet sich mitten in verschiedentlichen Transformationsprozessen. Von grünem Stahl ist die Rede, Wasserstoffpipelines spielen eine Rolle und auch die neuerlichen Zollpläne von Donald Trump wirken auf die Zukunftsfähigkeit der Arbeitsplätze.IG Metall und die Betriebsräte wehren sich gegen die Planungen mit sehr beeindruckenden Aktionen. So hat der Betriebsrat Rasselstein schon über 100 Tage ein mobiles Betriebsratsbüro vor den Werkstoren errichtet, Demonstrationen bis hin zum "Feuer der Solidarität", das einer olympischen Fackel gleich zwischen den Standorten getragen wurde, beeindrucken mich zutiefst.Ich unterhalte mich mit Marc Winter, dem BR-Vorsitzenden von Rasselstein, über die Situation der Branche und des Unternehmens in diesem ersten Teil. L'intelligence artificielle (IA) était omniprésente au salon de Barcelone, notamment dans l'univers des smartphones qui affectent directement la vie quotidienne des consommateurs. Les constructeurs ont mis en avant les avancées de l'IA en matière de traduction, de correction d'image sur les smartphones, et son influence croissante sur la qualité et l'expérience client. Selon Franck Abihssira, de nombreuses applications de l'IA, telles que la traduction, la surconsommation d'images et l'amélioration de l'expérience client via les plateformes de streaming, vont désormais toucher de près les utilisateurs. L'IA est aussi un levier de croissance pour les opérateurs télécoms en termes de productivité et d'optimisation, alors que le secteur continue d'investir massivement, notamment dans le déploiement de la 5G et les discussions sur la 6G.Concernant la forte présence chinoise au congrès, l'intervenant reconnaît l'innovation impressionnante de ces acteurs, comme Huawei, mais souligne une certaine méfiance de l'Europe due au contexte géopolitique. Il souligne également les avancées notables de la Corée en matière d'IA et d'innovation.Enfin, Abihssira se veut optimiste quant à la capacité de l'Europe à rivaliser dans le domaine de l'IA et du quantique, mettant en avant les initiatives en France, en Allemagne et au Royaume-Uni. Il souligne l'importance pour l'Europe de ne pas manquer le train des technologies émergentes pour éviter d'être distancée, tout en reconnaissant le leadership américain dans le secteur digital. Il encourage ainsi l'Europe à investir et se développer pour rester compétitive et prévenir un déclassement potentiel.

Sofian Audry wrote Art in the Age of Machine Learning, an absolute canon read that contextualizes the contemporary flurry of creative AI application and detournement within a much longer lineage of human-machine relations. Their chapter in Choreomata straddles theory and practice, situating Sofian's own work in the field of robotics within a history of questions: how do we communicate to an audience through and with machine performers? How does the external intelligibility of a system complicate its autonomy? How, and why, do we construct empathy with our machine collaborators? In this conversation we discuss Sofian's concept of Apprivoisement, a French term akin to domestication or taming, but one which leans into the mutuality of the relationship without the stain of dominance. We love this term and are eager to watch it seep into the discourse. Grey Walter (e.g. the cybernetic tortoises) and Gordon Pask (the “Colloquy of Mobiles”). They also reference the influence of Rodney Brooks, who argued for the necessity of robotics as an embodying factor within the domain of AI, on the more recent school of cybernetic-adjacent artists (e.g. Bill Vorn, Louis-Philippe Demers, Ken Rinaldo).Sofian references Memo Akten as an inspiration for their concept of Apprivoisement. Akten's work is profoundly important to the media art scene and to the general art world especially with respect to questions about AI.
