How much time do we have to talk about how great NICKFRESH (@nickfreshalive) is? The Soul Train historian joined us for a Grammy adjacent battle of Taylor Swift vs Beyoncé and the results were a blast. We don't want to spoil this episode with a long winded caption about everything we covered but instead we want to give Nick the flowers he deserves. It's always special when we can have these conversations that feel like talking with family and Nick will always hold an honorary seat on the show anytime he wants to join us. Part 2 sooner than later, but for now, enjoy our conversation with the legendary NICKFRESH. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/5on5podcast/support

This episode is coming a little later than we'd originally planned. The GoFundMe page is no longer accepting donations as our community knocked it out of the park with helping Nev's family. When we tell you the DJ Chuckie (@djchuckie) episode is top 3 all time we really mean it. This episode spans dj talk from all corners past and present, outlining the history of some of Chuckie's biggest hits and how he exploded onto the US scene in Miami before he even touched down. Chuckie covers the historic imprint of house music for him and the task of creating his own sound, the Dirty Dutch movement. As we span the eras we dive into the current climate with the lost art of the opening dj and the reality of the prerecorded set and festival platform in general. Any caption for this episode truly won't do it justice so we encourage you to fire it up and take the ride with us. “The most fun I've ever had on a podcast was @5on5pod yesterday” - Fat TonyWhen Oreo Jones put us in contact with Fat Tony (@fattonyrap) I knew he would be the perfect fit to join us on the podcast and holy shit even that was an understatement. In all our episodes so far I'm not sure we've had a moment like THIS where we feel like we're being joined by a long lost brother. Neek brought us a structured battle down south of Chamillionaire vs Lil Flip before we dove into an absolutely off the rails episode that absolutely warrants a part 2. There's no way we could possibly express what an honor it was to have the legendary Greg Wilson (@dj_greg_wilson) on the pod for an in depth history lesson of electro and his roots in dance music as a dj. This episode is important to us on so many levels because so many of these stories needed to be told for djs and producers to grasp a full perspective of what was going on in the early 80s to lead into the rave movement and the explosion of dance music worldwide. If there's any episode you listen to from the show, let it be this one. Thank you a million times over Greg, this is a conversation we will cherish forever.

This week on the podcast we're joined by royalty: the legendary Dirty South Joe @dsjoedeux . If I had to guess, this podcast opening was Neek's favorite… nothing but anime talk for the first 10 minutes, and no you don't have to watch anime to learn something new. Joe speaks on his OP Otaku party @opotakuparty which focuses on the intro and credit music from anime shows. Following that we get into a remarkable battle courtesy of Lowbee: Hypnotize Minds vs Swisha House. After that we slide back into some bloghouse history, our unanimous dislike for M. Night Shyamalan films and Joe's larger than life Super Bowl adventures with Diplo. You're not going to believe the ending of this story.
