Pull out two strips of Gold-Pressed Latinum and submit them in the little box to listen to our episode on the Farenghi, Star Trek The Next Generation's first attempt at a recurring villain race which went incredibly poorly for everyone concerned. From their first appearance in the show when they act like incredibly hyperactive gerbils in the The Last Outpost to their most recent focus in Star Trek Prodigy where we find out more about Dal's past and the conflict between his old life and his new life in First Con-tact to one of Deep Space Nine's many attempts to bring nuance to the species in Family Business when Quark and Rom have to deal with their mother Ishka's becoming involved in what passes for First Stage Feminism in a culture where women can't wear clothes. What a perfect alien race to talk about the day before the British Election gets the money grabbing Tory's out of power after 14 years! Who says Star Trek isn't political? If they do, make them put three strips of latinum in the appropriate hole! EPISODES INCLUDED: The Last Outpost (13:39), First Con-tact (43:35), Family Business (01:03:43) Talking Points Include: They Live and Ironic 4th July movies (we didn't watch ‘They Live,' but instead we watched ‘Slap Shot'), we briefly touch on the inevitable rousting of the Torys, the unfortunate antisemitic coding of the Farenghi, BE INTIMIDATED BY MILES' ARMS! The Robocop vs. The Terminator crossover by Dark Horse Comics, (CORRECTION: Frank Miller HAD started writing and drawing ‘Sin City' the year before) the Monster of the Week RPG, back to the Season One well of Star Trek: The Next Generation, The Bee-Gees, Lisa-Lisa and Cult Jam, where IS the Enterprise's Engineer? Geordi's weird ‘oooooh-wee!' could the Farenghi ever have been a threat? Doctor Who's own Farneghi the Slitheen and how they killed Charlie's interest in Doctor Who back in 2005, the Farenghi design and how it's immediately undercut, Armin Shimmerman giving some great vibes this early on, how this remakes ‘Errand of Mercy,' Captain Picard does a swear, that one episode of ‘The X-Files' what Stephen King wrote contained a swear, Transformers: The Movie dropping a ‘S-Bomb,' Are we actually watching ‘The Mighty Boosh? We want Matt Berry to be a Star Trek Alien, Adele (sound goblins ate anything we had to say further on Adele, apologies for the weird edit) WHY IS ‘ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS' the US Number One in January? Kid Kapici, Sea Power is a Hometown Band, Dal has a Yondu. Charlie is a freak, Charlie also likes to equate Dal from ‘Prodigy' to Poochie, Prodigy excelling at non-humanoid aliens, cartoons for kids these days don't have as much as a reset button as they used to, Prodigy finally does a Starfleet, Warren Ellis and Brian Michael Bendis style decompression in relation to Picard, eventually Charlie will learn how to pronounce René Auberjonois' surname, Living Joy, Montell Jordan and THIS IS HOW WE DO IT, Charlie's love of KINECT Dance Games, Jake Sisko is disturbingly obsessed with his dad's love life, Quark is the lone conservative in a strangely progressive Farenghi family, THE RETURN OF JEFFREY COMBS, Farenghinar is the future tech-bros want, (CULTURAL NOTE: Rounders is the British equivalent of ‘Baseball,') how old is Jake Sisko? At this point during the episode, the weekly Madison Tornado siren test starts going off, Charlie deals with his own FCA in real life, Farenghi culture and their home world is almost set up to be a Gilliam-esque nightmare, once more a reminder that Miles didn't watch ‘Rejoined' for the Trill episode, this isn't a Farenghi Comedy Episode.

Simon Aussel is known for a particularly wild DJing style and leftfield bassy bangers, and it's his curious and playful approach to clubland that's won him loyal fans over the years. Whether photographing drink tokens from gigs or creating an 8-bit version of his debut album on a Game Boy cartridge, he seems to approach every endeavour with childlike joy and wonder—rare qualities in an industry that can leave so many jaded. The Nantes-born, Paris-based artist's love of club culture, digging and world-building has set him on a blazing path in club music. He's released an exceptionally wide range of music, including a Memphis rap tape for Trilogy Tapes, dubstep-trap-jazz hybrids with Egyptian singer Abdullah Miniawy and deadly hard drum for Livity Sound. His mixes, meanwhile, are fast becoming DJ lore thanks to his knack for connecting seemingly opposed genres like new wave and fast techno. Look no further than his now-infamous Dekmantel Selectors set from 2021 or a marathon back-to-back with Skee Mask in 2022. As the French DJ gets more comfortable with story-telling, he's getting more personal and focusing on deeper, slower sounds. That's evident on this RA Podcast—six months in the works—which incorporates woozy downtempo, weighty dub and bleepy beats. Of course, in the chaotic middle section there's plenty of huge basslines, plus old-school electro, acidic techno and even a bouncy edit of the Montell Jordan classic "This Is How We Do It." Showcasing his quirks, influences and growth, this is Simo Cell in prime time. @simocell Read more at https://ra.co/podcast/934

History:The Billboard Top Ten Songs chart for 1995 contains the following names: Coolio, TLC, Seal, Boyz II Men, Mariah Carey, Madonna, and a man named Montell Jordan. This Is How We Do It was a breakout new jack-swing song that topped the Hot 100 for seven weeks and R&B charts for eight. Jordan, tall and handsome with a silky-smooth voice, established himself as a powerful presence in music, brimming with talent, savvy, and charm. Over his nearly twenty-year career in music, Jordan has released seven studio albums, and fourteen singles, and is a Grammy-nominated artist, selling more than 10 million records worldwide. Origins:From South Central Los Angeles to Pepperdine University in Malibu, Montell was on course to attend law school when a professor said one of his biggest regrets was missing the chance to pursue music. In a flash, Montell recognized that if he was ever going to take a shot at music, he needed to do it then. He put together a demo, which eventually landed in the hands of Def Jam Records and Russell Simmons. This Is How We Do It took off, and his first of many number-one singles was born. Following years of awards, achievements, and accolades that never seemed to satisfy, Montell learned that without music, he's a husband, a dad, and a friend. He stepped away from the music business for many years in search of significance over success. “I had to learn who Montell was outside of music to determine that I make music and music doesn't make me.” In that time away, Montell was able to reevaluate his priorities and ultimately find his passion. This was found as he connected with his childhood faith. Ministry:Montell began to realize the difference between gifting and calling. He was gifted with music, but he was called to minister. Speaking, teaching, mentoring, counseling, and writing are some of the many ways Jordan is fulfilling his purpose in ministry today. Jordan now does music again as he has determined both what he is gifted to do and what he is purposed to do and allowed those worlds to meet. Montell served more than 14,000 people from 140 nations around the world each weekend for the last decade as an executive pastor of music, marriage, and men's ministry at Victory World Church in Norcross, GA. He continues to redefine sound through Victory, an ideal place that builds families transforms communities, reconciles cultures, and impacts nations. In his musical past, Montell had already shown an ability to stretch boundaries of genre and style and uses this same ability to influence, impact, and inspire today. Jordan's musical achievements are still recognized worldwide, and he and his wife of 20+ years, Kristin Jordan released a marriage book in October 2017 titled, “Marriage Masterpeace Inc! Making Your Marriage A Masterpeace.” Jordan released his autobiography, “Becoming Unfamous” during the summer of 2016. Montell brings the word of God and personal experience from the music business to provide a practical and applicable understanding of music and worship to light. He still tours on occasion to bring the love of Christ outside the four walls of the church to concert venues all over the world. Montell and Kristin is now a marriage missionary and has founded Marriage Masterpeace Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that seeks to help marriages all around the world by helping men and women reconcile with God and then to each other in efforts to eradicate divorce by taking the option off the table. Music:Montell Jordan's latest single, “When I'm Around You” feat. Grammy award-winning rap artist Lecrae is his first R&B song in nearly ten years! The new song is available NOW on all digital platforms and is currently charting on Urban AC radio! The single is modern R&B with a soulful relevancy easily identifiable as classic Montell Jordan. This new song and album are created to be the soundtrack for married couples (and those who desire to be married) by assisting them in keeping passion alive in their re...

"Better branded people get better jobs." - Cher Jones I first discovered the power of personal branding when I tried to move internally at the company I worked for 17.5 years.  I worked in the US division for 16 years and I wanted to move to the Canadian division to make sure that my work experience was relevant in Canada.  It was like I had moved to Boston for 16 years - the Canadian division kept declining me because they didn't understand my skills and abilities.  Some didn't even know that the company had US division workers in Canada.  I started using internal communication and collaboration tools like Yammer and became active on Linkedin.  I volunteered for hackathons, innovation challenges, ERG committees.  It worked.  I was able to move to the Canadian division, I won an award received by less than 1% of employees and I was asked to found and lead a new ERG for parents and caregivers when the pandemic started. As part of my career pivot, I wanted to deepen my understanding of personal branding and looked to Linkedin for experts.  Cher Jones was one of the people I found.  She comes from a TV background and runs the most useful and interactive Linkedin live shows around.  Her audience engagement is off the charts and I've met some truly generous and interesting people in her comments.  In fact, I met one of my first podcast guests through Cher - Renee Lindo (check out her episode - I think it's #3). These days, Cher is one of the few people I show up live for because the quality of her content is unmatched. We did a video version of this podcast so you get the full energy of Cher.   The most fun part of this episode is when I remind Cher of a time when she caught the eye of the editor-in-chief of LinkedIn, Daniel Roth.  He had put out a call for creators to watch and Cher championed herself.  What was truly awesome was how much of her community came out to celebrate her and endorse her. It was wonderful to see her receive the support and accolades - reciprocity is a beautiful thing.  She did indeed get named a Creator to Watch which opened up opportunities - a feature in a Linkedin marketing piece and 3 Linkedin Learning courses.  It was huge validation of her work and confirmed for her audience and clients that her approach to personal branding works really well. Cher was able to give us the links to the 3 posts that make up this story.  It's like a mini case study of your brand at work.  Go through each post and read the comments.  The honour and respect has in the industry is on full display.  The people commenting are some of the top experts in the world - great people to follow as well.  Feel free to share or comment on the posts to bring them back into the algorithm.  They are so worthwhile and the information Cher provided is evergreen and still useful. if I could choses a song for this I'd pick This Is How We Do It by Montell Jordan. I recommend listening while you read the posts:) You are welcome for the earworm. https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/whats-trending-linkedin-week-daniel-roth/ https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/top-trends-linkedin-higher-eds-hurting-travel-back-plus-daniel-roth https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:6914566445716697089/ Join us for this conversation.  We touch on AI, JZ and the Spice Girls. It's an unforgettable hip-hop relic, a jam whose opening six words alone make you want to party. Wesley has heard “This Is How We Do It” by Montell Jordan countless times since he was a teenager, but it wasn't until hearing it recently at the gym that he had an epiphany: It's a country song. It belongs to a long tradition of country music that expresses love and respect for one's hometown. Wesley explores other songs that have changed in meaning for him over the years (like “Losing My Religion” by R.E.M.), and he considers what happens to music's meaning when the culture around it changes — the way it did with Britney Spears and her hits, in the aftermath of her yearslong struggle to end her court-sanctioned conservatorship.
