Hey Lovelies,Sometimes the quiet things we love are doing the deepest work in us. In this episode of Soul Loveth with Shan, I'm sharing how picking up reading again — and choosing Octavia Butler's Parable of the Sower — has been stirring something powerful in me. Butler's words about preparation, resilience, and self-sufficiency feel like a mirror for the times we're living through. This is a soft conversation about the small, sacred ways we get ready for what's ahead — even when we don't realize it.As you listen, take a moment to ask yourself:• What gifts are your quiet joys planting in you right now?• How might your soft hobby be growing the strength you'll one day need?Let's honor the slow becoming - nothing we do is without purpose. To support our initiative to cultivate authenticity to youth (whom the world deems "at risk" please visit www.soulloveth.com for more information about our mission.

Hello Beautiful People...I must say this one is good good! I had to replay it a couple of times - and I'm sure I'll be led to revisit it again in the future. You know - we hear the word "authenticity" a lot lately, and most view it aestheticaaly or surface - not realize that it encompasses the core of who you are, and the audacity to "show up as you" in the a world that's constantly programming you to conform. Whew... Sit with that for a minute. This episode I peel back more layers as I talk about the "Price of Authenticity." It's going to take some work and constant maintenance of facing yourself and honoring the commitments you've made to yourself in order to live healthy, happy and whole. I hope it resonates with you.Until next time, Blessing***Soul Search/ Creative Reflection:~How did you honor the commitments you made to yourself this week?~In what environments do you find yourself code switching?~List 3 moral codes that you stand on. ~When those codes are challenged - what are some examples of how you've stayed true to them?
It's funny how doing the responsible things come off as "boring". In this day and age - where moving and shaking, being "outside" at every event -living this YOLO life is what's celebrated and deemed sexy and cool. But we're grown ups here. Having your affairs in order, doing day to day things like watering your plants, praying, meditating - trying a new recipe, paying your bills, not wanting to be "outside" all of the time - and just chilling in the house doing "nothing on purpose" is Sexy and Cool as well.Stability looks good on you. Don't let this world try to tell you different.
Where did the time go? Why is time moving so fast? If only I had enough time... How often do you say these things? Is time really moving faster or are we preoccupied with so "stuff" that time just passes up by?Tune in this week as I take about way to slow down time. Is that even possible? Absolutely! We have dominion over time -- you slow it down my doing a mental inventory of what's wasting your time and put systems in place to preserve it.Until next week,Blessings-----------Follow on Insta : @SoulLovethFor ways to support our Soul Loveth Wellness Circles : check us out atwww.soulloveth.com
Ok... We've seen the tricks before. It's election season - I feel the tension and fear mongering being turned up a notch. Yes, the world has been a chaotic circus for a while now - but some how we've found a new normal way of dealing with shock and unpredictability of it all. This week -- let's be mindful of our thoughts and emotions during this political cycle. Observe, but don't Absorb. Use wisdom in positioning yourself - yet, don't let the noise dictate your movement and wellbeing.
Hey Lovelies! It's been a minute... I haven't forgotten about the pod - but y'all know life be lifin'! We've really been focused on building the wellness program for at risk youth, it's been a year in the making, navigating the environment, working with the government, and still maintaining the salon and daily life needs. What I've learned since the pandemic is to not get too attached to anything. Be fully present, do the work - yet know when it's time to shift, or move on to the next thing. Time is moving fast. In this episode I talk about change and embracing the sometimes uncomfortable thoughts and feeling that come along with it. I also update you on the happenings with the Soul Loveth Wellness Project. Thanks for tuning in.Until next time,Blessings
Ahhhhh... Life is not about the absence of problems and situations. Things happen. All of this self care and self love comes into play when we're able to apply God's grace and natural strategies to help us cope through the "stuff."We already know what to do - we just have to be intentional about the application.Tune in as we explore more.Blessings
Happy New Year!! I know, y'all are like "girl, it's February . Hey, needed to take a much needed deep breath after last year, and Ease into 2024 refreshed and renewed! no pressure. How"s your New Year going so far?
Self Love looks different for each individual. What feeds or soothes someone else's needs may not be the remedy for you. We have to really push to honor our differences. Trying not to dismiss or discredit how you show up in the world because it looks different than someone else. What works for you? How do you present your self to the world? What do you need to focused and balanced? This type of awareness is not easy - but its so needed to foster peace of and staying true to yourself .
In this world of "influence" and conformity - it can become a daily fight to "stay true to you." What are your true thoughts and ideas? What's your true style and comfort? What are you filtering your actions through? Hey, sometimes its easier to "go along to get along" or follow blue prints that's already established, but for me - I Can Not. Even if it makes me stand out and often times, stand alone, I have to honor how God created me. It's a reason some things make you uncomfortable, make you take pause or simply just get on your nerves. It's also a reason why certain things make you smile, inspires your creativity and makes you feel at peace. Through out my life I've learned to pay attention to it all. Yes, evolving is a beautiful, however honoring and accepting some things about yourself that somehow remains the same no matter how hard you try to "Change It," is priceless...Stay true to you,Blessings
Don't look away... We've already become so desensitized to the craziness of the world. I get it, it's too much. For my personal self care, I monitor what kind of news I take in. Pay attention to what's going on "observe but don't absorb." Be honest with yourself about what you're seeing and feeling, even if you don't fully understand what going on. Don't betray your own consciousness by denying the truth "YOU SEE"... What I'm seeing with these political wars are not in alignment with the personality of the God I have a relationship with. Racism, classism, murder of children, destruction, greed, hate and the list goes on and on... The fact that some of things are being justified biblically is appalling to me.Pray for Humanity... We're all sharing this earth space - break the strong hold of "divide and conquer". Sit still and let God speak to and through you. Through prayer and meditation solutions and action is manifested. Blessings,Shan
It's ok to have a "moment." I know we're conditioned to be so strong and full of faith that we have forgotten how to be human.
Hey Lovelies... It's been a few weeks. I hope you all are still finding time to sit still and Breathe. Not just when problem arise. Everyday if possible, checking in with yourself. Join me this week for a "lighthearted" body scan meditation to bring some sense of order and stillness this week. I'm speaking to myself first.
Hey lovelies! It's been a few weeks- but trust me, you all have been on my heart and in my prayers. My focus has been occupied with a new project I've been working on - now I'm a bit more settled and can “shift” my energy back “here!” Whew… I felt a release just typing that statement.I've really been putting into practice everything I've been sharing here- being intentional about embracing “Ease” in the midst of “movement” .. Breathing through new experiences and daily task - purposely not letting the “grind, fear of the unknown and yes, excitement” overwhelm me.Breathe with me this week as we embrace Ease with compartmentalization of thoughts and a harmonious flow of breath… 10 minutes is all you need
There's a saying that goes "The same faith it takes to get, will take the same faith to keep..." Truer words have never been spoken. Especially in this essential season of trying to maintain "balance" and making self-care a priority. As we continue to build and add on in life - we have to put systems in place to help us maintain and not feel overwhelmed.
Hi Lovelies,I'm here to tell you that the battlefield of the mind is Real. We really have to have the tools to navigate our thoughts, feelings and emotions so that we can focus on producing the work that's in our heart to do.Tune in as I talk about strategies to help you stay focused and tune out the distractions while in your creative process. Breathing is essential, however - we also must also disengage from things that's competing for our attention. If only for a season.
It's amazing to have goals and dreams, but pursing them sometimes can cause stress and negative emotions because we forget to enjoy the journey "In the Mean Time..."Life is to be lived and experienced, we can't do that if our happiness and wellbeing is only attached to our striving and accomplishments. We must be intentional about enjoying and embracing the present moment. Can't be all work and no play. Im talking from experience here - I had to learn to give myself permission to "play" because I'd rather work or deep dive mentally - often times with no balance, just go go go.... I have to make a conscious decision Daily to take deep breaths, be anxious for nothing and embrace the peace... In the meantime. Blessings
Hey Lovelies... I know life has been moving forward, that's a wonderful thing. I hope that in your forward movement you've still been dedicated to your self care, you know - the simple things like being present, deep breathing, creating or whatever You Do to help you feel your best!In this episode I talk about when you don't understand "The Purpose of A Thing" that neglect or abuse of that thing will soon follow. Yeah, we don't want that! We want to be intentional on cultivating the things about us that helps us flow through life beautifully.
Some say imitation is a form of flattery... That has never sat well with me. Being a creative person that really puts the work into understanding myself, into seeing the world through a broader lens, that's intentional about creating and experiencing life in a way that inspires a impactful expression -- it kind of ticks me off when I see my "vibe" trying to be packaged by individuals other than myself... Like really? Inspiration is one thing, but being a carbon copy of someone is kinda creepy. I hope you could feel my frustration in what I just wrote. (Not my typical kinda post, kinda taboo, but this is where I am today). It's real and I'm being honest. But also something that I have to work on overcoming. I peep the malice but I have to not let it slow me down or get under my skin. I also have to not give into the urge to compete with what I see out of some sense of vengeance. My mantra or affirmation has to be that "NO ONE CAN DUPLICATE ME..." "What God has for Me is for ME..." So I acknowledge my feelings but I don't let them get the best of me. But in the past it has grind my gears! Now I monitor what and how I share things. I'm also understanding that we're in a social space where nothing is off limits, moral codes and ethics are basically extinct. It's a every person for his or herself attitude in the atmosphere, so selfishness and opportunistic tendies are starting to overshadow everyday love and respect for humanity. Do we cry about it and go into a shell? Maybe, but don't stay there. What we also do is keep reminding ourselves that we are all created with a unique purpose - our mission is to continue doing the work that causes us to Show Up as our authentic selves.. Always... No matter who's copying.
I had the most relaxing "Me" time this past Saturday. Funny thing is, I didn't even plan it out. It was kinda last minute. So much so, it was my nudge and reminder to "schedule" myself in on a regular basis. We can get so caught up in the redundancy of daily life that burn out is inevitable. Tune in and let's use our creative juices to take time for ourselves...
This week we'll be focusing our meditation on goal setting and how to stay focused during the "walking it out" process.
We have to learn strategies to help use thrive through unsavory situations. Yes, that "thing" or that "person" knocked you out of your focus - but we can't the situation deter us from our ultimate goal... Take a deep breath with me this week and lets get back to what matters most... Peace.
