Reverend Ben Patterson is the Campus Pastor at Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California. Ben served the New Providence Presbyterian Church of New Jersey from 1989 until his appointment as Dean of the Chapel at Hope College in 1993. From 1975 to 1989 he was with the Irvine Presbyterian Church of California, of which he was the founding pastor. Ben was also minister of youth and adult education at the La Jolla Presbyterian Church of California. Previous to that he was assistant minister to college students at the First Baptist Church of Pomona, California working with the Claremont Colleges. Ben Patterson earned his bachelor’s degree from La Verne University in 1966 and his master’s of divinity from The American Baptist Seminary of the West in 1972.
Gayle Beebe became Westmont eighth president July 1, 2007. He comes from Spring Arbor University, where he served as president for seven years. He earned doctorate in philosophy of religion and theology from Claremont Graduate University, an MBA from the Peter F. Drucker Center at CGU and an M. Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary. He was general editor of the Renovare Spiritual Formation Study Bible and co-authored (with Richard Foster) Longing for God: Seven Approaches to the Christian Life.
Gary W. Moon, former executive vice president/provost and professor of psychology and spirituality at Richmont Graduate University in Atlanta, is the first director of the Martin Family Institute and Dallas Willard Center for Spiritual Formation at Westmont. Moon also serves as director for the Renovaré International Institute for Christian Spiritual Formation and as editor-in-chief for Conversations: A Forum for Authentic Transformation.
Bonnie Fearer grew up in various places across the U.S. as the daughter of a Wall St. Journal reporter/editor. She is a proud Westmont alum (1981), and now serves on the pastoral staff at Santa Barbara Community Church, her church family since her own Westmont days. Her greatest loves are husband Todd, sons Sam, Nate, and Gabe. She is an avid lover of the outdoors, and happily sheds calendar and technology for hikes, and working in her mini backyard organic "farm."

Angela began serving as Director of Campus Life in 2007. Highlights of the role include discovering students’ passions, advising WCSA, overseeing Orientation and improving the experience of Westmont students through leadership training and creative new programming. Angela is a Westmont alumna with a BS degree in Psychology and she earned a Masters degree in Higher Education from the University of Vermont. She previously worked as an RD and Asst. Dean of First Year Students at Dartmouth College.
Sherry Harney (B.A. Calvin College; M.A. in Theology, Fuller Theological Seminary) is a speaker, author, and editor, and has served the local church in the areas of staff leadership and children’s ministry. She serves as the Women’s Director at Shoreline Community Church in Monterey, where her husband, Kevin serves as Lead Pastor. Together, Kevin and Sherry have coauthored, Finding a Church You Can Love and Organic Outreach for Families. They also have collaborated on and co-written over sixty small group study guides with authors such as Bill Hybels, John Ortberg, Dallas Willard, Gary Thomas, Randy Frazee and Max Lucado. Most recently, Sherry continues to collaborate with other authors such as Christine Caine and Ann Voskamp.
Joel Pelsue is the Founder and President of Arts and Entertainment Ministries (AEM) in Los Angeles, CA. AEM is dedicated to equipping artists on the front lines of the mainstream culture, and educating the church about the biblical call to engage the culture. Joel has a B.A in Philosophy from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, CA., and his M.Div. from Reformed Theological Seminary. He is ordained in the PCA (Presbyterian Church in America), and has been a pastor in New York and in Los Angeles. Joel has taught, lectured or preached all over the country for colleges, arts ministries, churches and seminaries As a musician, Joel started playing in orchestra pits when he was 14, and plays sax, flute, clarinet, and oboe. His first CD, "Windsome Thirst" played on radio stations across the country and is currently in its second printing.

For over two decades Duncan Morrow has been a leader in peacemaking and reconciliation efforts in Northern Ireland. After receiving his PhD in Politics at the University of Edinburgh, his early scholarly research included exploring the role of churches and religion in the Northern Irish conflict. He helped found the Understanding Conflict Trust, an organization designed to facilitate dialog around the conflict’s most divisive issues. For nearly ten years he headed the Community Relations Council, championing the concept of a shared future between conflicting communities. Dr. Morrow now serves as the Director of Community Engagement and Lecturer in Politics at the University of Ulster (Northern Ireland).
Mark L. Sargent assumed the role of Provost at Westmont College in the spring of 2012. A graduate of UC Santa Barbara, he earned his master's degree and doctorate in English at The Claremont Graduate University, specializing in American literature. He taught as a Fulbright scholar at the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands and has written widely on history, literature, film, and higher education. For his research on William Bradford, he was awarded the Whitehill Prize in early American history. After holding administrative roles at Biola University and Spring Arbor College, he served as provost of Gordon College in Massachusetts from 1996-2012.. In 2008 the Council of Independent Colleges gave him the national Chief Academic Officers Award.

Maurice Lee came to Westmont in 2008. He teaches Christian Doctrine and upper-division theology courses. Maurice received a B.S. in mathematics from Wheaton College, an M.S. in computation and neural systems from the California Institute of Technology, an M.A. in theolgy from Fuller Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. in religious studies (theology) from Yale University. Before coming to Westmont, he did postdoctoral research in theology and evolution at Harvard University.
Shannon Balram worked at Westmont as the Resident Director of Page Hall. She comes from Lee University, where she served as a Upperclassmen Resident Director for four years and earned her M.A. in Theological Studies. While at Lee, Shannon also served as an adjunct professor for New Testament and Old Testament Studies. It was in those introductory courses that Shannon fell in love with first year students, and is what inspired her to continue in Residence Life after Lee University. She has a huge passion for students, and a deep conviction that community living reflects the image of God. That humanity is in need of one another, and in our concrete relationships we can see reflected the Trinitarian life of our dynamic God.

Before coming to Westmont in January, 1994, he taught at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio.
Joy Eggerichs serves as the Director of Love and Respect Now. She began her journey in ministry working as the Love and Respect Conference Coordinator for her parents, Dr. Emerson and Sarah Eggerichs. She has researched 18-35 year olds and desires to serve the next generation of people getting married…or not getting married. Joy graduated with a degree in Communications Studies from Westmont College in 2004.
Raymond J. Bakke founded International Urban Associates (IUA) in 1989. IUA animated a network of more than 100 urban-based church and mission leaders in many of the largest cities of the world. Dr. Bakke serves as Chancellor, distinguished professor of global urban ministry and member of the Board of Regents at Bakke Graduate University of Ministry. Ray is the author of a number of books, including A Theology as Big as the City and Street Signs.

A diving accident in 1967 left 17-year-old Joni Eareckson a quadriplegic in a wheelchair, unable to use her hands. After two years of rehabilitation, Joni re-entered the community with new skills and a fresh determination to help others in similar situations. Having been catapulted onto a national stage, Joni founded Joni and Friends (JAF) in 1979 to accelerate Christian ministry in the disability community throughout the world.
Pastor Carol A. Houston ministers in the Watts community of Los Angeles, California. With a passion for winning souls and empowering disciples of Jesus, she serves as Senior Pastor of Bethel Unspeakable Joy Christian Fellowship Church, Inc. Pastor Carol received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Denver where she also taught Physical Education and Recreation. For eight years she was a secondary school educator in the City of Compton, California. Her postgraduate studies include Physical Education and Recreation, Gerontology, Educational Administration, Speech Communication and Theology. Pastor Carol serves as trustee of Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California and Helping Hands, Inc. in Garden Grove, California.

Fr. Love enrolled at Westmont College where he majored in Political Science and Economics, graduating in 1984. He entered St. John’s Seminary in Camarillo, and was ordained to the Roman Catholic priesthood in 1990. He started serving as a diocesan clergyman in parish work for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, CA in 1990. During this time, he went back to school and received a doctorate from The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC where he studied the moral formation of medical students. Father Love has served in numerous pastoral assignments as associate pastor, administrator and pastor. He is currently pastor of St. Mark’s University Parish, serving the students and faculty of the University of California at Santa Barbara (UCSB). He is a magistral chaplain of the Order of Malta, which is an international organization directed toward those suffering the double cross of sickness and extreme poverty. He is a member of an Institutional Review Board for scientific protocols at Amgen, Inc. in Thousand Oaks, CA and is a chaplain – With Professor Bill Nelson of Westmont - at the 146th Air Wing of the Air National Guard. Father Love has published several peer-reviewed articles on the relationship between medicine and religion.
