The Human Side of Enterprise".

Peter F. Drucker once said: “Whenever you see a successful business, someone once made a courageous decision.” In our recent listener survey hundreds of you described how you wanted to have your own business.  Today I'm going to grab some of your questions and we'll look at ways to move through the tough parts of doing something on your own. We're going to look at a growing phenomenon called “full-time children” where kids have given up getting a job and are just staying home.  Remember the movie with Matthew McConaughey - Failure to Launch Tripp, a 35-year-old professional layabout, is happy to stay at home where he's waited on hand and foot by his mum Sue. However, she and her husband Al have had enough and decide that to get him to leave, they have to use subtle methods. So, they hire Paula who will use her feminine wiles to lever him out of the family home.   So, grab your cup of tea - or maybe your Mt. Dew - and get ready for a power-packed episode filled with practical advice, inspiring stories, and valuable resources to help maximize your opportunities So here are our discussion points for today's episode: Questions:  1. Do you have any “full-time children” living at your house?  2. Are you a “discouraged worker”?  3. I absolutely love my work, however, I know deep in my heart it could be better..  4. Connie's motivational quote for today is by – Peter F. Drucker, “The most important thing in communication is hearing what isn't said."  Our bodies speak volumes…do you know what your body is saying? I learned early on that my body language spoke to my client more than my words.  They reacted to me based on how open or closed my body was to receive their responses.  Here are some statistics on how others process our messages:  55% of our communication with other humans is perceived or processed through our body language or non-verbal cues.  38% of our communication or perception of others is through tone of voice.  That leaves a whopping 7% of the messaging we send out based on words.   Watch it on YouTube: https://youtu.be/3fs4QLjwXdQ   About Rachel Cossar:  Rachel is a leader in nonverbal communication and leadership presence facilitation. Episode 366: 6 Ways to Ensure Integrity in Your Business Episode Notes Where there is a business, there are humans. Where there are humans, there are needs. Where there are needs, there are opportunities to meet those human needs. When we neglect meeting human needs, humans get off track and fall out of integrity. Business records can help us maintain integrity in how we do business if we intend to operate a business with integrity. I have teased the content into bite-sized, digestible parts to support your journey to using the following six ways to ensure integrity in your business records. Summary Last week I outlined the first three ways to ensure integrity in your business records, starting with you. Today you will learn the 4th  way to ensure integrity in your business records after summarizing the first three. Business records build confidence and trust within the business, customers, and communities. Business records also help us track where we have been, where we are, and where we are going, and they can save us thousands and millions of dollars. According to Wikipedia, “business records are documents (hard copy or digital) that capture an act, condition, or event related to the business.” Building confidence and trust in business starts with the business owner(s) and entrepreneurial leader. This is why the #1 way to ensure integrity with business records is to do a self-leadership integrity assessment. Answer these questions: What are my core values? What are my business's core values and mission? Am I willing to live according to my core values and meet my seven universal human needs of physical well-being, honesty, play, peace, autonomy, meaning, and connection? Do I have a path to get back on track when I run a relationship in the ditch? What about those I employ and contract? Can I create a path to help them get back on track? Am I open to course corrections, making amends, and doing better? If the answer to all of the questions above, except the first one, is yes, you can live and lead with integrity. Go on to #2. If your answer is no, find a way to answer yes, then proceed. If you need help, reach out to me. The 2nd way to ensure integrity in your business records is to set high communication and accountability standards by requiring everyone to take 100% responsibility for what they think, feel, say, and do. This sets the tone letting everyone know that mistakes happen. What we do after making a mistake is the focus—taking responsibility for fixing the error, learning from the mistake, or finding a different solution. New ideas can come from mistakes, so train people to look at mistakes as opportunities for personal and business growth. Start regular accountability meetings that promote mutual respect and mutual purpose with who does what, when, and by when with a follow-up. Brainstorm potential barriers to deadlines and commitments and instill natural consequences if responsibilities aren't fulfilled. The 3rd way is to build an ethical organization around information and communication. Modify your mindset and know the purpose of documenting the act, condition, or business event. Because the act, condition, or business event needing documentation doesn't always generate income, business owners can get sloppy running their businesses, leading to problems with the IRS, cashflow issues, data entry, employee problems, legal issues, etc. I appreciate management guru Peter F. Drucker's pragmatic approach to improving work relationships. Instead of building in layers of hierarchy, which promotes disconnection, Peter found that the most important thing to do is to create an organization, whatever the size, around information and communication. You can do this by training people to ask two questions. I added a third question. What information do I need to do my job – from whom, when, and how? What information do I owe others so that they can do their job, in what form, and when?

Keynes 1883-1946),但跟隨熊彼德(Joseph A. Schumpeter 1883-1950)。

Today we will be reviewing and riffing off of The Essential Drucker, which is a 350-page compilation of some of Peter F. Drucker's most notable writings.  And for those of you who may not know, Peter Drucker, referred to by some as the "Father of Modern Management," was a journalist-turned-management consultant who made it his life's work to understand and communicate the practices of management and leadership as he witnessed them unfold.  Drucker also became a major figure in the development of management education and first introduced the now widely known and practiced concept of “management by objectives.”  Born in 1909, Mr. Drucker was in his mid-30's when he began to witness the evolution of the first corporate enterprises—entities that are now both ubiquitous in developed societies and aligned with what we refer to today as “modern management.”  And, according to John Byrnes and Lyndsey Gerdes in their article, “The Man who Invented Management,” he predicted many of the major developments of the late 20th Century, including privatization and decentralization, the rise of Japan to economic world power, the decisive importance of marketing, and the emergence of the information society and that society's most critical component, the knowledge worker, which is a term Drucker coined in 1959. The most powerful leaders inspire and empower those who follow to create their way. This means teaching those you lead to solve problems and make decisions without you being there. When you lead in this way it's natural that those you lead will continually evolve to higher levels of performance. The natural by-product will be that the people you lead will grow as individuals and as a team. This is how you create impact as a leader.

Previously unpublished talks from the Father of Modern Management. Throughout his professional life, Peter F. Drucker inspired millions of business leaders not only through his famous writings, but also through his lectures and keynotes. These speeches contained some of his most valuable insights but had never been published in book form - until now. The Drucker Lectures features more than 30 talks from one of management's most important figures. Drawn from the Drucker Archives at the Drucker Institute at Claremont Graduate University, the lectures showcase Drucker's wisdom, wit, profundity, and prescience on such topics as: Politics and economics of the environment Knowledge workers and the Knowledge Society Computer and information literacy Managing nonprofit organizations Globalization During his life, Drucker well understood that over the last 150 years the world had become a society of large institutions - and that they would only become larger and more powerful. He contended that unless these institutions were effectively managed and ethically led, the good health of society as a whole would be in peril. His prediction is unfolding before our eyes. The Drucker Lectures is a timely, instructive book proving that responsible behavior and good business can, in fact, exist hand in hand.

A commemorative edition of Peter F. Drucker's timeless classic work on leadership and management, with a foreword by Jim Collins. What makes an effective executive? For decades Peter F. Drucker was widely regarded as "the dean of this country's business and management philosophers" (Wall Street Journal). In this concise and brilliant work, he looks to the most influential position in management - the executive. The measure of the executive, Drucker reminds us, is the ability to "get the right things done". This usually involves doing what other people have overlooked as well as avoiding what is unproductive. Intelligence, imagination, and knowledge may all be wasted in an executive job without the acquired habits of mind that mold them into results. Drucker identifies five practices essential to business effectiveness that can - and must - be mastered: Managing time Choosing what to contribute to the organization Knowing where and how to mobilize strength for best effect Setting the right priorities Knitting all of them together with effective decision making Ranging across the annals of business and government, Drucker demonstrates the distinctive skill of the executive and offers fresh insights into old and seemingly obvious business situations.
