You think you just don't have the discipline or the willpower, or the right plan, or mabe you think there's something wrong with your body... none of that is true. You have it all. Your body is perfect. Even the plan is perfect. The problem lies in the reason you're doing the plan.  Most people are following a plan to lose weight. And that's the mistake. Do you trust yourself? Do you trust yourself enough to have chocolate in the house ? Do you trust yourself enough to rest when your body needs it ? Do you trust yourself enough to say no to things you don't want to do?  A big topic that comes up when we talk about creating vitality in the body is learning how to trust ourselves again- how to trust our hunger, our cravings, and our need for rest.  Most people don't trust their body to tell them what the right decision is around food, movement, and rest. Which is why people go to coaches, to tell them what to do.  Learning from a coach or a plan can be good in the beginning to get guidance. But once you have this knowledge, then it's time to take off the training wheels and learn how to trust your own intuition, your own wisdom, your own body. Tune in to learn how Natalie has built her up her own trust within herself and how she teaches her clients to trust their bodies again.   "When we finally give ourselves free reign, we go and eat everything. We need to all the chocolate, all the sweets, all the fun foods , and then we go 'I  can't trust myself' but it's actually some energy imbalance going on that's causing this back swing of 'now I need to eat back that energy.'" - Natalie Newhart   Connect with Coach Nat! Tune in to learn how Natalie teaches herself and her clients how to let go of control.    "Forcing ourselves to follow the plan may make us feel safe, but is it really creating the life you want? It's so easy to get caught up in thinking that "when I have the body I want, THEN I'll be happy." But it doesn't work like that. You may experience short-term gratification when you achieve the body you want, but it's only a matter of time until you feel empty inside again.  And the truth is, needing a particular body to feel happy is often the very thing that keeps women from achieving the body they're after because it creates attachment. Attachment to the body creates worry and fear of losing the body (obsessing over food, calories, step count, scale weight). Living in this constant worry and fear will create a body that doesn't burn fat well, will lead you to eat more, and make the gym feel like a chore. Attachment to a particular body will create a life of worry and fear instead of the peace and happiness that we're all after. There is a way to create both fitness and happiness though! Tune in to this episode to hear how.  "So yes, we can strive for a vision of the body we want . But do not look expect it to create the absolute fulfillment. The way to feel more passion for life or peace in your life is to feel it. Emotions can be trained just like muscles. The more we feel peace in our lives, the stronger it gets. So the way we train happiness is to feel it. In fact, happiness is our natural state.  However, most people are not aware of how they are so quick to give up their happiness. They allow the smallest things to shake them and cause them to not feel great- from an email that comes in, or how their clothes fit, or if somebody walks on their floor with dirty shoes.  In this episode, Natalie shares practical approach on how to train happiness so that you can feel great more of the time.  "No matter how good life is, no matter no matter what body we have, now how much money we have, no matter how many people we have that love and care about us... all those things immediately don't matter when we're stuck in painful emotions of sadness, or fear, or anger. This constant is what makes our life get into a routine. Although routines are very important in terms of organization and structure, how can we do some things differently and eventually bring more joy into our lives? In this episode of FitChic for Life, Natalie dives deep into this concept of ‘breaking routines, finding freedom, and enjoying life no matter what. Self-sabotage is the feeling that comes to the surface when we don't ‘stick to the plan'. But it's important to analyze this feeling from a different angle: is there such a thing as self-sabotage? Surely, we don't avoid doing things that are good for us because we want to. We don't skip the gym, eat the chocolate, and skip meditation because we want to. There's a more powerful force behind these decisions: our mind. In this episode, Natalie dives deep into this concept, explaining that our mind sometimes plays trick on us and make us do things that – deep down – we don't want to be doing. Natalie explains that it's almost like a game of battling our minds and our emotions and forcing ourselves to ‘stick to the plan'. Monk Shen also speaks about his background and the reasons that inspired him to become a monk. He also sheds some light on resting. Resting is a fundamental key to relaxing the mind and living a better life. In terms of training, Shi Miao explains that during a training routine when the body is burning and almost giving up, the mind can come into place and help the body to unblock its limitations and do more. You will also learn the concept of self-mastery (not listening to the mind and being a master over your thoughts). Shi Miao also speaks briefly about his past with anxiety and panic attacks and how he overcame them. “Don't fight the mind. If you fight the mind you're already locked in, and then you'll give up. In this episode of FitChic for Life, Natalie talks about how fundamental it is to be aware and pay attention to the way we talk to ourselves and to the words we use to think about things. Using the gym as an example, you might think about the workout as something draining, super hard, and a part of the day you just want to ‘get over with'. If you use these words when thinking about the workout, there's absolutely zero chance that it will actually be an enjoyable experience, right? We can apply this concept to many areas of life like work, relationships, house tasks… but the main focus here is health. Also, the way we think about diet on a daily basis can be improved with the right self-talk. We can view foods as a source of nourishment and wellness or as a source of stress and restriction. Approaching things with the right talk, the right descriptions, and the right mentality is key to living a stress-free lifestyle. “The person that is working out every single day and actually enjoying it, they have a particular way of thinking about the gym, thinking about the body, they have a particular conversation that's going on inside them. Likewise, the person that is compassionate with the people in their life and has really meaningful relationships, that person shows up a particular way… not just because that shows who they are, but because they've trained themselves – whether knowingly or unknowingly – to think a certain way.” – Natalie Newhart Connect with Natalie! Focusing on what we're doing in this moment, enjoying whatever is happening right now, paying attention to the details of where we are, and actually being with the people that are with us are all things we can do to be fully present, and it gets easier with practice. Natalie also makes a parallel between the weather inside of us and the weather outside of us. Just like the stormy clouds and the grey sky cover the sun, the sadness, anxiety, and depression cover the true and bright feelings that exist in our core: happiness, gratitude, and joy. The majority of the time we feel these inferior feelings because a) we are worrying about what's coming next; b) we are not savoring the present, and c) we are not even aware of it. Let's practice awareness! “When the mind is still and we're connected to the present moment, there's going to be that sense of peace. There's going to be our natural state. In terms of fitness, food, and health, these attachments can exist on a large scale and on a daily basis – which makes living life really hard. Besides the notion of attachments and how they can be the root of a lot of suffering, Natalie also sheds light on the difference between attachment and connection. Welcome to FitChic for Life with Natalie Newhart! In this opening episode, Natalie welcomes her friend Liza to ask Natalie questions about herself in a fun, and relaxed manner. The purpose of this episode is for you to get to know Natalie, and learn how she got started helping women to find peace with food and fitness. Through struggles, strict food restriction and obsession, eating disorders, and competitions, Natalie eventually realized that freedom exists when you can master your mind. If you're struggling with your body image, are tired of counting calories or macros, and are just so done with the stress of it all, Natalie shares how she used to be in the exact same place. Through learning the importance of making a huge mindset shift, Natalie was able to find peace with food and the gym, and now she teaches other women to do the same. Her specialty is helping women to realize that the stress in their lives is what is causing their weight loss to stall, and it is of utmost importance to address the stress in their lives.  Quote “If I could just leave everybody with one thing: It's getting clear about what you want. I thought I wanted to win, be fit, and be the best, but what I realized is that what I wanted was just to be happy.” – Natalie Newhart Connect with Natalie! Are you THAT girl?  That girl that's hitting the gym, eating well, and still not seeing changes in her body? That girl that's over 30 and confused on why the diets that used to work for you no longer work for you? That girl that has the discipline to work hard but struggles to rest and sit still? That girl whose lost her love for the gym? That girl that keeps falling off track because her motivation runs out? Well, if you answered yes to any of these, you're in the right place. At 28, I found myself in a constant cycle of worrying and obsessing over my next meal and my next workout. I lived in a constant fear of getting fat, so food and the gym ruled my mind and my life.  I was so tired of it all! Tired of counting macros. Tired of thinking about food. Tired of feeling like my workout was never “enough”. And mostly, I was tired of working my butt off, doing all the right things, and it not making a difference in how I looked that next day.  I wanted out of that dieting mindset, and I just wanted to be fit while having a peace of mind. But no matter where I looked, no diet and no coach seemed to have cracked that code... so I cracked it on my own.  In this podcast, you'll finally get the solutions to a balanced fit lifestyle that you've been looking for. A blend of science and mindset, I'm going to teach you how to MASTER your body by mastering your MIND.  Together we'll talk female-specific nutrition, fitness, mindset, relationships and all things life after 30. If you're done with being entertained with the common dieting advice, fed up with short term results, and tired of having an obsessive relationship with food and the gym… then let's get to work.
