If you want to get leaner and live longer, go to Milliondollarbodylabs.com A new 47-year longitudinal study is making the rounds with a scary takeaway: if you weren't fit in your 30s, you're basically out of luck later in life. That interpretation is wrong, incomplete, and lazy. In this episode, we break down what the study actually tracked, what it really tells us about human performance over time, and why fitness is better understood as a trajectory problem, not a deadline problem. We talk about how aerobic capacity, strength, and power tend to peak earlier in life, why that early peak gives you margin later on, and where people misinterpret "decline" as "doom." We also zoom out and connect this research to other well established predictors of longevity and independence like grip strength, VO2 max, daily movement, and basic functional capacity. If you've ever wondered whether starting later means it's pointless, or whether what you do now still matters, this episode puts that question to rest. The answer is not comforting, but it is empowering. What You'll Learn What the 47-year study actually measured and what it did not Why fitness peaks earlier but remains modifiable for decades How starting level and rate of decline matter more than age alone Why grip strength, aerobic capacity, and movement volume predict longevity The difference between locking in a baseline and locking in your fate The real takeaway for people in their 30s, 40s, and beyond Key Takeaway You don't age out of fitness. You age into consequences. The goal isn't to stay young. The goal is to raise your floor and slow the slope.

Long days, physical work, skipped meals, mental fog… flower farming asks a lot of your body, and it is easy to hit burnout long before the season ends. In this episode of the Six Figure Flower Farming Podcast, Jenny sits down with fitness and nutrition coach for women in agriculture, Lindsey Sherman, to talk about what really happens when farming becomes your only “workout.” Together they dig into the aches, low energy, and overwhelm so many farmers face, and why strength training, mobility, and consistent meals can completely change how you feel on the farm. Lindsey shares simple, doable strategies to build energy and resilience without adding hours to your schedule, from packing easy snacks to creating separate routines for busy and slow seasons. Jenny opens up about her own shift from constant hustle and meal skipping to short walks, meal delivery, and setting herself up for success. If you want to feel stronger, clearer headed, and able to farm for the long haul, this conversation is full of practical ideas to help you take better care of the person running the farm: you.Follow Lindsey Online:Website: lindseyshermanfit.comInstagram: @lindseysherman_fitnessDid you enjoy this episode? Her latest venture is Sprezzatura Sports, a company providing health and fitness training for sports fencers and historical martial artists. Of course, her main claim to fame is having appeared on this show before in episode 114. Things have changed for Liz since our last conversation in 2022, as at the time of recording, she was preparing to move herself, her dog, and maybe her horse over to the UK to start a master's degree in Sport, Strength and Conditioning at Loughborough University. It's just Liz doing the degree, not the dog or the horse. In our conversation we talk about recovery from injury, how to stay injury free and take care of our bodies as we age. We also talk about training for historical fencing, training for tournaments, and dealing with both the mental and physical sides of tournament fencing. Liz is a mounted combat enthusiast, and we discuss vaulting onto your horse – while in full armour – and how this was an essential part of the medieval training, despite seeming pretty impossible to us modern folk.

In this powerful episode, CJ dives into Chapter 4 of his book Your Diet Fails: The Ultimate Cheat Code to Eating Out and Staying Fit. This chapter is a must-listen for anyone who's ever felt awkward saying no to dessert, pressured to “just have one drink,” or judged for trying to stay healthy while everyone else indulges.CJ reframes the way we think about social dining. It's not about restriction or being the odd one out. It's about taking ownership, showing up with calm confidence, and leading by example. You can enjoy your food and your people—without compromising your health.Key Takeaways:People don't react to what you eat—they react to how you make them feel about their own choices. Own yours calmly and you diffuse tension.Social pressure isn't a reason to cave—it's an opportunity to lead. You can indulge, but make it intentional, not accidental. Control the moment so it doesn't control you.Boundaries aren't rude—they're a form of self-respect. And you don't owe anyone an explanation for choosing what's right for you.Dining out is about more than food—it's about connection, presence, and experience.5 Things You Can Start Doing Today:Use confident language when saying no. Say, “I'm good, thanks,” and move on. No guilt, no debate.Prepare a go-to line for common pressure moments. Example: “I've got an early workout tomorrow, so I'm skipping drinks tonight.”Influence the group early by suggesting healthier shared dishes. Leadership beats resistance.Set your boundary before the meal begins. Decide in advance what you'll have and what you'll skip. Stick to it.Slow down and be present. Savor your food, engage in conversation, and appreciate the full dining experience—not just the plate. This episode is a practical, empowering blueprint for navigating meals without guilt or regret. You're not just making a choice—you're building a lifestyle.

Skipping workouts while traveling might not seem like a big deal, but why does it feel so hard to get back into a routine afterward? Dr. Andrew Fix breaks down the challenge of staying consistent with fitness while on the road and why a little effort can make a big difference. Fresh off a work trip to Atlanta, he shares strategies for keeping movement and nutrition in check without overcomplicating things. He talks about fitting in short workouts, making smart food choices without missing out, and avoiding the post-travel slump that can throw everything off track. Travel doesn't have to derail progress. With a few small adjustments, you can return home feeling strong, refreshed, and ready to pick up where you left off. Quotes “What's important when you're traveling is not necessarily to get the same intensity in. If you're going to work out or exercise, it's just to maintain consistency. It's to maintain the routine.” (05:14 | Dr. Andrew Fix) “The inertia to get started is the hardest part. Whether we're talking about getting a car moving, starting a run, or getting back into the nutrition habits you're used to, the inertia of getting something started requires far more energy than simply keeping it going.” (06:11 | Dr. Andrew Fix) “Just because you do something doesn't mean you should feel guilty about it. It's your choice, but just know that for some decisions you make, you may have to sacrifice some other things or you may have to make a later decision as a result of the one you made before.” (09:31 | Dr. Andrew Fix) “Part of why we feel bad a lot of times when we get back from a trip isn't necessarily just from the eating. It's because we didn't move as much as we normally do. Like our body is stiff. We didn't burn the calories. We didn't keep our digestive system and things going.” (10:05 | Dr. Andrew Fix) “Make sure you're getting in the water, the electrolytes, all the other things. And then what we talked about last was just getting in some steps, right? Like whether it's going for a short run, whether it's just going for some walks.” (12:11 | Dr. Andrew Fix) Links https://www.podbean.com/ew/pb-vguev-11d854f SideKick Tool: https://bit.ly/4a6CqJS Movemate: Award-Winning Active Standing Board https://shorturl.at/egkA1 Promo Code: DRA15 15% off RAD Roller: http://radroller.refr.cc/drandrewfix Revogreen https://revogreen.co/drandrewfix HYDRAGUN https://bit.ly/43rAtnX Athletic Brewing: 20% off: https://athleticbrewing.rfrl.co/vrmx8 20% off: ANDREWF20 Connect with Physio Room: Website | https://physioroomco.com/ Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/physioroomco/ Facebook | https://www.facebook.com/physioroomco Andrew's Personal Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/drandrewfix/ Andrew's Personal Facebook | https://www.facebook.com/andrew.fix.9/ Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm
