When one begins to believe that Jesus Christ definitively and decisively saved the Cosmos, it can leave one feeling out of place. Finding a place to belong, a tribe to be loved by can be a real challenge. If God is really good, why is there so much suffering in the world? This is a question that haunts believers and non-believers alike. To make matters worst, many churches teach that God causes suffering in order to bring Himself glory! In this episode, we look at a converstion between Jesus and His disciples that sheds light on this subject. We also take a look at lessons learned from the life of Job. God is better than we could ever imagine. He is not the author of suffering, He is the HEALER of our sufferings. Therefore, one of the keys to great Faith is to weed fear-based theologies out of our belief system. There's a moment in Matthew's Gospel where Jesus' disciples ask Him how to be successful and important. He set a child in front of Him and said "You must be like a child." Apparently, Heaven's definition of success is quite different than the world's. Jesus also added a sharp warning to leaders not to hinder childlike faith. What does it mean to be in "ministry?" Is it to be a pastor? A missionary? A preacher (or God forbid, a Podcastor?!) All of these things involve ministry, but if our definition of ministry is confined to the walls of the church, we create a divide between "sacred work" and "secular work." The problem is, this line doesn't exist in scripture. Recently, a very well known worship leader attacked the Mirror Bible as "nothing but deception." This of course, sparked a large comment war on Facebook. Visions are one of THE primary ways God speaks to His people. People often think the prophetic is for special people with special gifts. But the Bible says that in Christ, the VEIL is taken away and we can behold His Face! A lot of folks get hung up on the fact that they've never experienced visions before. We don't have to be defined by our past experience! The Gospel is a continual invitation to experience MORE.  If God lives inside of us, then hearing from Him is easy and natural. It's so easy in fact, that most of us overlook the ways that he's already speaking to us all the time. Enjoy this sermon excerpt from the first session of my "School of Happy Evangelism!" Every single one of us carries an internal engine, or belief system. Whether good or bad, these beliefs drive us to do everything we do. In this talk, I share about the two dominant lenses concerning evangelism in the church today. The first is what I call "the Titanic Gospel," that everyone is doomed, and we gotta get 'em out of here as fast as possible! The second, is what I call "Garden Christianity." That the victory of Jesus on the Cross restored creation to it's original vision and purpose, and we get to share in that. During the second session of the School of Happy Evangelism, the Holy Spirit broke out in an unexpectedly intense way. I began to speak spontaneously on the nature of the Holy Spirit. He is described all throughout scripture as a River. This River is always moving, and always bringing Life into death. When we become consumers focused on survival, we hinder the flow of the Holy Spirit. Our encounters with God are meant to turn US into an encounter for the world around us.
