Most people assume now is the wrong time to buy their dream home. The reality? It's one of the best opportunities in years—if you know how to play the game. In this episode, I break down what's really happening in the UK housing market, why seven-figure homes are sitting unsold, and how you can use that to your advantage in the same way that I did. Using this simple three-step blueprint I will show you how to secure your dream house without needing to be the richest buyer in the room—just the most strategic. We cover how to negotiate below market value, how to control property without owning it through lease options, and how to secure deals today with delayed completion. If you're willing to think differently, act creatively, and play the long game, your dream home might be far more accessible than you think. When you can see it, you can believe it, you can achieve it. Time to Think Big. Success and Failure are both very predictable. I hope you enjoy. Most people wait for certainty. The best investors move first. If you want to master the market, negotiate strategically, and structure deals others overlook — join the Blueprint Summer Retreat, 19–22 May 2026. Three full days working on your strategy, your structure, and your long-term wealth plan. Learn more: https://theblueprintretreat.co.uk/ Want to learn more?

Your latest unlock from the annals of the Now We Know Patreon... To hell with The Money Pit! No, we Are Not Done Yet! Forget these modern iterations — it's Cary Grant and Myrna Loy who pioneered the disastrous home improvement form with Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House. Originally released in 1948, making this one of if not the oldest feature film we've covered, this light comedy about the perils of falling in love with the dream home in your head made for a refreshing palate cleanse.

On this episode of Alt. Down Under, Luke sits down with Nkechi Anele, the voice behind Owelu Dreamhouse - one of the most exciting projects coming out of Melbourne's soul scene right now.Having cut her teeth as the frontwoman of beloved Melbourne six-piece, Saskwatch, Nkechi has spent years building her sound and her community. With Owelu Dreamhouse, she steps into something far more personal - a project shaped by reconnecting with her Nigerian heritage and exploring what it means to exist between cultures. She dives into the story behind the band's name - inspired by her grandmother - and how that connection to family and identity runs through the music. From stepping away from music entirely to finding her way back with a renewed sense of self, this is a conversation about growth, belonging and creative honesty.Plus… a brief but important debate about foreheads!

hi hello hey, yes—we're still out here watching cartoons, and we're very excited to talk about it. This is our third installment in our cartoon-watching series (affectionately known as Buddy Watch). We keep joking that only three of you care, but based on the messages and suggestions we've received, we know there are some very dedicated cartoon lovers among you. If you're newer to Rare with Flair, cartoons are one of our many shared loves. We've been watching shows together almost daily since 2022, which puts our current total at around 14 series watched (and counting). In this episode, we break down the last five shows we watched—Fairly OddParents, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, Gravity Falls, Star vs. the Forces of Evil, and Barbie: Life in the Dreamhouse—and then run through our ever-growing (and slightly unhinged) watchlist. We're always taking recommendations—email us at hello@rarewithflair.com or slide into our DMs! We've fully committed to watching cartoons together until the day we die, so please send us your favorites that we should add to—or bump up on—our list. related episodes Check out the previous installments in our cartoon series: 105. case & cass' carTWOon adventures 69. cass & case's cartoon adventures Case, Cass, + Mr. A with their idols, SpongeBob + Patrick at Universal Orlando, 2025
Written by Carmen Maria Machado, the dark, inventive and sensual writer behind the collection Her Body and Other Parties, and the memoir In the Dream House, this story, “Persephone Rides at the End of Days," was commissioned for the Selected Shorts anthology Small Odysseys. It's about a Greek goddess coming to terms with who and what she is. Is her name, meaning "bringer of death," her fate? Or will she channel the other side of her mythological self? Our reader is Cynthia Nixon, best known for her role on Sex & the City as well as its sequel, And Just Like That. She has also appeared in so many other television series, including The Gilded Age, and is big on Broadway. Aprana Nancherla hosts this episode. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Karen (45) and Chad (44) built their lives around a high income: buying their dream home in a high-cost city and raising three kids with confidence in the future. But when Chad lost his $340K tech job, everything changed. Three years later, he's earning half as much, their emergency savings are gone, and they're borrowing just to stay afloat. Karen lies awake fearing they're one paycheck away from losing the house, while Chad stays optimistic that a future promotion or windfall will fix everything. Their conversations remain polite but distant, masking deep anxiety, resentment, and two completely different philosophies on money. Can Ramit help them confront reality, reconnect emotionally, and decide whether they can afford to keep the home they love? In this episode we uncover: • How Chad's income dropped by 50% overnight • The emotional toll of pretending “everything is fine” while secretly fearing they can't make the mortgage • Why even buying kids' necessities fills Karen with guilt • Why Chad defaults to thinking “maybe we're just poor for a while” • The dangerous gap between their public optimism and the reality Karen wrote in her application • How Karen and Chad communicate like polite coworkers instead of partners • The childhood roots that shaped their opposing money philosophies • Why living with zero savings and three children is far more dangerous than Chad realizes • The breakthrough: shifting from tracking numbers to actually making meaning from their spending and fears Chapters: (00:00:00) “We're one paycheck away from disaster” (00:17:12) “Here we go again” (00:26:21) Ramit breaks down their numbers (00:37:22) “I'm looking for solutions, not platitudes” (00:49:47) “Why aren't you more relaxed with less money?” (01:01:11) “Is the house on fire?” (01:19:32) Where are they now? It's all about memory this week. Remember that time literary superstar Carmen Maria Machado came on the show? No? Well here's your chance to catch up on what you missed. Carmen spoke to me about Her Body and Other Parties and In the Dream House – the former a collection of folktale and fable, spun to hideous effect; the latter a piercing fictionalised memoir of abuse and haunted relationships. This was a daunting interview – we went deep into life, love and all the horrors they can bring. But we came up smiling. It's a happy memory. Enjoy. Guest Carmen Maria Machado is a writer of queer horror, essays, and short stories. She is most well-known for her memoir, In the Dream House, which came out in 2019, and really took the queer lit world by storm. In it, she brings light to a concept often shied away from - domestic violence and abuse within queer relationships. While writing the memoir, Carmen did a lot of research into the history of domestic abuse within the lesbian community - the ways in which it is less visible, and the stories that made it into the archives despite all odds. She speaks candidly (and wittily) about all of this, including her own personal experience, coming out journey, and writing process. -Find more about Carmen and her work on her website -Follow Carmen on Instagram -Subscribe to her Substack, Cup of Stars Thank you for listening to Cruising Podcast! -Reviews help other listeners find Cruising! Jason (38) and Katie (36) thought buying their dream home in Minnesota would be the start of a new chapter. Instead, they're buried in debt, daycare bills, and the pressure of raising a new baby while working demanding creative jobs in an industry threatened by AI. Despite earning $246,000 a year, they've been trapped in a decade-long debt cycle, and every dollar is already spoken for. With $30,000 in debt left to go and no clear plan for what comes next, can they finally break free of survival mode and build the life they truly want together? In this episode we uncover: • How Jason and Katie's “dream home” quickly became a financial trap • Why their money talks happen every single day—and why that constant communication leaves them exhausted • The pattern of paying off debt, only to fall right back into it • The hidden costs of homeownership • Jason's obsession with “cashflow”—and why Ramit calls it a red flag that blinds them to the bigger picture • How Katie's childhood lessons of “we can't afford it” show up in her marriage today • Jason's upbringing of scarcity and mixed money messages • The constant fear of job loss in an industry disrupted by AI • Why their meticulous tracking of every penny isn't working • The moment Jason admits he's “done” with the cycle Chapters: (00:00:00) “We talk about every transaction” (00:22:05) Ramit breaks down their numbers (00:36:18) When “cashflow” becomes a red flag (00:39:39) When “asking for permission” follows you into marriage (00:45:58) “We couldn't afford the pool, but a new TV showed up” (00:56:23) “I'm repeating a cycle” (01:21:02) “You have more money than you realize” (01:26:33) Where are they now? Welcome to Home Improvement – Week 1: The Blueprint to Your Dream House. In this powerful sermon, we explore how to build a God-honoring home rooted in wisdom, reverence, and obedience to God's Word.
Ryan's got a Friday solo show today with this 684th edition of Have You Ever Seen. Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House is a zany rom-com with Cary Grant and Myrna Loy playing a likable husband & wife who move themselves & their daughters from NYC out to the country. And their house turns out to be a disaster. This film has been acclaimed over the decades, even though it's more congenial than it is funny…and an ineffective love triangle subplot involving the snarky Melvyn Douglas is completely unnecessary. But it's undeniable that H.C. Potter directed a successful (supposed) laugh-fest in Mr. Blandings, where you can't measure what you love by what it costs. Well, Actually: there already was a "Diane Hall" in the guild, so Diane Keaton took her mother's maiden name when she got to Hollywood.
