Streamglobe Devotional is an interdenominational and nondenominational ministry to the body of Christ and to the world in general. Our desire is to keep you in God’s presence as you spend time reading or listening to our Devotional.
Romans 8:16 (NET): “The Spirit himself bears witness to our spirit that we are God's children.” Benise was a believer who lived a very disciplined life but was also a very miserable believer because she lived in the fear of going to hell and had no assurance of salvation. Because of this fear, other fears found expression in her life, and she was now a slave to fear. She got delivered from the dominion of fear after she heard and meditated on the words of an anointed song that went thus: “I'm no longer a slave to fear, I am a child of God…” After listening to the song over and over again, she realized that all the fear in her heart was devilish. She sought to be delivered permanently and realized that the answer was in being filled with the Spirit. The infilling of the Spirit takes away fears (see Romans 8:15, 2 Timothy 1:7). One of the surest signs that a believer is filled with the Spirit is that they will have the assurance of salvation. This assurance takes away the fear of death (both spiritual and physical). It gives us boldness and boosts our faith in receiving from God because we know that He is our heavenly Father who loves us even more than an earthly father loves and cares for his children. Go into today thanking the Lord for the Holy Spirit that brings assurance of salvation and gives you boldness to walk in your liberty as a child of God. Prayer: Ask the Lord to deliver you from anything seeking to hinder your devotion to spiritual disciplines that make for a Spirit-filled life. —Abraham Damilola Arigi If you wish to start receiving Streamglobe Devotional early every day, join our WhatsApp channel through this link: https://chat.whatsapp.com/LFbRirvMpPC1KmzfDpr0bO Bible In 1 Year: Proverbs 5-6 (in today's audio) Streamglobe is interdenominational. At that point, I knew I had to explain to him the benefits of knowing God from his youth because that is when he still has the strength to serve the Lord–service for which he would be eternally rewarded. Today's Bible verse reveals that we who believe will be heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ Jesus if indeed we suffer with Him so we may be glorified with Him. There is a dimension of glory that is stored up for all of God's children, but only those servants who put their talents to kingdom advancement use and serve the Lord will attain that height of eternal glory. Salvation [from eternal damnation] is a gift and not a reward. But authority and ranking in the kingdom is a reward for faithfulness to the Lord and obedience to His call (see Luke 19:17, Matthew 16:27, Revelation 22:12). Eternity is forever and ever, and we should care about our destiny there. Many people will be in the highest levels of God's eternal glory for all eternity because they responded faithfully to the call of God and lived for Him–not shying away from the suffering it may incur on this side of eternity. But many others will not respond to the call. They will choose to live for themselves even though they have believed in the Lord Jesus. Even though many of such people will be saved through their faith in Christ, they will be saved as though through fire and would suffer loss (they would lose their reward–their ordained place of authority and glory in God's eternal kingdom). Read 1 Corinthians 3:13-15. Go into today remembering that glory and honor are stored up for those who live for Christ–sacrificing all and even suffering for him because of their resolve to fulfill His purpose for sending them into time. Prayer: Holy Father, please help me live for you and fulfill your purpose for my life. In Jesus' name. Broadcast 4098 Listen to today's audio: streamglobe.org/aud4098 Watch today's Vidoe: streamglobe.org/vid4098 Psalm 68:11 (KJV) The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it. In the Nigerian city where I grew up, there are burial grounds of European missionaries which are now historical sites. These missionaries died and were buried in the land because they came to preach the gospel. Some of these missionaries attended the best universities, but they saw a higher calling and were willing to give their lives for it. Today, many in Africa are believers because of their sacrifice. Many lives have been physically and eternally saved because of their sacrifice. I can still remember how it was a missionary called Mary Slessor whom the Lord used to end the infanticide ritual killing of twins in the southernmost part of Nigeria. When I look at my generation, I have a great concern in my heart because the emphasis and pursuits of many believers are for vain things. Believers who love their lives too much (and love the world) cannot effectively pass the light of the gospel to the next generation (see John 12:25, Revelation 12:11, 1 John 2:15). When the gospel was first preached [in Jerusalem], it was by a handful of people who were willing to give it all (both those on the frontline of apostolic missions and those who gave their resources to send them). Today, over two billion people on earth are called Christians, and many millions have come to know the Lord personally. But this didn't happen without a great company of people intentionally committed to spreading God's word. Even in the 19th century when there was a great missionary movement and many parts of Africa were evangelized, there were still some believers who loved the world too much and didn't want to inconvenience themselves for the gospel. But there were those who considered the Kingdom as the most important thing in their lives. All the believers in that generation are now physically dead, but some of them have crowns and eternal rewards stored up for them (2 Timothy 4:8), while some others would be ashamed before the Lord (1 John 2:28). Even though the people from that generation are no longer in this world, they are still very much alive and conscious. Some are in joy, while others are in eternal sorrow and damnation. Go into today determined to be among the company of those who publish the word of the Lord in your generation. A life that counts is one committed to spreading The Kingdom. Prayer: Lord, help me live a life that counts in Your eternal scheme of things. Help me fulfill my part in what You are doing in my generation. After Oyemade told his brethren about the threats from the people who wanted him to join their secret cults, they prayed together and agreed that he was to continue with the political race. He was thinking of leaving the race before because he understood that we believers would still reign over this earth when the Lord returns, but when it became clearer that his major opponent was an antichrist liberal whose agenda was to implement certain antichrist liberal policies, he was emboldened to continue in the race. Two months to the election, he was having a prayer walk in his compound at night when someone appeared to him through the back fence wall. Oyemade noticed that the man that appeared to him was surprised that he wasn't afraid but rather spoke in tongues and commanded him to get out of his compound. Apparently, the man came to scare him out of the race, but Oyemade didn't give the man the benefit of even speaking before he exercised authority over him—he vanished in terror. In spite of the opposition from the kingdom of darkness, Oyemade won the election and was able to stifle the tide of antichrist liberal policies in his city. The reason Oyemade could win that election against the will of the prince of this world (and his principalities) was because he too was a functional prince in God's eternal kingdom and he used the superior authority of the Kingdom to conquer on the earth. Every true believer is a prince in God's kingdom, but many are not functioning in their capacity because of spiritual ignorance and laziness. Many believers who get to the high places in this world and become overpowered fail because they do not surround themselves with the right people and the right systems. A believer representing Christ in the high places of this world (media and entertainment, big business, government, politics, etc.) must be as committed to prayer and the Word as an apostle at the forefront of missionary work in hostile places. Daniel is a good example. He was so committed to prayer (see Daniel 6:10) that even his enemies took notice. David is another good example of a man that succeeded in fulfilling God's purposes in the high places of this world. He too was a man committed to prayer and the Word. He prayed in the evening, morning, and afternoon every day (Psalm 55:17). He prayed and meditated on God's Word at night (Psalm 119:148). He had men of God around him who were not dazzled by his earthly greatness. Nathan could bring a message of stern rebuke from the Lord to King David and he would repent (see 2 Samuel 12:1-14). Those who would be witnesses for Christ in the high places of this world must realize that they are there for God's kingdom agenda, not for themselves. They must rid themselves of the love of money and always remember that they have the backing of God's eternal government that rules over everything. Prayer: Lord, give me the strength to stand for you in the high places of this world. Oyemade was quite sure that he had his political game plan perfectly worked out. It was going to be easy for him to get elected as mayor of the city, even though he was a minority. As the election day was getting closer, and it was becoming clearer and clearer that Oyemade's party was going to win the election, Oyemade started getting strange invitations from people he never knew existed. Because the mayoral seat in his city was very important (his city was so strategic and important), everyone was interested in who sat on that seat. Oyemade started getting veiled threats. He started getting invitations to join “powerful” secret societies. One of his closest allies told him that “boss if you don't join them, they won't let you win this election”. The aspiration for such a great political office made it clearer to Oyemade and his brethren that indeed, the systems of this current world are ruled by Satan the prince of this world (see John 14:30, 1 John 5:19, Ephesians 6:12, 2 Corinthians 4:4). In this current world order, if you go high enough in most systems, you would interface with the devil. He is the ruler of this present world. The only people that can truly contend his authority on this earth are the sons of God: believers in Christ Jesus who are no longer [spiritual] babes but sons. They can contend territorial authority out of the hand of the prince of this world because their Lord has received ‘all authority in heaven and on earth' (see Matthew 28:18). This current world system is under the subjection of angels. The prince of this world (Satan) is an angel (a fallen angel), and so are his principalities that rule territories in this present world. But from today's verse, we see that this will not be the case in the world to come. One very important component of the gospel message we preach is the second coming of Jesus, the resurrection of the dead, and the coming rule and reign of Christ (with the saints) over the earth, and over all things (see 1 Corinthians 15, 6:1-3, Philippians 3:20, Revelations 21:7). This current world system is in its last days (see Hebrews 1:1-2, Acts 2:17). The devil knows that his time is short and that all authority has now been given to Jesus who will return and take over the governments of this earth, so he is more desperate than ever. The kingdom of this world will literally become the kingdom of our God and of His Christ, and we [His saints] shall reign on the earth (Revelation 5:10, 11:15, 20:4). Go into today remembering that the world [order] to come will not be under the subjection of angels but under the subjection of man, ruled by the man Jesus Christ. With this sure expectation in your heart, walk in this present world with the authority of Christ and remember to lay for yourself treasure that will have value in the worlds to come (Matthew 6:19-21). Prayer: Lord, help me walk in the fullness of your plan for my life. Deliver me from the distractions of this present world that is passing away and help me fulfill your plan for my life. Suzanne had a hard time discerning false prophets from true ones. She observed that some of the false prophets had become very smart by embracing ‘holiness' doctrines. But she had a personal encounter with one of such holiness preachers and realized he was as greedy and filthy as the rest. She also realized that most of the false prophets were not interested in winning souls for the Lord, they were only interested in the money. We can see from today's Bible verses that salvation was first preached by the Lord Jesus Himself, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him (His disciples who echoed His gospel). In Matthew 9:35 and Luke 8:1, we see that the Lord Jesus went to different towns and villages teaching and preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom. We also see that His disciples did the same. Many wonder what gospel message Jesus and the Apostles preached since Jesus was not yet crucified? Well, Jesus preached the message of salvation. What makes a person receive eternal salvation is believing that Jesus is Lord (the Christ of God, the Messiah). Even before Jesus died on the cross, people were being saved through believing in Him. We see in Luke 19:9 that Jesus said salvation had come to the house of Zacchaeus [because he believed in Him]. Before and after His death and resurrection, believing that Jesus is Lord was the key to salvation. The resurrection was God's token proof that Jesus is Lord. The Jews crucified Him because He said He was the Christ (the Son of God, the King of the Jews). But God raised Him up on the third day as proof that He is indeed the Christ (Lord, Anointed One, the Messiah). The gospel we preach today now includes this vital truth—that God raised Jesus from the dead (see Romans 10:9). In John 4, we are given a rare peek into the content of the gospel message that Jesus preached while He walked the streets of Israel. We see Jesus preaching to the Samaritan woman, and their conversation headed up to Him revealing to her that He is the Messiah (see John 4:25-26). The woman believed in Him and even invited others to come and see the Christ (see John 4:29). Whether then, or when the Apostles preached, or today, the gospel message has been about bringing people to receive the Lordship of Christ Jesus. People who receive the gospel live under the Lordship of Christ. That's why they repent of their old ways that do not align with life under Christ's government. Go into today remembering that God confirms His gospel with signs and wonders, miracles and gifts of the Spirit. The next time you want to discern whether a prophet is false or not, look at the fruits of his ministry (Matthew 7:16). Is he raising people whose allegiance is to Christ (this shows by their lives of submission to the Lordship of Christ) or is he raising people whose true allegiance is to him and to mammon? Prayer: Heavenly Father, please help me be a true minister of Your salvation. Stretch out Your hand to confirm Your word in my life with signs and wonders, miracles, and gifts of the Spirit. He thought he had power until one prayerful widow moved next door to him within the same apartment. This woman had more power than Dean had ever seen. She was a real prayer warrior. Many times she prayed in the night, and Dean saw strange things like powerful angels whose presence terrified the demons that normally empowered him. Because she was his next-door neighbor and her presence and prayers kept terrifying and subduing him, he eventually surrendered to Christ because of her influence. This woman could lead Dean to the Lord and effectively disciple him because she was not ignorant concerning the things of the spirit and the supernatural dimension of the faith. The first night she slept in that apartment, she discerned who Dean was in the spirit, and from then on she intentionally demobilized him spiritually. That was what ultimately led him to salvation. She would have never been able to lead a man like Dean to the Lord if she was not exposed to the supernatural and prophetic dimension of her walk with the Lord. Revelations, spiritual gifts, angelic encounters, etc., were not strange to her. It trains us to reject godless ways and worldly desires and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, as we wait for the happy fulfillment of our hope in the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. After Byrum believed in the Lord Jesus, he was baptized in the Holy Ghost, and as a result, was empowered by the Spirit to overcome his addictions and live a godly life. This happened because he submitted to the instructions of righteousness given to him by his pastor. He had to change his apartment because his neighbor was his drug dealer, he had to leave his old friends and totally disconnect from his old way of living. He was filled with the Spirit and was taught to stay filled. In this way, his body was empowered by the indwelling Holy Spirit (Romans 8:11) and he could cope with the withdrawal from the drugs. He spent a lot of time praying and singing in the Spirit because he needed to stay filled with the Spirit. The infilling of the Holy Spirit affects even our mortal bodies. One of the things the grace of God would teach us is that “bad company corrupts good character” (1 Corinthians 15:33). Those who are taught by grace become very particular about the company they keep. They guard their hearts with all diligence by guarding the information they feed into it. We saw yesterday that the grace of God trains us or teaches us how to reject ungodly ways and fleshly lusts. There are very practical things we must be willing to do in keeping with the teaching of grace. We must be willing to forsake our worldly ways and deny the flesh. Go into today remembering that as a student of grace, you have to be willing to obey the demands of God's kingdom for your life. This is the only way to allow the divine life to excel over the old life. Prayer: Heavenly Father, please lead me to your green pastures and help me be fed and led by your living word. Romans 8:11 (NET): “Moreover if the Spirit of the one who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, the one who raised Christ from the dead will also make your mortal bodies alive through his Spirit who lives in you.” Martha had lived her life in fear of the dark spiritual forces in her village. When she became born a believer in Christ Jesus, one of the first things she learned was that Jesus Christ rose from the dead, and there was no power in hell that could stop Him from resurrecting. When she understood that the very same Holy Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead now lived within her, she was no longer afraid of the dark spiritual forces in her village. She knew she now had power over them. As time passed, she became a real terror to them. Her faith now produced such spiritual power that none of them could resist; she who used to be terrorized became the one now terrorizing them. All the while she was afraid of the dark spiritual forces and was even terrorized by them after believing, she had the Holy Spirit living within her, but she didn't have the faith required to reveal His mighty power. Every attribute of the divine nature that you have received in your spirit will have to be revealed through faith. Even your righteousness is revealed by faith (see Rom 1:17). This means you have to first believe that you are now righteous, and then this faith produces the physical manifestation of your righteousness. In the same way, you have to first believe that you have been healed, and this faith will produce the physical manifestation of your healing, etc. Go into today remembering to believe and confess everything you have in Christ Jesus (see 2 Cor 4:13). Romans 8:30-31 (KJV): “Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” A rich, generous king prepared a big banquet and was kind enough to invite all the nobles and honorable people in his kingdom. But unfortunately, they all despised his invitation and made it clear that they were not coming. Because of this, he extended his invitation to everyone else—the commoners were now invited. Everyone else was now to be part of the party (see Matthew 22:1-14). Salvation was initially for the Jews (see John 4:22). They were the noble people of the earth because they were the nation separated unto God from their inception. But the door was opened to the Gentiles because the Jews rejected the call of God (see Romans 11:12). This was demonstrated in the fact that they were the ones who gave the Lord over to be crucified. But God was aware of all this. It played into His eternal plan to save not only the Jews but the whole world. Today, many are called, and we can see from today's Scripture that it is those who have been predestined that are called. But we also see in Matthew 22:14 that out of the many called, few are chosen. Our response to the call is what will determine whether we are chosen. Because man has free will, the fact that he was predestined and called does not automatically mean that he will be chosen. We have to respond to the call. For those of us who have responded to the call of God to become conformed to the image of His dear Son, we need to continue in our conviction to the end (Hebrews 10:23). Let's not allow distractions, pressures, and cares of this life to hinder us from being fruitful. Let us endure to the end so that we would receive our crown and not be ashamed when our Lord appears. Go into today remembering that God's got you. Your salvation was planned from the foundation of the world. Your life is not a coincidence and all things are working together for your good because you love God and are called according to His purpose. Romans 8:29 (NET): “because those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.” The doctrine of predestination is probably one of the most misunderstood. Some people think it means there are individuals who cannot be saved because they were not predestined to be so. But that is not true. God wants all people to be saved (1 Timothy 2:4, 2 Peter 3:9). Jesus did not die for the sins of only the predestined, but for the sins of the whole world. Others say predestination means nothing, believing we are all products of our choices and are ultimately the masters of our destinies. This is also not entirely true. Our limited minds may not be able to fully comprehend the dynamics of predestination right now, just like the concept of eternal life may be difficult to wrap our minds around. God's realm of eternity is quite different from time. When things happen in time, it is because they have already happened in eternity, but if they fail to happen in time, they cease to exist in eternity. That's why people's names can be erased from the Book of Life (see Revelation 3:5, 22:19, Exodus 32:32-33), even though names were written there from the foundation of the world (see Revelation 13:8). So important is this realm of time that God invested Himself in His fullness into it. In Christ Jesus (the resurrected Christ) dwells the fullness of the Godhead bodily (see Colossians 2:9). Things that exist in everlasting dimensions in eternity can be scaled into time. The three distinct persons of the Godhead came together and said, “Let us make man in our image.” One man in the image of three persons. That should give a picture of the relationship between eternity and time. Yet the things on the earth are only sketches and patterns of the things in the spirit realm (see Hebrews 9:23). Here lies the shadow, there the reality. This should make us sober because decisions that may look trivial here in time have eternal ramifications of unimaginable magnitude. When Adam sinned by “simply” eating the forbidden fruit, he probably did not know how much damage this caused in the realms. It took God becoming a man to remedy the damage. The things in the heavens were also defiled and needed to be cleansed because of sin committed on the earth (see Hebrews 9:23). If a person believes in Christ, it may look like a momentary decision, but it has eternal ramifications. This space is not even sufficient for us to establish a brief foundation for the doctrine of predestination. But if there's anything you should take from today's study concerning predestination, it is that God does not do anything He never planned to do. He is never taken unawares by happenings. He is in control of everything. You can rest in this knowledge. Go into today with this prayer: Lord God, thank you for the awesome privilege of being created in your image. Please help me walk worthy of my calling and please you in all things. streamglobe.org/aud4072Colossians 1:5 (NET): “Your faith and love have arisen from the hope laid up for you in heaven, which you have heard about in the message of truth, the gospel.” When the gospel was first preached to the people in Colossae, they were told about the hope of their calling. They understood that they were now part of an eternal kingdom that will soon be made visible to every eye. They understood that they were going to be resurrected with the kind of body that Christ possesses right now (Philippians 3:21)—a body that makes it possible for Him to partake in the realms of heaven and earth (spiritual and physical realms), for Jesus ascended bodily into heaven. This body could never be destroyed and would reveal our true unlimited nature as sons of God (see Romans 8:23 in the AMP version). In this body, we would have the power to easily and naturally speak to literal mountains and command them to move into the ocean. We would not need to study books to have the deepest knowledge of things, for we would know all things, including the secrets of the universe. When Jesus physically returns to this world with His saints (Jude 1:14), we would literally take over the governments of this world, rule over the world, and judge both people and angels (see 1 Corinthians 6:2-3). We would be irresistible because we would come with glorified indestructible bodies with unlimited power. This is a brief summary of the hope laid up for you as a believer. Anyone who has this hope purifies himself (read 1 John 3:2-3). Many believers do not understand the hope that they have been called into, and their faith wanes because they limit their hope to earthly expectations. Colossians 3:23-24 (KJV): “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.”After working with a government establishment for twenty years, Grace continued to struggle financially. She was very committed to prayers, evangelism, and other church activities but was lackadaisical with her job, and this was the general attitude of her coworkers too. They would often say, “It's government work, I cannot kill myself for it.” Grace had received all her due promotions when they were due, but things were very tight for her financially. Her frustration led her to seek counsel from her pastor who, by the word of knowledge, told her that her attitude toward her job had been a hindrance to her financial freedom. Grace turned over a new leaf and began to do her work as to the Lord, putting her best effort into her job. After she changed her attitude, her financial struggles ended. She received wisdom to better manage her resources, and new financial doors opened for her. Ecclesiastes 9:10 (KJV) says, “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might…” and in Philippians 2:14-15 (KJV), we are to, “Do all things without murmurings and disputings: that ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world.” If you are a child of God, you must do all your work as to the Lord. This is how you will be distinguished from the perverse and crooked coworkers among whom you are to shine as light. Your workplace is a platform for evangelism. Go into today knowing that God is the one who rewards you when your work is done as unto Him. Prayer Confession: I will do my work as to the Lord and shine as God's light in my workplace in Jesus' name. Colossians 1:9-10 (NET): “For this reason we also, from the day we heard about you, have not ceased praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you may live worthily of the Lord and please him in all respects – bearing fruit in every good deed, growing in the knowledge of God.” Mitch observed that whenever his roommate slept in the room, he did not have the terrible nightmares and demonic attacks that had now become part of his adult life. Even though he was now a believer, he knew that his roommate walked in greater spiritual authority. He found out that this was because his roommate had a more robust relationship with the Lord. The last part of today's Bible text makes it clear that it is possible for a believer to grow in the knowledge of God. This growth is the secret of manifesting great spiritual power. This is the secret of multiplied grace that makes us manifest the divine life in this present world (2 Peter 1:2-3). We also see that it is possible for us to be fruitful in every good work. God wants you to be fruitful in every good area of your life. Living worthily of the Lord is the most important fruitfulness, as it enables you to have a robust relationship with God and grow in His grace and mighty power. Remember that the fruit of the Spirit affects the way you live. Being fruitful in every area is only possible when you are filled with the knowledge of God's will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding. Go into today remembering that the knowledge of God's will is received when you pay attention to His word. Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you apply your heart to His word. —Abraham Damilola Arigi If you wish To start receiving Streamglobe Devotional early every day, join our Telegram channel through this link: https://t.me/streamglobe Bible In 1 Year: Galatians 1-3(in today's audio) Streamglobe is interdenominational. Romans 8:9 (NET) You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, this person does not belong to him. After Zoe believed in the Lord and was baptized in the Holy Spirit, she was empowered to learn of Christ and receive His Spirit(become like Christ in character and nature). But because she was distracted by the cares of this life and the deceitfulness of riches, she did not remain in the Lord but went back to the world. Two years passed and certain bad things happened to her that brought her back to the Lord in tears and repentance. At this point, she knew that even though the gifts of the spirit she received the day she was baptized still remained, she was not safe because she didn't have the Spirit[and character] of Christ. The Holy Spirit we have received [as a gift] empowers us to walk in the Spirit and nature of Christ. It is possible to refuse to yield to the Holy Spirit and go back to the world. The gifts of the Spirit may remain and manifest if we know how to work them, but they are no guarantee that we belong to Christ. On the last day, many will appear before the Lord and think that because they have received the power of the Holy Spirit and gifts, they would be qualified to enter the kingdom, but many who did not cooperate with the Holy Spirit to birth the spirit and nature of Christ in them would be sorely disappointed. Here's what the Lord says will happen: Matthew 7:22-23(KJV) Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Go into today remembering that what God looks out for is our fruits. Romans 8:9 (NET) You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, this person does not belong to him. Tony accepted the Lord Jesus in a neighborhood house fellowship. Because the leader of the fellowship sensed that Tony needed to be ministered to for deliverance, he told Tony to wait behind and be ministered to. That day, Tony was delivered of demonic possession and was also baptized in the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues. His heart was so filled with joy that it was evident to his friends and neighbors that “something has changed about Tony”. Tony had received the baptism of the Holy Spirit but he needed to learn of Christ and become like Christ. This is what is called discipleship. The indwelling Holy Spirit within him changed his appetites and gave him a desire for the word and presence of God. Even though Tony received the baptism of the Holy Ghost, if he does not continue to abide in Christ and bring forth fruit, he would be as a branch cast out and trampled underfoot of men(John 15:6, Matthew 5:13). After believing in the Lord Jesus and receiving the Holy Spirit, it is important we grow and walk in the spirit(Character) of Christ because it is only those who have the spirit of Christ that belong to Him. Go into today remembering that it is not just those that say “Lord, Lord”, but those that do the will of God are those who will enter the kingdom of heaven(see Matthew 7:21). If Jesus is truly your Lord, then you will do His will. Prayer: Father, help me abide in Christ and be fruitful. Help me live a life that is ruled by Your will, In Jesus' name. Amen.—Abraham Damilola Arigi
Acts 2:38-39 (NET) Peter said to them, “Repent, and each one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” After Olamide accepted that all her sins had been forgiven and the deep-rooted guilt in her heart was washed away, she received the gift of the Holy Spirit and started to speak in tongues as the Spirit gave her utterance. She had believed in the Lord for several years but just could not receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. This was because of some level of guilt she still retained in her conscience. This was dealt with through the miracle of water baptism. You will see that in today's Bible verse, Apostle Peter tells the people to repent and be baptized for the forgiveness of their sins, and then they would receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Many have been able to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit even before they were baptized in water because they believed that their sins had been forgiven and they got rid of all deep-rooted guilt in their consciences after they believed. This was usually easier for the Gentiles because they did not have an elaborate consciousness of sin like the Jews who had the law. But many others have found that their consciences received the required freedom needed for them to be filled with the Holy Spirit after they were baptized in water. Indeed, the baptism of the Holy Spirit has come to some immediately after their baptism in water. That was the case with our Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 3:16). In 1 Peter, we see that water baptism is a pledge [or answer] of a good conscience to God. There is clearly a connection between it and the conscience. 1 Peter says: “And baptism, which is a figure [of their deliverance], does now also save you [from inward questionings and fears], not by the removing of outward body filth [bathing], but by [providing you with] the answer of a good and clear conscience (inward cleanness and peace) before God [because you are demonstrating what you believe to be yours] through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 3:21 AMPC. Go into today remembering that you cannot walk in the fullness of the Spirit [and your spiritual gifts] if your conscience is still weighed down by any level of guilt. Deal with the guilt in your conscience through the water (the word of God) and the blood (remembering and depending on the sacrifice of Christ), and you will receive an outpouring of the Holy Spirit in a new measure. Prayer: Lord, deliver me from all guilt so I may walk in the fullness of the Spirit. Amen. —Abraham Damilola Arigi To start receiving Streamglobe devotionals directly to your WhatsApp and other platforms every day, join one of our groups here: www.streamglobe.org/join Bible In 1 Year: II Corinthians 9-10 (in today's audio) Streamglobe is interdenominational. 1 Corinthians 11:2 (NET) I praise you because you remember me in everything and maintain the traditions just as I passed them on to you. Akogun became so sick that it was looking like he would die. This illness started after he came back from his journey to the village for the holidays. As the intercessors in the church prayed for him, someone saw a vision that revealed that the reason he was afflicted was that he exposed himself to certain elemental spirits when he innocently partook in some cultural practices for a festival in his village during the Christmas holidays. Many believers have found themselves in big trouble because they exposed themselves to some pagan traditions of their culture of birth after becoming believers. When you became a believer in Christ Jesus, you were reconciled with God through faith in Christ Jesus. Because of this, you became a friend of God. But this also meant you became an enemy of the world—the prince of this world (the devil) and his company. Traditions that were born out of pagan worship were designed to connect people with demons and keep them under the domain of principalities. If through a cultural practice, a believer (who is now an enemy of the devil and his kingdom) brings himself under their authority, he would be greatly attacked. Some believers have even fallen asleep before their time because of this. Before the coming of the gospel, every ethnic group on earth had a culture, and these cultures were shaped by their religion and gods. The only group of people who were relatively free from cultures and traditions inspired by demons was the people of Israel because they worshiped the one true God. Being an apostle to the Gentiles, there were many things Apostle Paul had to teach and explain to the Gentile believers because they grew up in cultures that were antithetical to the divine life. In discipling people, it is expedient that you are diligent to identify unwholesome cultural practices and traditions that the enemy may seek to use to trap them. When you take away a bad tradition, it should be replaced with a good one. Go into today remembering that because you are of a kingdom that is higher and better than any other, you are not to submit yourself to any cultural practice that does not glorify God and uphold His righteousness. Prayer: Ask the Lord Jesus to deliver you from falling into the trap of practicing demonically inspired traditions. Reflection: Reflect on any cultural practices or traditions you observe. Ask yourself if they align with the righteousness and teachings of Christ. If they do not, seek wisdom and strength from the Lord to replace them with traditions that honor Him and uphold His truth. —Abraham Damilola Arigi
John 15:5(NKJV) “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. Three years after Bill had accepted Christ as Lord and Savior, he still was not baptized in the Holy Spirit. Unfortunately, this did not bother him because the only difference he believed it made was that it caused people to speak in tongues; something he didn't particularly look forward to. But Bill couldn't be more wrong. He was lacking the fullness of His new life because he was never filled with the Holy Spirit. Bill often wondered what people who prayed for up to an hour were saying for so long. He would get bored and even sleep off if he tried to pray for more than ten minutes. Bill never enjoyed fellowship with the Lord because he was not yet filled with the Holy Spirit. This was the primary reason why Bill experienced so many demonic attacks. The reason why many Christians do not enjoy the full benefits of their salvation is because they are not dwelling in Christ. The thing about dwelling in Christ is that He will also dwell in you, and He dwells in you through His Holy Spirit. He lives in you so that you may live in Him. Anyone who is baptized in the Holy Spirit and stays filled with the Holy Spirit will experience this. Go into today determining to be filled with the Holy Spirit at all times. If you are a Christian and you are not yet baptized in the Holy Spirit, it is time for you to make this your top priority. Prayer: thank you Lord because you are my baptizer. Heavenly Father, I ask for a fresh infilling of the Holy Spirit, in Jesus' name I pray. Dayo was sent to learn to be an auto mechanic. His master in the trade was not as educated as he was, but he was very skilled. Dayo applied all his heart to the trade and became excellent in a very short while. His father in the trade was glad to see how fast he was learning. But there came a time when Dayo became even more skilled than his master. He would know what to do when they are challenged with very difficult situations that even his father in trade couldn't solve. But Dayo was a wise young man. He continued to treat his master with even more respect, and he made it clear to everyone that he knew all he knew because his master chose to show all he knew. Dayo was a continual source of Joy to his master until it was time for him to leave to start up his own workshop. His master was quite sad because he was losing his most skilled and most trusted son in the trade. He blessed Dayo with all his heart and released him to go into the world to prosper in the trade. That was exactly what Dayo did. Today's Bible text looks most appropriate for the family setting, but it is equally applicable in instances such as the one mentioned above. One of the ways to know if you are wise is to check if you bring joy or sorrow to those who have helped you and contributed to making you who you are today. As you go into today, remember that God has called us to be wise and not foolish, to be meek and not conceited. Prayer: Ask the Lord to make you even more wise from today. Hebrews 1:14 (NIV) Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation? After fasting all day and being really tired, a man was driving between two towns in the northern part of Nigeria when he had a flat tire. He was in the middle of the wilderness with no human settlement in sight. Two young men approached him and offered to change his tire; he was so glad and gave them some money when they finished changing it. While he was driving away from them, he looked into his rear mirror to observe them as many thoughts flooded his mind about these very nice men in the middle of the wilderness. “Where did they come from and how come they speak such fluent English?” he thought as he looked in his rear mirror, but he couldn't find them anymore. They had literally disappeared. He also saw the money he gave them back in the place where he took it. This is a true story. Angels minister to those who will inherit salvation, whether they are born again at the time or not. How much more so when you are born again. The Bible tells us that the angel of the Lord encamps around them that fear Him (see Psa 34:7). These angels could also physically manifest themselves if the need arises. Go into today knowing that you are not alone in this world and you can never ever be forsaken in this life because God who controls angels and the entire universe is on your side. Prayer: thank you Lord for this day. Thank you for your great love for me. I pray you help me walk always in your will for me. Amen.—Abraham Damilola Arigi
