    Many times I hear girls and parents say “I played great during my practice round” or “I can shoot X score when I play at home”. Bottomline is those are not and never will be the same as tournament golf. The goal is to better prepare for the difference and how you are inherently going to feel and react during tournaments. Create confidence in your game by preparing for those feelings and planning for worst-case scenarios. Learn how to make your practice feel more like tournaments vs trying to make your tournament rounds feel more like practice.

    Tomas Adalsteinsson, or as he usually goes by, Coach Tomas, has led the Williams College women's golf program to back-to-back runner-up and a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Championship since taking over the program back in 2016. The team has become one of the most prominent golf programs in DIII women's golf. Utilizing his background in sports psychology, Coach Tomas implements his philosophy that "mindset" means "you get to set your mind to something" to lead the young ladies throughout their college golf careers. His hope is that not only do they become better golfers, but also better humans who can go out into the world more prepared for what lies ahead.

Prior to that, she started the Carson Newman women's golf program.     Just as you have been competing against some of the same girls since you first started playing golf, Coach Kory Henkes and I were in those exact same shoes 30 years ago. From day 1 of playing SC junior golf tournaments, we competed against each other and that continued once we both went to college as well, she at South Carolina and me at Furman. Coach Henkes took a little different direction after college golf and got away from the game, but she found herself back in it when she caddied on the LPGA Tour and eventually landed a job as a college coach and well the rest is history (and discussed in this episode). As the head coach there at Ole Miss, she has taken the program to record standings in the rankings and secured the program's first SEC Championship title.
