In this episode I was joined by Swedish LET title winner Lisa Pettersson as we found out about her preparation just before last week's first LET event in Rabat, Morocco. A lot of things have changed for Lisa having recently got married to her long term partner and recalls the unfortunate story of her now husband getting involved in a slight skiing accident causing a fractured elbow that required surgery just a couple of days before the wedding, thankfully everything worked out!  Lisa is from Stockholm, Sweden currently residing in Solna just outside of Stockholm and won Most Outstanding Female Scholar Athlete at East Carolina University. Lisa turned Professional in 2018 and while admittedly struggling she managed to win Swedish Matchplay on Nordic Tour and would play on Symetra Tour now Epson Tour in 2019 and discusses States life. In 2020 I Civid year Lisa in Arizona would win on Cactus Tour Arizona & finished 2nd behind the legend Anna Nordqvist not long after. At Final Stage LET Q School in 2021 Lisa would finish 2nd to gain LET status for 2022 and would hold the clubhouse lead at Skaftö Open before narrowly missing out to Linn Grant. 2023 would be much better with a T6th at Aramco Team Series - Hong Kong before winning her home open in Helsingborg in June defeating Ana Pelaez Trivino by a shot to win her maiden title. At Dromoland in Ireland Lisa would get into a playoff at Irish Women's Open with Smilla Tarning Soenderby & Anne Van Dam before losing out to eventual winner Smilla Tarning Søenderby who had produce a worldie of a round to win.  A nice episode was had with Lisa and I hope you enjoy!   As always I ask if you could download, listen, rate and review via Podbean, Apple Podcasts & Spotify. Thanks for the continued support!

About Leona Maguire Leona entered the professional game in 2018 off the back of a record-breaking collegiate career with Duke University. The proud Irishwoman has been a serial winner ever since she took up the sport in Co. Cavan but it was her decision to move to America, inspired by her life-long ambition to play on the LPGA Tour, that catapulted Leona into the big leagues. As an amateur, she was nothing short of sensational. A three-time Curtis Cup player with GB&I, Leona is a two-time Olympian representing Ireland in the 2016 Rio Olympics and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. In 2017 she captured the Ladies British Amateur Championship title, becoming serial winner on the collegiate circuit. Maguire sat atop of the world amateur golf ranking for an incredible 135 weeks during her amateur career. Unsurprisingly, it didn't take this born winner long to claim her maiden ‘W' on the professional scene with Leona getting over the line, not once, but twice in her first full season at the Symetra Tour's 2019 Windsor Golf Classic and the Symetra Classic. That blistering form meant she comfortably qualified for LPGA Tour promotion for 2020. Leona became the first Irish woman to represent the winning Team Europe in the 2021 Solheim Cup. Leona was a crucial player becoming the greatest Solheim Cup rookie when she went unbeaten. In February 2022 Leona followed this feat up by winning her debut title on the LPGA at the Drive On Championship and in doing so became the first Irish Women to win on the LPGA in history. Not stopping there, Leona recorded her second LPGA victory in June 2023 winning the Meijer LPGA Classic shooting a final day 64 to win by two strokes. In September 2023 Leona continued her memorable season as she proved to be a crucial part of Team Europe as they successfully retained the Solheim Cup in Spain with Leona delivering 3 points to the European side. About Mark McDonnell Mark has worked in the sports industry for over 20 years initially starting out working in the football world before moving across into the golf industry when he was 24 years old.  Mark has since worked for two of the leading brands in golf, Srixon and TaylorMade adidas Golf. The latter in which he was employed as one of the youngest account managers in their history, winning account manager of the year in only his second year with the brand.  Mark has a vast amount of experience in working with high profile clients, lifestyle management and works with many large corporate companies on a daily basis heading up both the Modest Golf and Modest Sport's Marketing business.  Mark also founded the Horan and Rose biannual charity event which to date has raised over £4 million for charities across the world and oversaw the ISPS World Invitational, the only event in the northern hemisphere to offer equal pay to both the male and female participants. This is the 16th episode with guests Leona Maguire, LPGA Professional golfer and Mark McDonnell, Co-founder of Modest! Golf Management, in the Davy podcast series 'Everyday Business with Aidan Donnelly'. This podcast brings you insightful conversation between Aidan Donnelly and entrepreneurs and business owners/management with their own unique story to tell. I'm sitting down with Hannah Gregg and Fredrik Lindblom, co-founders of Short Game Gains. Listen in as they talk about their suite of golf practice aid products, with a deep dive into their Signature Steel Putting Mirror.   Fred explains why he believes that any golfer worth their salt treats their game like a business, while Hannah shares how her educational background in journalism combined with her social media brand served her career in professional golf later on.   Hannah also gives an inside look into the high-pressure world of golf tournaments beginning with her experience at the Epson Tour Q-School. She and Fred share their strategies for dealing with the intense stress every aspiring pro golfer has to navigate consistently, highlighting the importance of routines, meditation, rest, having a coach, and being willing to overhaul your swing strategy.   About Hannah Gregg: Hannah is a co-founder of Short Game Gains. She turned pro in 2019 and went to Q-School. Hannah earned conditional status on the Symetra Tour and played several events on the Women's All Pro Tour as well. In 2019 Hannah started to notice the difficulty and expense of getting various practice aids and wanted to find a brand that allowed golfers to get all of the tools they needed in one place–like a Golf Toolbox. While we're at it, fix your ball marks and why is it that golfers don't fix ball marks? Breakthrough Golf Technology. The Stability Tour Fire putter shaft that I received has made a huge difference in my first two rounds with it. Shout out to the Tour Edge Golf Exotics Wingman 01 putter... That we both play. The PGA Championship. Justin Thomas wins with a huge assist from his caddie Jim "Bones" Mackay. Mito Pereira's decision was it the right play on 18? Mito made a lot of fans with his play and demeanour at Southern Hills. Rory, major underachiever? He stormed off without a post-round interview, what gives? The PGA Championship playoff and Will Zalatoris a major contender. By the way, Southern Hills was a fantastic venue and this was by far the best PGA Championship that I viewed. Single digit under par scoring. It felt like a major. Southern Hills' Superintendent was a star along with the venue itself. Is it the end of the Tiger era? Will he win another Major? Canadians in the U.S. Open. Grace Kim a rookie on the Epson Tour claims her first professional victory at the IOA Classic where it was "AussieMania". A heated debate. Doug says Symetra Tour and I say Epson Tour. It's Epson. Bank of Hope LPGA Match Play is this week on the LPGA Tour. We talk about eliminations and a second heated debate about "double knockout". Do you enjoy watching Match Play? We talk golf balls as Doug is in a frantic search for the right ball. We talk about the Wilson Staff DUO Professional and a little story about OnCore Golf. Success was all that Gabriella Then knew as a junior player.  She was a member of the winning Junior Solheim Cup team, she won numerous AJGA events, and she was recruited to USC when she was 14 years of age.  After a successful career at the University of Southern California, Gabby (as her friends know her), turned professional, playing for 2 seasons on the Epson Tour (formerly the Symetra Tour).  But when she recorded a bogey on her 72nd hole, at the LPGA's Stage-1, of Q-School, she missed advancing to the next stage.    Confronted with the emotional turmoil of having seen her dream evaporate, Gabby walked away from the sport in 2019.   She even took another job outside of golf -- such was her disappointment and desire to consider a life outside of professional golf.   Then came Covid, and she had no choice but to stay away from the sport as golf courses closed, and contemporary life came to a halt.  By 2021, Gabby was reassessing her life, her choices, and of course, golf.    It was then that she rediscovered her passion and love for the sport and with it, the resolve to commit to professional golf.  She "went all-in", nearly draining all of her savings to fund a year of tournament golf on the minor tours.    She lived life knowing that she had put everything on the line -- her emotional and mental efforts, her ambitions, and her money.  In this Episode, Gabby Then chats with us about her darkest days in professional golf and how she eventually found her way back to the sport and how life's lessons prepared her to better deal with adversity.  Her 2021 season culminated with her winning the Ladies European Tour's Q-School and an automatic "card" for the 2022 Season.

Fall golf is winding down in Canada but the sport rolls on around the world. The includes the PGA TOUR where Sungjae Im recently won at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open and did so with the help of a Canadian caddy. That looper, veteran Billy Spencer, joins us on TeeTalk this week for a wide-ranging discussion. We cover off how he got into caddying, firing players and making transitions to others, the joys and downsides of being a pro caddy, being part of The Olympics, and even some discussion about his beloved Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays. He's a popular guy on Tour and you'll find out why after giving this a listen. In the Week That Was we talk Symetra Tour, the latest exploits of Rickie Fowler, the CJ Cup (is it joining the line-up of world's worst golf trophies?), and a new golf tournament being backed by Geoff Ogilvy in Australia. The Mail Bag has us answering questions about giving golf tips to your father-in-law, PXG golf equipment, and the complications of being a spectator at the 150th Open Championship in St Andrews. If you hit a lot of thin golf shots with your irons with a lack of power, you may also want to catch the Tip of The Week.
