This week on the Your Golf Performance Podcast, I sit down with lifelong friend and highly respected golf coach Christian Rainey. Christian's journey in golf has taken him from Australia to the United States to compete in college golf, before returning home to work with some of Australia's best young players as a state coach with Golf Australia. Following college, he also spent time caddying at the iconic Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in New York, one of the most famous venues in world golf and host of this week's U.S. Open. In this episode we discuss:
After a few-week hiatus, Burko and Brentley return to recap both NCAA Championships at La Costa, where the Stanford women and Auburn men took home NCAA team titles. All the best stories of the week are discussed, including the Eastern Michigan women and the crazy playoff to get into match play on the men's side. There is a quick sidebar debate about whether top teams should get to bypass regionals or at least host a regional. From there, the boys dissect several recent coaching hires and transfer-portal news before talking U.S. Open qualifying and the college players we'll see at Shinnecock next week. Welcome To Preferred Lines, a comprehensive preview podcast for the 2026 RBC Canadian Open at TPC Toronto, powered by Read The Line. The boys discuss what to make of the on course flare ups between Scottie Scheffler and his caddie Ted Scott, as well as the breakthrough PGA Tour victory for JT Poston at the 2026 Memorial. They also run through a new TRUE or False segment, talk about creating college stars on golf, and the 2027 PGA Tour signature event setup changes that apparently are NOT happening next year. The boys then go into intense detail on the course specs and historical data from TPC Toronto, which hosted this event for the first time last season. What skillsets to highlight, modeling midwest Bentgrass greens, and which players have the proper course history to excel at TPC Toronto. Finally, a full scope breakdown of every range on the odds board, where Joe and John give their early leans and value spots in the outright market. Is now the time to bet Wyndham Clark? Is it finally time for Brooks? What is up with Aaron Rai's odds? All that and more!

Want the real playbook behind Division 1 College golf recruiting? Chris Bates sits down with University of Arizona Wildcats Head Coach Jim Anderson to get a candid look at NCAA Division 1 golf recruiting. They discuss roster limits, rankings, culture when coaches choose their next class—and what athletes can do to stand out without getting lost in the noise.Coach Anderson breaks down what's actually changed in college athletics and what remains timeless: a drive to compete, a tight-knit team culture, and the daily habits that make you better. He also explains how new roster limits make every scholarship decision matter and why one of his big things he looks for in a recruit is not talked about enough. If you're considering JUCO golf, you'll hear Coach Anderson speak about a clear path forward. Playing time, U.S.-based results, tough competition and a second window to be recruited can be powerful—especially if you produce week after week. Coach Anderson and Chris also focus on 'right fit' - the relationship with your coaches, the internal competition that pushes you, and weighing up NIL money.Coach Anderson and Chris also address a widespread debate: College golf vs professional golf as a teenager. Coach Anderson's verdict? The college advantage is competition: world-class courses, teammates who raise your ceiling every day and growing as a human being under college coaches who truly care about you, ultimately graduating with a degree.Hit play, get the insights, and decide with clarity.
