I met this weeks guest on the dance floor at a rave. I love that. I was promoting for an event or handing out stickers or something and I asked him if he was into DNB..He pointed at his T shirt and laughed..then I saw it and I laughed and instantly is was like we had been friends for a long time. Thinking back, I can't remember what was on that shirt at all lol. He introduced himself and it turns out I had been seeing this guys name on flyers for a few years now. We exchanged some info and here we are...My boy is a SELECTA. Deep funky vibes on this one. If you don't know, get to know! Representing Central Florida, please welcome Jungle Rivers. This weeks guest is a part of the fabric of our Florida dnb community. One could argue that her influence extends as far as the global dnb community as well. EVERYONE knows Victoria. There are party people that just bring the vibe. She's one of those special humans. We were blessed to have her on the mic for our first American Junglist night. It was a really exceptional event and she had a lot to do with it. She's a sick dj, a fire MC, and she currently has a pretty fresh tune out with Reflections on Rolled Up Records right now. Through this show I have had the great fortune of meeting some really amazing people...This weeks guest is no exception. I haven't met her in person yet but it seems like everyone knows her somehow. She once told me she was "dance floor famous".... I just love that. BIG RAVE vibes from this one. That's my shit. She's a pretty sick dj too and her aggressive mixing style is also my shit. Representing New Orleans LA, please welcome Terran it up! Terran Alonzo is a Chicana artist, US Army veteran, and rising star amongst her peers in the American dnb community. Sometimes I still get up in my head about meeting these guys. In this weeks case, I went to the label boss of one of the hottest labels in DNB to ask if he could get her to do a mix for us because in my mind that felt more comfortable...lol. It turns out I should have just sent her a message. She's the nicest! Representing Overview Music, North Carolina, and American underground dance music culture, please welcome VELLE. There are a few producers in North America writing music at her level. What's funny, is most American DNB heads probably have no idea she's American. Here's an American OG. When I was coming up and buying records, there were a few American producers I always checked out. He was one of them and his shit was good! It still is. He's been an influence for more than one generation of North American DnB head and we really love that. American DnB culture is deep and textured and this weeks guest has a lot to do with it's legacy. Representing Cleveland Ohio, Please welcome KC.
We always admire people with dedicated work ethics. This weeks guest is always hustling, always grinding, He's on what seems like a perpetual world tour. He writes music ranging from hip hop to dnb to juke. It's really sick to watch his career unfold over the years. We're really stoked to finally have him on. Representing DnBiD Chicago please welcome, Renan. A soulfully dubwise selector who isn't afraid of a filthy bassline. Active in the Jungle and Drum+Bass community since 1995, Chicago native Renan currently busies himself producing events featuring local and international talent at residencies around the city as well as collaborating and releasing tunes with production partner Stunna.
John Lamos aka DJ Lamebrane has been djing strictly drum & bass since the late 90's. Back in 2002 he was invited to check out a concept called Bassdrive Radio which was a live streaming drum & bass online radio station based in Chicago, the first of its kind in the United States. Since that very first Bassdrive show, Lamebrane has been with bassdrive.com eventually landing his own live two hour mix show in 2003 called the Hangover Hotline which airs every Saturday afternoon 1-3pm central and is still going strong 22 years later. With thousands upon thousands of hours of mixing drum & bass live on Bassdrive, holding multiple residencies in and around Chicago throughout the years, and being lucky enough to share the stage with some of the biggest names in worldwide drum & bass that have toured the Windy City, he continues to push the true underground dnb sound in 2025 and beyond. I shouldn't have to say anything about this weeks guest. His back catalogue of releases and the forthcoming ones speak for themselves. He's a bonafide American legend. Seeing him releasing on proper UK dnb labels with a career spanning decades now has always been really inspiring for me. He's a low-key OG and a badboy selector. Please welcome Jaybee. With releases on Liquid V, Chronic, Mac II, Good Looking, Innerground,Rubik, and a slew of other labels his music keeps going from strength to strength. Born to a radio DJ father he was raised listening to slew of different music genres that led him to hip hop and later on, drum and bass. Always fascinated with watching the dj's in hip hop videos, Jaybee obtained his first set of turntables at the age of 13 and started playing hip hop. A few years later he was intrigued by a friends "techno" compilation and wore out the hit the decks megamix series tape and found his love in breakbeats which led him to a outlaw Jungle party thrown by Digital Konfusion. It was at this event that Jaybee first discovered Jungle while witnessing DJ ODI double set ray Kieth's "terrorist", discovering it was possible to incorporate hip hop skills into Jungle. Flash forward 20 years and you can find him djing a weekly show on bassdrive.com every other Sunday from 10AM to 12PM EST. or in the studio working on whatever idea may roll through his head that day. His music is currently getting support by the likes of Bryan Gee, LTJ Bukem, Marky, D Bridge, A-Sides, PFM and Random Movement amongst a host of others. Tracklist below. The last one is still getting streams every day. Nick is a fucking BADMAN on the decks. Representing Mississippi DNB, please welcome 360 Degrees. I was lucky enough to be a dnb raver in Washington DC and Baltimore during the late 1990's and early 2000's. It was only years later that I came to realize how extra special that period was for DC dnb and its own roots and culture. This weeks guest played an integral part in building a lot of that. It's really humbling to share this one with ya'll. Please welcome, R4NS0M. Originally hailing from the storied Washington DC drum & bass scene, Boston's R4NS0M has been at the forefront of the American drum & bass movement since its early days. Over the course of his career, He's performed at legendary events like Buzz, Ultraworld, Resonate, Eklektic, Platinum, Respect, Elements, and Cadence, and crafted mixes for Toronto's iconic Prophecy FM and Winslow's Bad Snares Anonymous. As a producer, he's released music on such labels as Moving Shadow, Ohm Resistance, Soul Deep, Detached Audio, 1 More Thing, WiddFam, and 4 Corners Music, and worked with a number of artists, including Sinthetix, Corrupt Souls, UFO!, Ben Rolo, Fake, Dvalue and Metcalf. With decades of work under his belt, and a decidedly individual take on the drum-n-bass sound, R4NS0M continues to cement one of the more unique legacies in the history of the genre as a creator and pioneer. This weeks guest comes to us by way of Yamatai Records all the way from Los Angeles California. There's a reason one of the best labels in DNB right now tapped him to make this mix and carry their flag here in the States. I'm a big fan of this weeks guest. He's a force for all things DNB. Running both Wicked Jungle Records and ION drive, he's got 2025 planned all the way out. Please welcome, Raket. He has been spreading the sound of Jungle and Drum & Bass since 1997. Anywhere you could find good quality Drum & Bass, Raket has been there, in the crowd, on the Mic, or behind the decks. In 2014 Raket joined with a longtime friend, the artist Gridlab, and formed the production duo Self Aware. They hit the scene hard releasing on underground D&B labels from the UK with several consecutive Jungle and D&B releases. After the frustrating experience they had releasing music on underground labels, in late 2015 they decided to form their own label, Wicked Jungle Records. The label launched with the release of Wicked Jungle Volume I in January 2016. The compilation showcased a varied palette of underground Jungle and Drum & Bass. Wicked Jungle quickly became known as a go to label for classic styled Jungle tunes. By 2023 Wicked Jungle's growth became hard to contain within the one label and Raket rebranded his sub label Ion Drive, which was primarily used as an outlet for Raket and Gridlab to experiment off genre, in the retro sounds of Electro, House and Techno. Once rebranded though, Ion Drive became the outlet for all things Drum & Bass. This allowed Wicked Jungle breathing room to focus on the sounds of classic and contemporary Jungle, Drumfunk, Hardcore, and other styles of heavily chopped break beats, that more closely align with the original sounds of Wicked Jungle Productions back in the 90's. This brings us to 2024 where Raket has relocated from sunny South Florida to Maryland. He has a full year of hard-hitting Jungle and Drum & Bass releases lined up for both labels, featuring artists from across the globe, as well as several from himself. You can hear new mixes dropping often on his Ion Drive Mix Series as well as pop up live streams and guest mixes on radio shows around the globe. There is no stopping someone as passionate about Jungle and D&B as Raket.most upfront in Drum & Bass experimentation. I haven't had the opportunity to meet this week's guest yet but I hope to at some point. She's a whole vibe and my new favorite DJ. After moving to Austin, Texas, she became a resident DJ for Mental Note, a night dedicated to liquid funk and jazzy drum and bass. Now based in Chicago, she continues to share her passion for fast-tempo music across the Midwest. Chicago's Hiroko Yamamura wanders as usual into genres, this time to her first love, drum and bass. Please enjoy❤️ Back next week -Thomas
I can't really remember when I met this week's guest. He has kind of been a part of the fabric of American DNB for as long as I can remember..When I join a new dnb group online or talk to some junglists in some tiny pocket of the country, they already know Mike...better known as Gigan, he stands tall in the world of drum and bass, revered for his electrifying DJ performances and groundbreaking production work. He's not just a DJ; he's a visionary force behind Boomslang Recordings, pushing the boundaries of the genre. Gigan's impact is felt far beyond the DJ booth, with his insightful contributions to Knowledge Magazine, offering invaluable perspectives on the intricacies of drum and bass culture. His journey into electronic music began with an insatiable curiosity for sonic exploration, propelling him to the forefront of the drum and bass movement. His mixes for Nu Urban Music, especially "The History of Ragga Jungle Volumes 1 & 2," showcase his talent for blending raw energy with finesse, drawing inspiration from artists like Congo Natty and Suburban Base. Beyond his solo work, Gigan is a collaborator and mentor, shaped by luminaries like Joe Ford and Transforma. His dedication to community is evident in his involvement with Konkrete Jungle, where he not only participates but also spearheaded the opening of the Kansas City chapter. Gigan's commitment to pushing boundaries cements his legacy as a pioneer in drum and bass, ensuring his influence resonates for years to come. Please enjoy❤️ Back next week -Thomas
He's one of the founding fathers of the Detroit D&B scene, was a member of Konkrete Jungle Detroit, has played alongside countless headliners, Co-Founder of Impulse Detroit and hosting a regular dnb show on Undergroundbass.uk Please welcome 8en Tracklist below Please enjoy❤️ Back next week -Thomas
I started following this weeks guest on Soundcloud..10ish years ago? I have known of him or about him in some capacity via the internet for a long time now. Him and his crew have a fierce reputation for throwing some wicked parties. It's really sick to have him on. Just a few weeks ago, he was hosting an MIA joint and he put out an open invitation for someone to split his opening slot with him. I was humbled by his generosity. I'll bet whoever got that opportunity, will never forget it. Please welcome DE LA MOTA
Excited to share this one guys! This weeks guest is something of an American DNB Icon. His show, The Greenroom on bassdrive.com is a staple for a lot of heads. He has releases on Fokuz Recordings (One of my favorite secret weapon labels for many years), Lucky Devil, Influenza Media, Soul Deep...and sooooo many more. Please welcome STUNNA Tracklist below
One of my favorite things about this show is the opportunity it's given me to meet other humans that are obsessed with dnb like me. My circle has grown exponentially and it's humbling. Thanks you guys! Speaking of meeting people through AJS, I'm excited to welcome Scotticus Finch. He got his start in the Seoul underground, playing with low-end heavy hitters like Bass Attack and DNBS. Never one to get complacent, he founded and ran the monthly Mixtape while juggling his various residencies and crew obligations around the city. Since leaving Korea, he's played around the world, from clubs in Europe, Australia, and India to gigs all over the US. After years holding it down as a resident with Oakland's Dystopia, he's now based in Austin, spinning for the likes of Something Liquid, Lucid, and Catalyst; providing support for acts like Makoto, Jade, Grafix, Euphonique, and Ed Solo; and headlining shows from Seattle to Sydney to Amsterdam. There are only a few American dnb dj's as influential as him. Pinching myself when I saw this one in the inbox. He's one of the most revered drum & bass DJ's in the country. His unique blends of jump up drum and bass, amazing scratching, and original production consistently rock heads. He's been at it for years. In the day I had my DJ Rectangle battle records trying so hard to make it sound like he does..A whole generation of us did... a whole new generation of djs are trying to now. He has a uniquely American take on UK drum bass and it's sick to death. I'm really excited to share this one especially. Please welcome Danny The Wildchild Please enjoy❤️ Back next week -Thomas
