Podcastin' It's Back!Steve and Justin return from their much-needed break to dive into one of their all-time favorite disasterpieces: DANCIN' IT'S ON! Join the boys as they head to Panama City Beach, where, as far as they can tell, it's illegal not to dance. This tale of star-crossed lovers marks the swan song of legendary choreographer David Winters (Space Mutiny), who somehow managed to run up a budget of nearly $12 million, though no one's quite sure on what. Here's some old-fashioned, good ol' Grateful Dead for you.. This week from September 18, 1970 at the Fillmore East in New York City.. we have a partial soundboard tape that has somehow survived these years to bring us back to what it was like to hear the boys in that magical space. The first two songs, Truckin' and Black Peter, are from the acoustic set - with Pigpen on piano on Truckin' and David Nelson mandolin on Black Peter... The end of the electric set which we have here is blessed with a rare 'Operator' and two really well jammed out numbers - Dancin' in the Streets and Good Lovin'. This mix captures over 5 decades of music in just short of 3hrs, with everything from disco to trance, including something old, something new, quite a few borrowed, but nothing blue. Enjoy x

In this very special time capsule episode, we share one from the archives of The Electric Gold Hour on WRVU 91.1 FM. In this New Year's Eve episode from 1999, the boys reflect back on a wild ride through Nashville in the 1990's while also looking at what might lay ahead for the city. The boys share their preparations for Y2K, and wonder whether the town might ever be significant enough to support an MLS team. They lament the closing of Opryland and celebrate wonderful music events like River Stages and Dancin' in the District. They've got some controversial opinions to share about the brilliance of Chris Gaines and the strains of Nashville growth. They share some of their favorite music, movies and television from the 90's before wrapping up with some predictions about where the city is headed. And they drink beer.
Today, I'm so excited to announce the 250th episode of Backstage Babble. The mission of the podcast has always been to document Broadway history, and I'm thrilled to welcome a man who has had a profound influence on Broadway history over several eras in his work as a dancer and a choreographer: Wayne Cilento. Tune in to hear some of the stories of his legendary career, including his reflections on the 50th anniversary of A CHORUS LINE, how Michael Bennett kept the show on track, discussing BIG DEAL with Bob Fosse, reinventing DANCIN' for 2023 audiences, creating a movement style for WICKED, collaborating with Des McAnuff on TOMMY and HOW TO SUCCEED, how an Elvis Presley postcard inspired “Pinball Wizard,” how THE ACT led him to become a choreographer, how choreographing commercials helped him hone his skills as a director, the challenges of reviving SWEET CHARITY, making his Broadway debut with BABY, working with Heather Headley on AIDA, coming in on DREAM at the last minute, lending his talents to HIGH SOCIETY and THE MAGIC SHOW, why he turned down SUMMER, choreographing Chita Rivera in JERRY'S GIRLS, choreographing acts for everyone from Carol Channing to Alicia Keys, exploring new forms of dance for HOLLER IF YA HEAR ME, backstage shenanigans at SEESAW, his memories of RACHAEL LILY ROSENBLOOM…, and so much more. Don't miss this in-depth conversation with a seven-time Tony nominee and true Broadway veteran. Wildcat Tickets: https://54below.org/events/54-sings-wildcat/

Have you ever wondered if it's possible to chase rodeo dreams without having a background or family in the industry? If so, you won't want to miss this inspiring conversation with Miranda Reed, Miss Rodeo Sandhills title holder and 2025 Dancin' with the Rodeo Stars co-champion! In this episode, Miranda shares her journey from comeptitive dance into the heart of the rodeo world and the profound impact of her platform, "Rope Your Dreams." She opens up about how a love for team roping ignited a spark that led her to embrace the life of a cowgirl, despite her city roots. Her background has not only enriched her rodeo experience but also fueled her determination to help others believe they, too, can pursue their dreams despite a non-traditional background. As the conversation unfolds, Miranda sheds light on the multifaceted role of a rodeo queen, one that goes far beyond the arena. The challenges of riding unfamiliar horses and delivering impromptu speeches are just the tip of the iceberg! Through touching stories from her time as a queen, Miranda illustrates how rodeo queens act as essential liaisons between the rodeo industry and the public, blending skill with public engagement to create meaningful connections and educational opportunities. We also navigate through the strategic intricacies of the rodeo industry, from the rigorous planning to financial hurdles that athletes often face. The episode also highlights the rodeo community's responsibility to sustain rodeo athletes, with added support from organizations like the Western Sports Foundation.

This week, Wells is desperate for allergy relief—at this point, he'd rather die young with a clear (medicated) nose than old and stuffed up. Meanwhile your girl Brand-eye literally survived a tornado by hunkering down in a basement bathroom, so who had the worse week, YFTer's? Meanwhile, Wells recounts a recent Utah golf trip where getting a drink was nearly impossible, but getting out of a speeding ticket was surprisingly easy. Such a conundrum. Most importantly though, Wells learned a new word on the trip! Derfing. Look it up - unless you're Mormon and you already know. Also, why do people say ‘how come'? Or should we say how come people say how come? Makes no sense! Your hosts have plenty of fave things this week including a hot new track from Miley, and the most serious question of all - do farts give the pleasure if they travel up the front?? We need to know!! byyyyee Favorite Things this week: 1923 White Lotus
