Micah Klutinoty in Week 2 of the Set Free series Through Romans 8:5-17, this passage encourages believers to live by the Spirit, not the flesh, by setting their minds on spiritual things and actively putting sin to death. Through the power of the Holy Spirit and the assurance of being adopted as God's children, Christians are called to fight sin not out of fear, but from a place of love and identity in Christ.

Welcome to The Times of Israel's Daily Briefing, your 20-minute audio update on what's happening in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world. Military reporter Emanuel Fabian joins host Amanda Borschel-Dan for today's episode. Fabian was in Lebanon last week, where troops have pushed into the “second line of villages,” about 4-5 miles from the border. He describes what he saw and speaks about a briefing he had with a senior Israeli defense official, who told reporters Thursday that there is a substantial chance of Israel reaching a ceasefire agreement in Lebanon. Five Hamas terrorists who participated in the October 7 onslaught were killed in a recent airstrike in the northern Gaza Strip, the Israel Defense Forces announced on Friday, noting that two were commanders who led the massacre and kidnapping of civilians from the Mefalsim area during the brutal attack. Fabian updates us on what is going on inside Gaza right now, even as winter rains are approaching. This morning, Defense Minister Israel Katz said he will not approve the promotion of two officers from the IDF Southern Command until their role in the failures of October 7 are investigated. This comes after IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi announced a new round of senior appointments in the military, including 11 new brigadier generals and four new colonels, as well as six brigadier generals and 19 colonels who are moving to new positions at the same rank. We discuss several of the new appointments and some of the pressures on Katz. Emirati authorities have found the body of Rabbi Zvi Kogan, an emissary to Abu Dhabi's Chabad chapter missing since Thursday, the Prime Minister's Office and Foreign Ministry said in a joint statement Sunday. This is a developing story, but Fabian describes what we know so far. For news updates, please check out The Times of Israel's ongoing live blog. Discussed articles include: Aiming to enable return of displaced Israelis, IDF pushes deeper into south Lebanon Woman lightly wounded as Hezbollah fires rockets and drones at center, north Defense official says major chance for Lebanon truce after US envoy visits for talks IDF says it killed five Hamas terrorists who led Mefalsim area massacres on Oct. 7 Body of slain Chabad rabbi found in UAE; Israel condemns ‘antisemitic act of terror' Subscribe to The Times of Israel Daily Briefing on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome to the leading hope Podcast! Today we're diving back into our archives to Episode 197, titled "Only Let God Uproot You," featuring a candid conversation between myself and Pastor Kevin Jack about a crucial leadership principle that often goes overlooked. In this episode, we explore the importance of leading as if you'll be in your current position forever, even when you know that might not be the case. We discuss why it's essential to tackle the hard problems head-on instead of kicking them down the road for the next leader to deal with. Kevin shares some personal insights from his experiences in ministry and we dive into why true success often comes after the seven-year mark in any endeavor. Whether you're leading in a church, a business, or even in your marriage, this episode challenges you to commit fully to where you are right now. We talk about the dangers of always having one foot out the door and how that mindset can compromise your integrity and effectiveness as a leader. So get ready for some straight talk on leadership longevity, dealing with difficult issues, and allowing only God to uproot you from your current assignment. This episode is packed with practical wisdom that'll help you become a more committed, effective leader. Let's jump right in!
In 2004, organizer and arts organizer David Solnit published the anthology "Globalize Liberation: How to Uproot the System and Build a Better World." In the introduction he said, “the new radicalism looks different everywhere,” and cited the Zapatista rebellion in Chiapas, Mexico, as a pivotal moment in his understanding of the new radicalism. “The Zapatistas held that there are multiple valid frameworks to look at the world,” and contrasted this outlook with the “cookie-cutter model” of the past, epitomized by the Soviet Union. The book served as an organizers guide, but the many chapters described a movement of movements that emerged in the post-Cold War era. The movements that challenged neo-liberal institutions like the World Trade Organization, the World Bank and the Free Trade Area of the Americas; and the U.S. empire's invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq. The movements that later lead to Occupy, the global climate justice movements, a labor resurgence and efforts to fight empire and genocide in Palestine and other parts of the world. Scott talks with long time friend and comrade David Solnit (@dsolnit) about that movement of movements, the moment in the early 2000s it came out of, lessons learned and how the book still still applies to movement organizing twenty years later. Bio// David co-founded Art and Revolution Collective in the San Francisco Bay Area, and organized as part of the Direct Action Network in Seattle in 1999 and Direct Action to Stop the War in San Francisco in 2003. Hey Friend! If you're new here, my name is Arlina and I'll be your host. If you're on Instagram, you can find me @ arinaallen, so drop by and say hi! I'd love to meet you! In this episode, I have a conversation with Caroline Beidler, the co-author of “You are not your trauma: Uproot unhealthy patterns, Heal the family tree” Trauma is such an important topic because so many of us in recovery from addiction are living with unhealed trauma. It affects our sense of self-worth, the people we surround ourselves with and even our ability to get or stay sober. Caroline and I talk about her story of abandonment, growing up with dysfunctional parents, surviving multiple sexual assaults, and her own addictions. We actually recorded this episode prior to the one we did with her mother Diana Dallas, who co-authored the book, but I was so moved by THAT conversation that I published it first. So yeah, there's no master plan, I'm literally flying by the seat of my pants! Caroline's story is one of trauma, but ultimately, she is also a living example of how far you can go, when there is willingness to do the work of recovery. So without further delay, please enjoy this episode with Caroline. Need Help Applying Sobriety Practices Into Your Life? A complicated case of two people taking possession of the same area, but divided between the trees and the land -- but how can one have the right to trees without any land for them to be planted in? Also, a case of densely planted trees, which means some of them will need to be uprooted and replanted elsewhere, so there's no real way to establish the presumption of ownership. In contrast to the lack of presumption of ownership for a sole tree and the land it's planted in.

First, we begin today's discussion with a critique of the new Con Inc., which claims to be a reboot of the old GOP but in fact is continuing to espouse right-wing philosophy in the abstract while being MIA or downright subversive when it comes to the raw use of power to implement said ideas. Next, we're joined by energy expert Steve Milloy of JunkScience.com who thoroughly debunks the entire premise of global warming being linked to carbon output and to our human activity. He notes that we cannot afford to allow Republicans to agree to the lie of the climate religion. It is too destructive. We discuss how the scientific consensus is just like COVID and how just as with COVID policies, wind, solar, and carbon capture actually harm their stated goals of an environmentally friendly universe. We also discuss how drilling for oil is not good enough if we don't also expand refinery and delivery capacity and repeal all of the subsidies for the green grift. Learn more about your ad choices. Full Hour | Today, Dom led off the Dom Giordano Program by offering up his thoughts on new development in the debate over abortion, noting that the Supreme Court has rejected a challenge to mifepristone, an abortion pill, which Dom argues is a positive because it quashes future attempts for the Democrats to politicize the issue. This leads Dom to preview how the Democrats will progress the debate to continue diminishing Republicans, previewing an upcoming decision in Idaho. Then, Dom moves into local issues, telling of a statewide debate over school choice that has now involved rapper Jay-Z, who's spoken in favor of allowing parents to choose where to educate their children. So many Christians live well beneath the grace that God has for them in their life. Why? We haven't fully received the forgiveness of Christ and haven't fully given out that forgiveness. This week Pastor Jared Blauwkamp kicks off a series Uproot: receiving and extending the forgiveness of Christ. We hope you will see that forgiveness is not something that God has to do. It is something He delights in doing.

It can be as simple - and meaningful - as picking up a fiction novel, reading it, and discussing it with your book club. Because once you see, hear, and learn, we don't think you'll ever be able to “go back to how it used to be.” You'll change. You'll do things differently. You'll make ripple effects happen. Change is not a one-size-fits-all phenomenon, nor is change-making. More often than not, it starts small, local, and with just one intentional action. Today we bring you just that book that we recommend you read with your book club in 2024. The fabulous co-authors of Rebecca Not Becky, Christine Platt, and Catherine Wigginton Green, drew on both their lived experiences and their work as DEI advocates to bring you all a relatable story that will impact the way you see the world, no matter who you are! What to listen for: Why this book is different - written by DEI practitioners from a Black and white perspective What the authors found most challenging and surprising about writing the book The unexpected feedback the authors are receiving so far How helpful it is to write and post real, positive reviews on works like this About the authors: Both live in Washington, DC. CHRISTINE PLATT writes literature for children and adults that centers on African diasporic experiences—past, present, and future. She holds Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees in African and African American studies as well as a Juris doctorate in general law. She currently serves as Executive Director for Baldwin For The Arts. CATHERINE WIGGINTON GREENE is a writer and filmmaker whose storytelling focuses on strengthening human connection and understanding. Her feature documentary “I'm Not Racist . . . Am I?” continues to be used throughout the US as a teaching tool for starting racial dialogue. A graduate of Coe College and Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism, Catherine is currently pursuing her doctorate from The George Washington University's Graduate School of Education and Human Development.
