The series of Berachot which we are required to recite each morning include Birkot Ha'Torah – three blessings over the privilege of studying Torah. The unique importance of these Berachot is expressed by the Gemara in Masechet Nedarim (81). The Gemara observes that some Torah scholars have children who do not become Torah scholars, and it attributes this phenomenon to the fact that these scholars do not recite Birkot Ha'Torah. It seems that in their eagerness to begin learning, they proceed directly to their studies without first reciting the Beracha over the Misva of Torah study. This neglect of Birkot Ha'Torah has an impact upon their children, causing them not to pursue Torah scholarship. Rav Yishak Abuhab (Spain, 14 th century) writes that the Gemara here refers to scholars who learned Torah as an intellectual exercise, for the mental satisfaction that Torah study brings, rather than for the purpose of fulfilling a Misva and connecting with Hashem. They therefore did not recite Birkot Ha'Torah, just as we do not recite Berachot over the study of other disciplines – because for them, Torah learning was just another field of study. This directly affected their children. In any event, it is clear from the Gemara's comment that one of the ways parents can help ensure that their children follow the path of Torah is by properly fulfilling the obligation of Birkot Ha'Torah. Many concerned parents approach me to receive advice, to ask what they can do so that their children will grow to become Torah-committed Jewish adults. One strategy is to recite Birkot Ha'Torah each morning with Kavana (concentration). Indeed, these Berachot include the prayer that our descendants should all study Torah ("Ve'niheyeh Anahnu Ve'se'esaenu Ve'se'esa'eh Se'esa'enu…"). By reciting this prayer with proper Kavana, we can help ensure that our children commit themselves to Torah. In our generation, especially, our children and grandchildren need all the help, encouragement and prayers they can get to remain committed to Torah learning, and so it behooves us all to do our part, which includes properly reciting Birkot Ha'Torah each morning. The Ateret Zekenim teaches that besides during Birkot Ha'Torah, there are also other places in the morning prayer service where one should pray with special intention that his offspring follow the path of Torah. One is the Beracha of "Ahabat Olam" recited before Shema, where we ask Hashem for the wisdom to properly learn and observe the Torah ("Ve'ten Be'libenu Bina Le'habin U'l'haskil…"). While one recites this prayer, he should have in mind his wish that his children and all his descendants become Torah scholars. And in the "U'ba Le'sion" prayer, we cite the verse in which G-d promises that the words of Torah "shall not leave your mouth, the mouth of your offspring, or the mouth of your offspring's offspring, from now and for all eternity" ("Lo Yamushu Mi'picha U'mi'pi Zar'acha…" – Yeshayahu 59:21). Here, too, one should pray that all his descendants will be devoted students of Torah. Toward the end of "U'ba Le'sion," we ask that Hashem "open our hearts" to learn Torah and to live with love and fear of Him – and one should concentrate at this point on his desire that his children grow to become Sadikim. Rav Yehezkel Landau of Prague (1713-1793) writes that in addition, reciting Birkot Ha'Torah properly, with Kavana, helps us remember the material we learn. Many students of Torah struggle to retain the information, and one way we can help remember what we learn is by paying closer attention to Birkot Ha'Torah each morning and reciting it with feeling and concentration.

Pierwsze wzmianki o rydwanach w Biblii pojawiają się już w Księdze Rodzaju.Gdy Józef zyskał zaufanie faraona, był obwożony jego rydwanem, aby pokazać jego nową pozycję. Później sam posiadał własny rydwan. W Rodzaju 46:29 czytamy: “Józef kazał zaprząc swój wóz i wyjechał do Goszen na spotkanie Izraela, ojca swego”. W oryginale hebrajskim występuje tutaj słowo merkawáh oznaczające rydwan. Czy jest to jednak egipski wynalazek?Zarówno konie jak i rydwany zaczęto używać na stepach. Chodzi tutaj o ludy indoeuropejskie, które jako pierwsze zaczęły używać szprychowe koła i parę koni. W ten sposób powstał lekki pojazd bojowy. Należy to odróżnić od cięższych wozów, z pełnymi kołami ciągniętymi przez woły. Takie wozy były wcześniejsze i używano je na terenach dzisiejszej Polski. Konie pochodziły jednak ze stepu. Są one szybsze od wołów, ale jednocześnie słabsze. Tak więc rydwany musiały być lżejsze. Doprowadzono do tego między innymi zmieniając pełne koła w szprychowe.Taką konstrukcję wraz z końmi przejęły ludy irańskie oraz Hetyci, a od nich Egipcjanie. Ci ostatni jeszcze bardziej odchudzili rydwan, przez co stał się on szybszy. Najczęściej było w nim dwóch wojowników: woźnica i łucznik. Egipcjanie mieli łuki kompozytowe. Zarówno rydwan jak i ten łuk Egipcjanie przejęli od Hyksosów. Był to lud semicki, który podbił dolny Egipt i ustanowił tam swoją dynastię. XV dynastia rządząca w Egipcie to właśnie Hyksosi. Jest z tym związana pewna interpretacja Biblii.W Wyjścia 1:8 czytamy: “Tymczasem rządy nad Egiptem objął nowy król, który nie znał Józefa”. Niektórzy historycy twierdzą, że chodzi właśnie o zmianę dynastii. Według nich gdy Józef przybył do Egiptu rządzili tam semiccy Hyksowie. Jednak Egipcjanie pokonali ich i ponownie zaczęła rządzić egipska XVI dynastia. Prześladowania Żydów i próba unicestwienia ich jako narodu miała być właśnie powodowana strachem przed semitami. Nie jest to udowodniony fakt, ale tak według niektórych historyków należy interpretować zmianę w traktowaniu Żydów w Egipcie.Wracając do rydwanu Hyksosi mający rydwany i łuki kompozytowe pokonali Egipcjan. Ci jednak przejęli obie te rzeczy od swoich wrogów i je udoskonalili. Stworzyli lżejsze rydwany. Przesunęli oś kół do tyłu przez co egipskie rydwany były zwrotniejsze. Mając te ulepszone rydwany wygonili Hyksosów. Później podbili też Kanaan. Ich taktyka polegała na tym, że podjeżdżali do wrogów strzelali do nich z łuku i odjeżdżali. Łuki kompozytowe były mniejsze i świetnie nadawały się do użycia z rydwanu. Te wozy wojenne miały jednak jedną wadę.W Wyjścia 14:23 czytamy “Egipcjanie ścigali ich i weszli za nimi w środek morza - wszystkie konie faraona, jego rydwany i jego jeźdźcy”. Egipcjanie ścigali Mojżesza i Izraelitów uchodzących z Egiptu. Kolejny werset 25 mówi: “sprawił, że odpadły koła jego rydwanów, tak że z trudnością mogli posuwać się naprzód”. Rydwany miały trudność poruszać się po podmokłym terenie. Prawdopodobnie o to tutaj chodzi gdy mowa jest o trudnościach w posuwaniu rydwanów naprzód. Tą słabą stronę rydwanów wykorzystano później w czasach sędziego Baraka.Król Kanaanu miał 900 rydwanów z żelaznymi kosami. Dowodził nimi jego wódz Sysera. Sędzia Barak i jego oddziały schronili się na górze Tabor, gdzie nie mogły wjechać rydwany. Później jednak zeszli. W Sędziów 4:15 czytamy: “I wzbudził Pan popłoch u Sysery i wśród wszystkich jego wozów, i w całym jego obozie przez Baraka, tak iż Sysera zeskoczył z wozu i uciekał pieszo”. Dlaczego Sysera nie pokonał Baraka i czemu uciekał pieszo. Najwyraźniej wylał potok Kiszon, który sprawił, że rydwany stanęły na mokrej ziemi. W Sędziów 5:21 czytamy: “Potok Kiszon porwał ich, Prąd potoku Kiszon”.Później sami Izraelici mieli rydwany. O Salomonie czytamy w 2 Kronik 1:14: “Następnie zebrał Salomon wozy wojenne i jezdnych, tak że miał tysiąc czterysta wozów wojennych i dwanaście tysięcy jezdnych, i poumieszczał ich w grodach-wozowniach i przy swojej królewskiej osobie w Jeruzalemie”. Warto zwrócić szczególnie uwagę na grody-wozownie czyli miasta rydwanów. Wiele miast w górach kiepsko się nadawało do powożenia rydwanów. Nadawała się jednak do tego dolina Jizreel.Po podziale Izraela na dwa państwa rydwany znajdowały się właśnie na północy, która miała tereny lepsze do tego typu pojazdów. Rydwanami jeździli tacy królowie 10-plemiennego królestwa Izraela jak Omri i jego syn Achab. Archeologia potwierdziła, że miasta rydwanów to były Jizreel oraz Megiddo. Wielu królów walczyło z rydwanów i na nich zginęło. W 1 Królewskiej 22:34 czytamy o Achabie: “Wtem pewien wojownik ni stąd ni zowąd naciągnął łuk i trafił króla izraelskiego w spojenie między pasem a pancerzem. A ten rzekł do swojego woźnicy: Zawróć i wywieź mnie z pola bitwy, gdyż jestem ranny”.W 2 Królewska 9:21 czytamy: “Wtedy Jehoram rozkazał: Zaprzęgaj! I zaprzężono do jego rydwanu, i wyjechali, Jehoram, król izraelski, i Achazjasz, król judzki, każdy na swoim rydwanie, wyjechali naprzeciw Jehu i spotkali się z nim przy polu Nabota Jezreelczyka”. Jehu przyjechał jak szalony na rydwanie do Jizreel. Naprzeciw wyjechali król Izraela i król Judy. Jehu zabił obu i sam został królem Izraela. Warto zwrócić uwagę, że każdy z nich miał swój własny rydwan.Przed wyborem pierwszego króla Samuel zapowiedział co będzie on robił. W 1 Samuela 8:11 czytamy: “Będzie zabierał waszych synów i sadzał ich na swoich wozach i rumakach, aby biegali przed jego wozem”. Król Izraela miał powoływać ludzi także do walki na rydwanach wojennych. Inne proroctwo zapowiadało pokój. W Psalmie 46:10 (9) czytamy: “Kładzie kres wojnom aż po krańce ziemi, Łamie łuki i kruszy włócznie, Wozy ogniem pali”. Rydwany były tak związane z wojną, że położenie kresu wojnom musiało się wiązać ze spaleniem tych wozów bojowych.Rydwany bojowe używano w Egipcie, Asyrii i Persji. Później jednak nastała władza Greków. Używali oni głównie piechoty, później także konny. Podobnie Rzymianie, którzy przyszli po Grekach. Rydwanów zaczęto używać wyłącznie do wyścigów i w celach prestiżowych. W Dziejach Apostolskich 8:28 mamy opis dostojnika królowej etiopskiej Kandaki. Czytamy tam: “Powracał, a siedząc na swoim wozie, czytał proroka Izajasza”. Ten dostojnik miał woźnicę oraz miejsce dla Filipa.Osobny temat to opis rydwanów w proroctwach biblijnych. Np. w Księdze Ezechiela rozdziale pierwszym nie pada słowo rydwan, ale w wielu Bibliach pojawia się komentarz typu: Wizja rydwanu Bożego. Jest tak np. w Biblii Tysiąclecia. Ostatni raz rydwan pojawia się w Objawieniu 9:9 gdzie czytamy: “Miały też pancerze niby pancerze żelazne, a szum ich skrzydeł jak turkot wozów wojennych i wielu koni pędzących do boju”. Apostoł Jan prawdopodobnie nie widział ataku rydwanów, ale pewnie widział wyścigi rydwanów.Ale już wcześniej wielu proroków wspominało o rydwanach. Elizeusz zobaczył jak jego poprzednika Eliasza zabiera ognisty rydwan. Nazwał go wtedy swoim ojce oraz rydwanem Izraela (2 Królów 2:11, 12). Tym wozom bojowym oddawano też cześć. 2 Królów rozdział 23:11 wspomina o rydwanach poświęconych słońcu, które król Jozjasz kazał spalić. Księga Izajasza, Jeremiasz i innych pororoków często wspominają o rydwanach. Mowa tam o tym aby nie liczyć na rydwany Egiptu, ale na Boga, którego wozy bojowe przyjdą szybko jak huragan.Podsumowując. Początkowo rydwany mieli wrogowie Izraela czyli Egipcjanie, Kananejczycy, Filistyni, Syryjczycy itd. Już jednak król Salomon sam jeździł rydwanem i posiadał tego typu wojska. Na pewno wielkie oddziały wozów bojowych posiadali tacy królowie Izraela jak Omri i jego syn Achab. Mówi o tym nie tylko Biblia, ale potwierdza to także archeologia takich miast jak Megiddo czy Jizreel. Prorocy biblijni często odwoływali się do szybkości rydwanu, przerażającego odgłosu pędzących kół, ale też przestrzegali przed ufaniem wozom bojowym.Kazał go też obwozić na drugim wozie swoim, a wołano przed nim: Na kolana! Zarówno publicznie, jak i w za zamkniętymi drzwiami unika ostrej krytyki Nawrockiego, a momentami nawet go chwali. Spierają się przy tym, czy należy mówić o zbrodniach wojennych Żydów czy Izraelczyków. Zbigniew Parafianowicz zauważa, że jednostki walczące w Strefie Gazy składają się w zasadzie wyłącznie z osób narodowości żydowskiej. Witold Jurasz zauważa z kolei, spotykając się ze zrozumieniem współprowadzącego, że takie ujęcie może spowodować niestety reakcje antysemickie. Ludzie niezbyt rozgarnięci mogą uznać, że za izraelskie zbrodnie, jeżeli mówić o nich jako o zbrodniach żydowskich, mogą odpowiadać Bogu ducha winni na przykład polscy Żydzi. Welcome to the Choosing Wisely Campaign series! This is the fourth episode of a 5-part series exploring the ABIM Foundation's Choosing Wisely Lists. This campaign aims to promote conversations between clinicians and patients to avoid unnecessary medical tests, treatments, and procedures. Our third case-based episode presents a child with fever and cough. After a clear discussion of the case and thoughtful consideration of the etiology and treatment strategies, we use the AAP's Choosing Wisely Hospital Medicine and Infectious Diseases lists to create a resource-conscious care plan that is safe and patient-centered. Najnowszy, nieco krótszy niż zazwyczaj odcinek podcastu Raport Międzynarodowy poświęcony jest przede wszystkim trzem kwestiom: szczytowi NATO w Hadze, amerykańskiemu uderzeniu na Iran i irańskiemu odwetowi na ów atak oraz zwolnieniu przez Aleksandra Łukaszenkę niewielkiej grupy więźniów politycznych.   Odnosząc się do szczytu NATO, Witold Jurasz i Zbigniew Parafianowicz zastanawiają się, czy Donald Trump powie w czasie jego trwania coś, co by podważało artykuł 5 Traktatu Północnoatlantyckiego, czy też spotkanie uda się odbyć bez szczególnych perturbacji? Obydwaj prowadzący nie mają złudzeń, że uda się osiągnąć kompromis w sprawie podniesienia progu wydatków na zbrojenia. Kompromis ten będzie polegać na tym, że na papierze wszystko będzie wyglądać świetnie, rzeczywistość zaś zapowiada się zdecydowanie bardziej ponuro. Nie zanosi się również na wielkie przełomy w kwestii jakichkolwiek decyzji, czy choćby deklaracji, w sprawie Ukrainy.   Odnosząc się z kolei do ataku Stanów Zjednoczonych na Iran i irańskiego odwetu, obydwaj prowadzący zauważają, że Iran odpowiedział w taki sposób, by zamanifestować opór przy jednoczesnym ograniczeniu wyrządzonych Amerykanom krzywd do minimum. Nikt w irańskich atakach na amerykańskie bazy nie zginął. Witold Jurasz i Zbigniew Parafianowicz zastanawiają się, czy umiarkowanie Iranu to wyraz przekonania o własnej słabości, czy też raczej sprytu reżimu w Teheranie, który zintensyfikuje prace nad programem jądrowym, ale równocześnie będzie zachowywał się w taki sposób, by nie sprowokować Izraela i USA do kolejnych uderzeń.    Komentując spotkanie generała Kellogga z Aleksandrem Łukaszenką, obydwaj prowadzący zauważają, że więźniowie polityczni byli w gruncie rzeczy trzeciorzędnym tematem rozmów. Tak naprawdę chodziło o scenariusz manewrów Zapad oraz kwestię ewentualnego zniesienia przynajmniej części sankcji nałożonych na Białoruś. Problem polega na tym, jak zauważa Witold Jurasz, że dzisiaj Aleksander Łukaszenko nie ma już najmniejszego wpływu na scenariusz wspomnianych szeroko zakrojonych ćwiczeń wojskowych. Z białoruskim prezydentem należało rozmawiać, kiedy jeszcze miał duże czy też przynajmniej znaczące pole manewru. Niestety wówczas niemal wszyscy zajmujący się Białorusią byli przeciwni utrzymywaniu dialogu z Mińskiem. Postawa ta była wynikiem albo ciężkiej naiwności, albo ciężkiej głupoty, albo ciężkiej zdrady. Ta ostatnia rymowałaby się wręcz z pracą na rzecz rosyjskich służb specjalnych. Czwartej opcji Witold Jurasz niestety nie dostrzega. Zbigniew Parafianowicz twierdzi, że były okresy, kiedy Polska próbowała dogadywać się z Białorusią, z czym nie zgadza się Witold Jurasz, który zauważa, że nawet jeżeli rząd taką intencję miał, to podległe rządowi agendy oraz instytucje politykę tę jawnie sabotowały. Polska zawsze była państwem całkowicie niezbornym, niezdolnym w istocie do prowadzenia polityki zagranicznej, bo nie da się jej prowadzić, gdy każda instytucja działa samowolnie i niezależnie od reszty.   Na końcu podcastu Witold Jurasz i Zbigniew Parafianowicz odnoszą się do krytycznych uwag części słuchaczy. Przedmiotem kontrowersji był postulowany przez prowadzących sposób radzenia sobie z potencjalnymi inspirowanymi przez Rosję zamieszkami w państwach bałtyckich. Zarówno Jurasz jak i Parafianowicz bez ogródek stwierdzają, że tego typu inicjatywy należy brutalnie pacyfikować, zaś wszyscy oburzeni tego rodzaju "brutalnością” zmieniliby zdanie, gdyby rzecz dotyczyła Polski. Witold Jurasz dodaje, że rozumie etyczne wątpliwości, ale zarazem dostrzega możliwe katastrofalne konsekwencje braku reakcji lub “miękkiego” reagowania na rosyjskie działania wywrotowe. W najlepszym razie oznaczałoby to poważną destabilizację regionu, w najgorszym - próby podważania suwerenności krajów bałtyckich. Rosja przejmując kontrolę na Litwie, Łotwie lub Estonii zafundowałaby tym państwom prawdziwy festiwal łamania praw człowieka. 

Ucieczka w środku nocy. To najbardziej mu pamiętamy. Tylko raz w historii Polski zdarzyło się, żeby król zbiegł, zostawiając pusty tron. Zarówno współcześni, jak i potomni zrównywali za to Walezego z ziemią! Czy rzeczywiście zasłużył na aż taką krytykę? Jakim był człowiekiem? Co możemy powiedzieć o jego wpływowej matce - Katarzynie Medycejskiej? Czy rzeczywiście płakał, kiedy został wybrany na władcę jednego z najpotężniejszych krajów Europy? Henryk Walezy był pierwszym królem polskim wybranym w wolnej elekcji. Szerokie poparcie tej kandydatury wśród szlachty brało się ze złożonych przez francuskiego ambasadora obietnic, które zostały spisane w dwóch dokumentach znanych dziś jako Artykuły henrykowskie i Pacta conventa. Od samego początku krótkiego swego panowania w Polsce, uwaga Walezego była skierowana na Francję, gdzie panował jego schorowany brat Karol IX. Wiosną 1574 roku, na wieść o jego śmierci, Henryk uciekł z Polski, by objąć tron w ojczyźnie. Do Rzeczpospolitej, mimo apeli i nalegań ze strony szlachty, już nie powrócił. W kampanii wyborczej niestety zabrakło poważnej debaty, która rozwiałaby wątpliwości prowadzących.   Witold Jurasz, mimo krytycznej oceny całokształtu polityki zagranicznej PiS, nie ma wątpliwości, że gdyby krajem w chwili napaści Rosji na Ukrainę rządziła obecna administracja, Polska nie dostarczałaby czołgów, idąc na zwarcie ze wszystkimi w zasadzie, poza Stanami Zjednoczonymi i Wielką Brytanią, sojusznikami. Równocześnie zaznacza, że dobrze byłoby, żeby w otoczeniu Karola Nawrockiego znaleźli się rozsądni panowie w szarych garniturach. Zbigniew Parafianowicz wyraża opinię zgoła przeciwną, identyfikując starych dyplomatów jako tych, którzy nie potrafią być asertywni w polityce zagranicznej. Witold Jurasz oponuje, stwierdzając, że grunt, by doradcy prezydenta mieli po pierwsze doświadczenie, a po drugie - w przeciwieństwie do wielu doradców Andrzeja Dudy - nie mieli potrzeby gwiazdorzenia.   Prowadzący podcast odnotowują atak dziennika The Times of Israel na Karola Nawrockiego za rzekomy negacjonizm Holokaustu i stwierdzają, że taki zarzut jest skandaliczny. Z uznaniem wspominają też protest kierowanego przez Radosława Sikorskiego Ministerstwa Spraw Zagranicznych przeciw kierowaniu takich oskarżeń wobec prezydenta elekta.   W dalszej części podcastu Zbigniew Parafianowicz i Witold Jurasz dyskutują na temat ukraińskiego ataku na rosyjskie bazy lotnicze i zastanawiają się, czy Ukraina nie podjęła nadmiernego ryzyka. Równocześnie obydwaj bardzo cieszą się z sukcesu Ukraińców. Komentują także rosyjskie propozycje “pokojowe”, które są niczym innym jak oczekiwaniem pełnej kapitulacji drugiej strony. Zarówno Witold Jurasz, jak i Zbigniew Parafianowicz stwierdzają, że jedynym językiem, który rozumieją Rosjanie jest ten oparty na trotylu.   W dalszej części podcastu po raz kolejny z ogromnym smutkiem odnotowane zostaje postępowanie Izraela w Strefie Gazy, tym razem chodzi o ataki na ludzi stojących w kolejce do punktów dystrybucji żywności. Mowa jest też o wizycie kanclerza Niemiec w Waszyngtonie. Obydwaj prowadzący zgadzają się, że Niemcy najprawdopodobniej zdołają porozumieć się ze Stanami Zjednoczonymi. Nie zabraknie również komentarza do wyborów w Korei Południowej.   Wypłynęły kolejne informacje na temat prototypu chińskiego myśliwca szóstej generacji. Witold Jurasz odnotowuje tu, że Rosjanie na dobre nie uruchomili jeszcze produkcji myśliwca piątej generacji, a Amerykanie i Chińczycy już mają prototypy samolotów bardziej zaawansowanych. Zbigniew Parafianowicz opowiada w podcaście o zabójstwie byłego bliskiego Wiktorowi Janukowyczowi ukraińskiego polityka, który został zastrzelony w Hiszpanii. Opisuje możliwe motywy tego zabójstwa. Przede wszystkim jednak zastanawiają się, czemu jedyna dyskusja na temat polityki zagranicznej, która przypominała cokolwiek zgodnego ze swoją słownikową definicją, odbyła się na kanale lidera Konfederacji.   Żeby nie wpaść w depresję, prowadzący wątek ten zamykają w miarę szybko i przechodzą do spraw międzynarodowych, odnotowując kolejny przykład wielkoruskiego szowinizmu i imperialnego chamstwa, którym jest wypowiedź rzecznika Władimira Putina Dmitrija Pieskowa. Moskiewski oficjel stwierdził, że Rosja odpowiada na ukraińskie ataki. Jurasz i Parafianowicz zastanawiają się nad tym, czy Donald Trump naprawdę zirytował się na Rosję czy jedynie próbuje wywierać presję, by na końcu się z nią w sposób skandaliczny dogadać.   Przy okazji omawiania spraw rosyjskich prowadzący spierają się w kwestii niemieckiej brygady, która jak twierdzi Witold Jurasz, powstaje na Litwie. Zbigniew Parafianowicz takiej ewentualności nie wyklucza, jednak nie podziela też pewności swojego współprowadzącego. Skoro zaś już o Litwie mowa, pomiędzy dziennikarzami wywiązała się dyskusja na temat relacji polsko-litewskich. Zarówno Witold Juraszek, jak i Zbigniew Parafianowicz podkreślają, że Litwini niestety źle traktują polską mniejszość. Zgadzają się również, że Polska powinna prowadzić bardziej asertywną politykę w stosunku do Wilna, rozbieżność zaczyna się w sposobie rozumienia tej asertywności. Zbigniew Parafianowicz uważa, że Polska powinna zaproponować Litwie obecność polskich sił zbrojnych na litewskim terytorium. Jednostka ta powinna zostać nazwana na cześć generała Żeligowskiego, co miałoby Litwinom pokazać naszą siłę. Witold Jurasz zauważa, że dyplomacja nie polega na pokazywaniu, tylko na załatwianiu i dlatego jest takiemu pomysłowi zdecydowanie przeciwny. Uważa, że byłby on równoznaczny ze znieważeniem litewskiej flagi. Innymi słowy, byłby nieskuteczny z punktu widzenia załatwienia kwestii np. pisowni polskich nazwisk.   W dalszej części podcastu Zbigniew Parafianowicz i Witold Jurasz dyskutują na temat tego, czy Europa zmienia stosunek do Izraela i odnotowują, że pałka, która była stosowana w stosunku do Polski, czyli zarzut antysemityzmu, dzisiaj nie miałaby już tak naprawdę jakiegokolwiek znaczenia. Jurasz odnotowuje też wizytę króla Karola w Kanadzie i stwierdza, że jakkolwiek mowa tronowa, którą brytyjski monarcha wygłosił w kanadyjskim parlamencie, była napisana przez rząd, to sam fakt wizyty jest ostentacyjnym wsparciem Kanadyjczyków w konflikcie z Donaldem Trumpem. Skomentowane zostają również rosyjskie i północnokoreańskie reakcje na pomysł stworzenia systemu obrony przeciwrakietowej, który objąć miałby całe terytorium Stanów Zjednoczonych oraz decyzja Indii o budowie myśliwca piątej generacji. To drugie jest o tyle znaczące, że najwyraźniej Indie już z Rosją myśliwców budować nie zamierzają.   W podcaście mowa jest też o wizycie sekretarz bezpieczeństwa krajowego Stanów Zjednoczonych Kristi Noem, która wsparła Karola Nawrockiego. Witold Jurasz złośliwie zauważa, że gdyby jakikolwiek niemiecki polityk poparł Rafała Trzaskowskiego, PiS twierdziłby, że oto obce państwa wtrącają się do polskiej kampanii wyborczej. Obydwaj prowadzący zgadzają się jednak, że w sprawie poparcia z zagranicy hipokryzją niestety wykazuje się nie tylko PiS, ale również Platforma Obywatelska, która z radością powitała nowo wybranego prezydenta Rumunii na marszu zwolenników Rafała Trzaskowskiego. Przy okazji wizyty Kristi Noem Witold Jurasz odnotowuje powstanie nowego zjawiska MAGA-feminizmu, czyli połączenia Biblii, botoksu, ostrego makijażu i kowbojek. W wypadku amerykańskiej sekretarz zostaje on wzbogacony jeszcze o nie najwyższy iloraz inteligencji.   Prowadzący podcast zastanawiają się nad losami rosyjskich dziennikarzy, których likwidacja USAID pozostawiła bez środków do życia. Jurasz i Parafianowicz zastanawiają się, czemu Polska nie jest w stanie przejąć tych ludzi i stworzyć małym kosztem świetnego medium, które wpływałoby na rosyjską opinię publiczną. Ostatnim poruszonym tematem jest książka o Wolfganga Munchau'a pod tytułem Kaput, która opowiada o klęsce niemieckiego pomysłu gospodarczego. Zbigniew Parafianowicz i Witold Jurasz zastanawiają się, czy Polsce nie grozi podobny scenariusz, czy nasz kraj ma pomysł na siebie za 25 lat. Historia kryzysu niemieckiego modelu rozwoju gospodarczego wskazuje bowiem na to, że pewnych przełomów technologicznych finansowo sam biznes, nawet niemiecki, nie podźwignie. Alibizmus a autocenzúra, tak môže vyzerať verejnoprávne spravodajstvo, tvrdí Machaj.Novou šéfkou verejnoprávneho Telerozhlasu sa stala producentka Martina Flašíková. Tentoraz hlavu STVR však už nevolil parlament, ale Rada STVR plná politických nominantov vlády a vládnej koalície a ktorá z vôle novej vlády získala aj veľmi silné právomoci.Dodýchala tak zvolením Martiny Flašíkovej verejnoprávnosť na Slovensku? Alebo vari - slovami Ježiša z kríža, je v prípade verejnoprávneho Telerozhlasu už "dokonané"? A ako veľká - či malá, bude verejnoprávnosť Telerozhlasu hlásnou trúbou vlády?Stane sa z verejnoprávnosti na Slovensku len prázdny pojem a smeruje verejnoprávny Telerozhlas už definitívne a nezvratne k transformácií na štátne médium - tak ako za Normalizácie, opäť hlásajúce pravdy "strany a vlády"? No a ak áno, kde sa stala chyba, bolo to už za Mečiara, ktorý dôveryhodnosť a nezávislosť ovládnutím STV prakticky zničil? Či vari bolo posledným klincom do rakvy sulíkovo zrušenie koncesionárskych poplatkov a nepokrytá snaha štvrtej vlády Roberta Fica ovládnuť nezávislé inštitúcie, vrátane Telerozhlasu?"Verejnoprávne spravodajstvo má byť postavená na overených a garantovaných faktoch. Tak, aby človek, ktorý to sleduje, si nemusel overovať, čo je alebo nie je pravda. To nie je jeho úloha. Robiť tam priestor pre 10 rôznych názorov je scestné. To je cesta do pekla a je to úplne mimo vektoru verejnoprávnost," tvrdí Luboš Machaj. No a ako to, že sa za "svoju" televíziu a rozhlas nepostavili ich koncesionári, teda ich diváci a poslucháči? Má zmysel ešte v STVR ostať - a brániť inštitúciu, alebo je zbytočné ju čo i len sledovať?"Vracajú sa sem normalizačné Ostrovčeky pozitívnej deviácie. In sunny South Africa, the American Civil War was going to reverberate in many ways. Firstly, the War created a Cotton Crisis and helped foster investments in Natal cotton farms. Before the war, most of Britain's cotton came from the Southern U.S., the slave plantations of the south. But the civil war disrupted these supplies, leading to a massive shortage. British textile mills were scrambling by year-end, and south Africa was on the radar along with other regions. The Natal government encouraged cotton growing, and for a brief moment in time, it was seen as a cash crop to grow. But the reality was, the soils, climate and shortage of labour made it unsustainable long term. Importantly, the British reassessed their strategic imperial priorities, and realised that the American Civil War exposed their fragile imperial control in distant lands. Despite the fact that a liberal Government was in power in the Britain, the Cape Colony and Natal became more strategically important as London sought to secure shipping routes and resources. The Suez Canal was still being constructed, the only way to India was around the Cape. It was the influence of slavery and labour policy that had a profound ideological impact on southern Africans. It led to a future connection, and Confederate influence inside South Africa. This is prescient, but important. The Boer Republics in particular took a great deal of interest in the break-away American states. The mindset, the republicanism, and sympathies with the pro-slavery states of the Confederacy all resonated with the Republics, particularly the ZAR. By 1860 Sir George Grey had thrown virtually the entire amaXhosa leadership into prison — Robben Island to be precise. Maqoma, Mhala, Xayimpi who'd overrun the military villages in the Eighth Frontier War, Silo, Xoxo, Stokwe. There were many amaThembu amaGqunukhwebe, Ndlambe, Ngqika chiefs and councillors marooned on Robben Island, where the winter winds howled across the flat land, where there was little protection from the extreme weather.
