Basking in Grief: How to detach and heal

"Some scars never fade, but that is the fact of life." Learning to live with these scars is a process and it takes courage to allow the emotions and the experiences to penetrate you in order for you to detach. Getting to the point of Lamentations 3:21-24 where the author says, I'll never forget the trouble, the utter lostness, the taste of ashes, the poison I've swallowed. I remember it all—oh, how well I remember— the feeling of hitting the bottom. But there's one other thing I remember and remembering, I keep a grip on hope: God's loyal love couldn't have run out, his merciful love couldn't have dried up. They're created new every morning. How great your faithfulness! I'm sticking with God (I say it over and over). He's all I've got left. Takes time. Grief is a part of life and is not only attached to the death of a loved one. It could be you are losing your grip on your marriage, your job, your finances, and anything sentimental to you. Sit and bask in the emotion, wear it like a shirt because then, you are able to face it head-on and detach. In today's episode, we reflect on Job and we feature a clip from psych2go.net for more insights on grief. My prayer is you gain a sense of comfort and healing as you listen to this therapeutic episode. Always remember that You are never too much for Christ to handle. He knows. Trauma, trials, and hardships are a disguise of what lies underneath; Gifts. Gifts that can only be discovered once we choose to not sweep anything under the carpet, because at the end of the day, that area will stink and infect the entire space. This week we talk about Moses and how he approached his disguised gift. We also highlight the story of Taruri Gatere courtesy of Engage talk who emerged stronger on the other side after battling a life of trauma for quite a while. I love what Fred Rogers once said... "Anything that's human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. The people we trust with that important talk can help us know that we are not alone.” Are you mentioning to someone what you are going through or are you bottling it up inside?
