Faith without works is dead.Faith is an action word. Double mindedness is something that God does not want us to operate in so many of us do without even realizing that we are. When someone is double minded , they are tossed between conflicting viewpoints. This stems from the person's doubt and manifests itself in the lack of commitment, consistency, and faith!

CD 1700 Diagnosing and Defeating Double MindednessI heard this in my spirit: “Don't major in the minor and minor in the major”!In our natural lives which is a pattern of or from our spiritual lives in order to change something we have to first come to the understanding that something needs changing. If we're feeling ill in our bodies, or in our minds then we need a diagnosis. Only after we get a diagnosis can we defeat the problem. This morning we're going to be talking about diagnosing and then defeating double-mindedness. Double-mindedness is something that will hinder your entire life until you bring it under subjection to the Word of God. Double-mindedness will keep you from receiving the promises of God's word which is the truth that makes you free!*Text: James 1:1-8 (KJV) James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting. [2] My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; [3] Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. [4] But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. [5] If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. [6] But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. [7] For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. [8] A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.#1 Divine Diagnosis *Reread James 1:8 (KJV) A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.Note the Bible give us a clear definition of what the situation will appear like in your life if you are being double-minded! He said we would be "unstable" (ak-at-as'-tat-os) inconstant - this has to do with making a decision and then ruling and living from that decision. If we're always changing our minds, changing our words, and thus changing our actions then we have just been diagnosed with double mindedness! Can you imagine getting inside of your automobile and there were two steering wheels? How could the automobile be driven? The answer is it could NOT be driven with two drivers! Let Jesus drive, that leads us to our next point:#2 Divine Direction*Reread James 1:5 (KJV) If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.The Lord God gives direction to all who ask in faith. His wisdom is a revelation of direction for our daily lives. See Proverbs 3 and 6 He promises to direct our past then Psalms 16 and 11 it says he will show us the path!#3 Divine Deliverance*Read James 1:17 (KJV) Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.Q. How?(Read James 1:17 and 18)*Read James 4:7-10 (KJV) Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. [8] Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. [9] Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. [10] Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.Decree I take God of His Word! He will do what he said! I refuse double-mindedness. I will not be ruled by the outside but led and empowered from the inside!Closing Illustration: Starbucks has over 170,000 varieties Support the show
The Bible is most aware of the problem of anxiety vortexes. But whereas too many believers today get sucked into those vortices the Bible counsels sober-mindedness. In this episode we unpack just what is sober-mindedness and offer some steps for how to achieve emotional sobriety. If you've ever watched professional golf you'll have realized that the pros intentionally seek to remain calm, sober-minded. Why is that? In the NFL Patrick Mahomes is a superb example of sober-mindedness, if not also athletic excellence. Let's examine some biblical cues so we can move toward emotional health. In the episode's cultural reflection I unpack further how unprecedented are the Trump administration's efforts to assess and trim the Federal bureaucracy. America's founders, when they established the grounds for our nation, never foresaw the explosive and unconstrained growth of what has become the fourth branch of government: the bureaucracy. Come laugh and think with me.
The home where we have lived and the citizenship of the country we live in profoundly shapes our values, beliefs, life perspective, desires, goals, and dreams, even when we are away from our home and even when we are residing in a different country. The Bible assures us Christians that Heaven is our eternal home and the place of our spiritual citizenship. Mature faith breathes the air of Heaven and is profoundly heavenly-minded. This Sunday we'll consider the massive difference that makes in how we live on earth.Support the show

I took this word from the title of a book by Puritan author John Owen - Spiritual-Mindedness. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Romans 8:6 (For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.) Taking control of your thought-life - valuable life skill for everyone, everyday! 2 Corinthians 10:5 - take every thought captive to obey Christ So our thoughts are the best and surest way of showing us what we are in ourselves. “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he” (Prov. 23:7). If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. Colossians 3:1-2 The strength of the mind is wasted by fruitless thoughts. The first object, then, of our spiritual thoughts is to consider what God is saying in the daily circumstances of life. Yet, such efforts require lots of time and an ecosystem of support. We end with advice from our guests about being courageous, self-reflective, and creative in order to make learning more equitable for students.

"The Dangers of Double-Mindedness" • Friday Service To give: www.ToddCoconato.com/give Website: www.PastorTodd.org Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Today, I want to address a critical issue affecting many Christians—double-mindedness. This spiritual condition can hinder our walk with God and cause various issues in our lives. Let us delve into the Word of God and seek His wisdom on this matter. 1. Understanding Double-Mindedness: James 1:8 (NKJV): "He is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways." 2. The Root of Double-Mindedness: James 4:8 (NKJV): "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded." 3. The Consequences of Double-Mindedness: Matthew 6:24 (NKJV): "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon." 4. Faith Without Doubt: Mark 11:23 (NKJV): "For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says." 5. Steadfastness in Faith: Hebrews 10:23 (NKJV): "Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful." 6. The Call to Spiritual Maturity: Ephesians 4:14-15 (NKJV): "that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ." Double-mindedness is a significant barrier to spiritual growth and a fulfilling Christian life. By drawing near to God, purifying our hearts, and committing ourselves wholly to Him, we can overcome this instability. Let us seek God with undivided hearts, trust in His promises, and grow into mature, steadfast believers.
Welcome to REPLAY THURSDAY, where you'll hear the most popular episodes from the previous season. What does it mean to be “double minded? The Strong's Concordance defines it as “two spirited,” “TWO” as in number. It goes on to define it as “wavering, doubting, and uncertain.” We're going back and forth on an issue in our opinion, our purpose, or both. This phrase only appears twice in the New Testament, and both times are in the book of James. Listen to the bottom line from James 1:8: "A double minded man is unstable in all his ways." Granted, this verse was speaking about asking God for wisdom without wavering, but it applies to any area where we're wavering. Being double minded is uncomfortable on purpose. It's an helpful way to live. Let's consider four ways to stop this confusing habit.
