In this reaction video, James Lasher from Charisma Media shares a clip from Dr. Ron Kenoly's praise and worship set. During the song, Dr. Kenoly stops to address the congregation about properly worshipping God with reverence and focus. He submits to the pastor's authority and encourages putting away distractions like phones. Dr. Kenoly teaches that true intimacy with God requires undivided attention. James analyzes Dr. Kenoly's example of Christian submission and priorities for praise and worship. This mini-sermon challenges believers to seriously engage with God's presence and let the Holy Spirit lead without limits on time or agenda. 0:00 Intro 5:00 Middle 11:00 Wrapup

Multi-instrumentalist Louis Cato has had a lot on his plate since taking over as bandleader for Jon Batiste on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in late 2022, but has been enjoying every minute of it. "I feel like I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be, with exactly the people I'm supposed to be there with," he tells Cory on this episode of Wong Notes. Of course, given his role there is a fulltime gig, the release of his second solo album, Reflections, last August was kind of a big deal. Its music was largely inspired by things Cato was forced to confront when the pandemic hit, including "self-analysis, putting on the mask, the egotistical parts of attraction and love songs, and things of that nature," he shares.Early on in the conversation, Louis answers Cory's question about how his approach to chord voicings is so different from the norm. A lot of it comes from his childhood influence of Ron Kenoly's praise and worship music, featuring Abe Laboriel Sr. on bass. His first guitar was from a yard sale and had just four strings, and his experience learning Laboriel's bass lines on it still informs how he approaches voice leading on the guitar today. There was also his mother, the pianist, from whom he absorbed into his guitar methods the piano style of playing octaves in the left hand and triads in the right. After Louis shares about what makes his creativity tick as a multi-instrumentalist, he and Cory get into the meat of the biggest mistakes a guitar player can make. A lot of it, for Cato, has to do a lack of dynamics and inflection, or playing 10 notes where you should just play two, he says. Towards the end of the ep, Louis hops on a drumset in the room to illustrate how drummers can also create a "jerky" beat if they don't stick with just straight or just swingin'. There are so many times we mistake “greatness” for something that we as humans do and achieve instead of realizing what it really is; the “anointing” of the Holy Spirit on someone operating within their God-given gifting. In this episode, Gospel artist, songwriter, worship leader, and co-writer and performer of Rapha, Jason Clayborn, tells a story of his first encounter with “greatness” and how he learned that those who carry a higher calling on their life and submit to the will and authority of Jesus are able to carry his presence in the form of a Holy Spirit anointing. Once we recognize that all Christians carry some form of this, how do we reconcile our differences and how does this calling on our lives draw us closer to Jesus, while also introducing others to Jesus through us? These questions and more are touched on in this exciting podcast episode from this seasoned artist and worship leader in Jason. We're thrilled to have him as a guest and we encourage you to comment below, review our podcast, subscribe to our show, and please share our content as we believe this show is “anointed” with the purpose of equipping and building up those on worship teams and who volunteer in churches all over the world. - - - - - - Please subscribe to our social channels for more information and great content surrounding building a lifestyle of worship. Voices In My Head (The Rick Lee James Podcast) Episode 442: STEPHEN MCWHIRTER Acclaimed singer/songwriter and worship leader Stephen McWhirter and GRAMMY® and Stellar-nominated recording artist Jason Clayborn have joined forces for Highest Praise, a rousing celebration of soul-drenched worship bowing October 8 from Lula Street Records (Integrity Music). The nine-track live studio set pairs the duo's impassioned lead vocals with classic rock, Motown, Gospel, and contemporary worship moments.  Produced and co-written by McWhirter, Highest Praise also features eight selections co-penned by Clayborn. The title cut—a Stevie Wonder-meets-Humble Pie groove—is a joyful anthem crossing cultural and musical divides in unified worship. Additional highlights of Highest Praise include the Motown slow-burner “God Be Yourself,” a prayer which clings to His character even in the most difficult circumstances; the modern worship declaration of “Let There Be Love”; and “The Yes Song,” a resounding testament to the promises of God.  Highest Praise follows the duo's debut collaboration, McWhirter's 2020 Choir Sessions (feat. Jason Clayborn & The Atmosphere Changers). McWhirter and Clayborn also wrote and recorded the Christmas anthem “Born A King,” which was featured in last year's Christmas special for the blockbuster television series The Chosen.    Stephen McWhirter is a touring worship leader, producer, speaker and author whose powerful testimony of divine deliverance from addiction is the cornerstone of his ministry platform. En inglés es "The Battle is the Lord 's", interpretada por Ron Kenoly.========

Can you think of a time in your life where your peace and joy were more under attack? Everywhere we turn, we're faced with more chaos. While the media feeds on our innate desire for the negative, God is calling us to begin to think differently. Scripture says that the joy of the Lord is our strength. If we lose our joy, we lose our ability to fight. Maybe the reason some of us fail more often than we should is, we've lost our joy?   On this episode Pastor Randy reminds us that true joy is found in Jesus, and encourages us to choose joy, even in the midst of turmoil.    Resources used/referenced in the message:   'Righteousness, Peace, and Joy' (Ron Kenoly)  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5k8TVYJUjgA   'The 4:8 Principle' - Tommy Newberry

Born in Pativilca, Peru, 100 miles north of Lima, Alex Acuña was born into a musical family that inspired him and helped shape him as a musician. His father and five brothers were all musicians. Alex taught himself how to play the drums from the age of four. By the time Alex turned ten, he was already playing in local bands. As a teenager, he moved to Lima and became one of Peru's most accomplished session drummers, performing on many recording projects for artists, as well as film and television productions. In Lima, Alex also earned a glowing reputation for his live performances. It was with the Prado band that Alex first traveled to the United States. In 1965, Alex moved to Puerto Rico to work as a studio musician and play locally.
