This week we are thrilled to be joined on the show by country music recording artist Justin Adams. Country music singer and songwriter Justin Adams is a Bixby, Oklahoma native. He played football at the University of Northern Iowa and currently holds the school record with 54 consecutive games played, never missing a game. Upon graduation he moved back home to Oklahoma and it became clear that his drive to be a singer/songwriter would not be fulfilled there, and it was time to move to Nashville. So in the fall of 2010, knowing only one other person in the city, Justin packed his bags and headed for Music City. Since that time Justin has also gotten more serious about his time in the woods, and a huge part of that is living the #WildGameBased lifestyle! We had a blast talking with him about his music, his hunting, wild game cooking and more. Check this episode out...it's one you won't want to miss. This week we are joined by Jake Muise, CEO & Founder of Maui Nui Venison. Born and raised in Northern Canada, Jake followed his gut to Hawaiʻi for college as a D1 athlete. During his years at Mānoa, he was taken in by a Molokaʻi family which was where his relationship with Axis deer began—over holidays and summer breaks, alongside multi-generational subsistence hunters. Over the years, his fascination and respect for this animal grew and after founding a research-based non-profit, the Axis Deer Institute, he took on several projects managing Hawaiʻiʻs invasive ungulates. Maui Nui grew out of his passion to create a full-bodied solution that saw Hawaiʻiʻs deer as both a non-native species in need of active population management as well as an incredible food resource whose sustainability and viability needed to be ensured in the long term. For Jake, hunting and environmentalism in Hawaiʻi are inseparable parts of the same set of actions and concerns. In many ways Maui Nui is bridging the gap between how much of the world obtains meat...and the #WildGameBased lifestyle. A thoughtful, and scientific based approach to wild game management, food and protecting the delicate ecosystems of the beautiful Hawai'ian Islands. This week we spend some time around the virtual campfire, catching up, chatting and discussing a bit of what is going on in our world, as well as the outdoor world in general. Just a relaxing episode, focused on fun and fellowship.

"Just a Spike"..."Just a Jake"..."At Least it will eat good" How many times have you seen it? How many times have you done it? These phrases, used to preemptively deflect what the hunter fears may be heading his way, in the form of belittling or negative commentary from other hunters. The phrase is tied to these negative ideas that the animal you have taken may not live up to the ideals of what others consider a "trophy" This week Jeremiah & Tony discuss this problem, and why we feel so strongly that it needs to end, how supporting and encouraging other hunters needs to be higher on our list of "must dos" and why we, as hunters, should learn to revel in the successes of others, not only to be good friends and fellow hunters, but ultimately to protect the lifestyle we love.
SOCIAL MEDIA... in our modern world, it connects us all. In 2020, and especially during these times of "social distancing", it is one of the most popular ways for people to communicate, share ideas, express themselves and even run and promote a business. For hunters, and sportsmen, it is ALL of that, but it has also become a place of great censorship. This week we discuss the ways social media platforms have begun to single out hunters, shooters and sportsmen, monitoring and withholding their content. Through blocking of posts, obvious random removal of followers, throttling and restriction of content sharing, and even "ghosting" of content and creators, many platforms have made it difficult to operate as an outdoor company, participant and fan. As always, please be sure to let us know your thoughts on the show! Email us at Podcast@wildgamebased.com Please be sure to SUBSCRIBE, so you never miss an episode. Follow us on InstaGram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Tinder and more! Thanks again, and we hope you all have a great week! LET US KNOW YOUR THOUGHTS.... Has your own social media experience suffered due to any sort of censorship? Reach out on social media, or email and let us know!

This week we are joined by Pete Muller, Public Relations Manager for the NWTF (National Wild Turkey Federation. We have a great discussion on some of the ways that NWTF is working to keep in touch with it's members and donors through the use of online technology. With a mix of online fund raising, interactions and entertainment, they are keeping their members and fans engaged, and entertained during these trying times of isolation and quarantine. More important than their find raising is the fact that they are showing what a strong community of hunters and conservationists looks like. All of this great stuff is discussed, as well as just having a great time catching up with a great friend. Tune in to learn more, have a few laughs and join us around the virtual campfire telling stories. As always, please be sure to let us know your thoughts on the show!
