Today's guest is Kayla Satava.  Kayla is a dance instructor at the family-owned Prestige Ballroom Dancing Studio in Northeast Ohio. While she teaches all kinds of dance classes and programs, today we are talking about engaged couples getting ready for their first dance. When the DJ announces at your wedding, "The bride and groom will begin their lives together with their first dance," what will you do? Kayla does not want you to leave one of the most important parts of your special day to chance. This will be the first time all of your loved ones see you together on the dance floor as husband and wife. Kayla talks about practicing and preparing for this big moment. Kayla and her dad also teach a Marriage Enrichment Dance Program. A healthy and happy marriage requires trust, patience, and great communication skills, which are also needed to be a good social dancer. Many couples use dance lessons to reconnect with each other, and these classes are set up to do just that.   Prestige Ballroom Dancing Website: https://www.prestigeballroom.com/ Facebook (Hudson Studio): https://www.facebook.com/PrestigeBallroomHudson/ Facebook (North Canton Studio): https://www.facebook.com/NorthCantonBallroom For more on David Anderson or WeddingChaplain.com David Anderson's Linktree Profile The Wedding Chaplain Website Pick up a copy of David's Book, Before God and These Witnesses, today: https://www.amazon.com/Before-God-These-Witnesses-Community/dp/1662876270. This week, Julianne Hough joins Nikki & Artem to talk about her world away from the dance floor, her personal transformation, breakdancing at the Olympics, and her new book “Everything We Never Knew.” To kick things off, Nikki & Artem open up with his reaction to doing Savor in Chicago, his crossroads as he contemplates life after professional dancing, and Nikki ponders how things in her life would be different if she were allowed to try out for school plays as a kid.  Then Julianne Hough joins the conversation. From dance to acting to music and writing, she defies labels as she uniquely chronicles her awakening. She tells Nikki & Artem all about some tough times that guided her to a rebirth of her energy and purpose in all aspects of her life. Now, that revival is causing a metamorphosis of gratitude and personal development in the world around her.  This conversation is so important to Julianne that she declines a call from her brother Derek in the middle of the interview so that she can lock into Nikki & Artem as they talk about helping others redefine themselves, which is a process that Artem himself is going through and realizing that Dancing with the Stars isn't just about scores on the dance floor, but emotional and spiritual evolution.  To close out the conversation, Julianne also has a very strong reaction to dance finally being in the Olympics, the response to Australian breakdancer RayGun going viral for all the wrong reasons, and her hope for ballroom dancing to get a shot in the 2028 games in Los Angeles.  Follow Julianne on Instagram Order Julianne's new book Everything We Never Knew     Call Nikki & Brie at 833-GARCIA2 and leave a voicemail! Bryan and Artem will never be the same! The Moms Gone Wild Tour hit San Francisco, and the Garcia Twins definitely made an impact.  First Nikki & Brie hit the stage and to play some fun games with the audience and a round of Never Have I Ever and Nikki lets something slip about Brie and Bryan that comes up again later in the show. There's also an in depth conversation about which is more fun, Nikki Mode or Brie Mode and the audience definitely have strong opinions about that.  Then Bryan & Artem come out and Bryan has some corrections to make after listening backstage, Artem's just hoping he doesn't catch a stray in the conversation, but some things are inevitable when you're on stage in front of a live audience with Nikki & Brie.  The fellas find themselves in the hot seat when Nikki & Brie ask some unhinged questions that get some wild answers, and Bryan & Artem realize that they're annoyed by the same thing that both Nikki and Brie do. If this was a tag team title match, the guys would just be trying to get out in one piece.  The tables turn and Nikki competes against Brie in a game of Who Knows Artem Better? Bryan hosts this remarkable game show that pits sisters versus sister and see which one's been paying attention when they play a brand new game to see who knows more about Artem's life with topics that cover language, geography, family, and more! And the people get what the people want: Bryan Brains is back! Can you believe we are more than halfway through the Rewatch Series for Season One of Dancing with the Stars? I mean time flies when you're having fun but in all honesty, season one of the show back in 2005 was only six weeks long believe it or not! Well that just means we are only a couple of weeks away until Cheryl can finally give us the behind the scenes tea and stories from when she joined the show in Season Two but until then…episode three of season one shakes the competition up with the underdogs slowly making their way up on the leaderboard to the front runners stumbling live during their Tango it was almost cringeworthy! For all of our die hard DWTS fans who love hearing Cheryl's recaps and her expertise when it comes to Ballroom Dancing, you won't want to miss this episode!  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This talk will consider how and why the frontispiece to this edition was different from those in earlier editions and place the image in relation to other images of ballroom dance bands before and after 1728. The music publisher John Playford built his success on the publication in 1651 of the first book to give tunes and dance instructions for country dances. He named it The English Dancing Master and in subsequent editions The Dancing Master. The frontispiece to the eighteenth and final edition of vol. 1 (c.1728) shows a trio of musicians – violin, oboe, bassoon – accompanying a group of country dancers in a ballroom. This talk will consider how and why the frontispiece to this edition was different from those in earlier editions and place the image in relation to other images of ballroom dance bands before and after 1728. The speakers will also examine Hogarth's print A Country Dance and what it tells us about decorum and licence in mid-18th century ballroom dancing. Jeremy Barlow specialises in English popular and dance music from 1550 to 1750, and also has a particular interest in the illustration of music and social dance over the centuries. He has lectured on a variety of subjects for organisations such as the The Arts Society, U3A, the Art Fund and National Trust. His books include The Enraged Musician: Hogarth's Musical Imagery (Ashgate) and The Cat & the Fiddle: Images of Musical Humour from the Middle Ages to Modern Times (Bodleian Library). The Bodleian Library has also published A Dance Through Time: Images of Western Social Dancing from the Middle Ages to Modern Times. Jeremy is well known for his work on Playford and has published an edition of Playford's dance tunes, The Complete Country Dance Tunes from Playford's Dancing Master (1651–ca.1728) (Faber Music). Alice Little is a Research Fellow at the Bate Collection of Musical Instruments, part of the Music Faculty of the University of Oxford. Her research focuses on collectors and collecting, particularly eighteenth-century tunebooks and their compilers, looking at what sources the collections were gathered from and what the selection of music says about the people and cultures that collected and used them.

And that the man is meant to be the frame for the picture of beauty as presented by the woman. Men do not define our beauty. Men do not define our value. Men do not define our worth. Men do not complete us. Dancing is an expression of how a man can showcase a woman's beauty. She is beautiful, whole and complete by herself. She doesn't need a man to feel her value, however, a man loves when she invites him into her life where he can showcase her beauty and her radiance. Ballroom dancing: Laurie Taylor explores its social history and sexual politics with Hilary French, Professor of Design Studies at Bath Spa University and author of a new book which charts the evolution of a form of dance which originated in upper class, private balls but became a mass, working class pastime in the early 20th century. From Hollywood movies to Mecca dance halls. What explains its rise and fall and rise again, in the current moment? They're joined by Vicki Harman, Reader in Sociology at University of Surrey, who unpacks the intriguing appeal of ballroom in the light of changing gender norms which question the notion that a man should 'lead'. Producer: Jayne Egerton
