Special guest :Kyle HaganIn our very first podcast, we talk about many a topic. We got about a hour of material, but had to cut it down to about half a hour due to some echos and other problems we had. Oh well, it can just get even greater from here.Questions, comments or any other good tidings, email us at CandBPodcast@Gmail.com

Saturday, February 23, 2008Today on Kick! we have a new logo, even less shite graphics, and even some interesting things to discuss. I review The Usual Suspects, criticize a mis-print or two by Pop Crunch and pitch a business idea to Vanessa Hudgens. I also thank Major Major for reading my shite on their podcast, although I chastise them for their complete lack of concern over my testicles.http://popcrunch.com/http://kickpodcast.blogspot.com/billy.smoke@gmail.com

Saturday, January 19th, 2008This week on Kick, we address the dumbest piece of MySpace spam ever; Cory the Legend, young party promoter extraordinaire; and delve into craptacular movies in which the protagonist is a homicidal sociopath, but he has adorable robots, so it's okay.Had to do some editing to appease YouTube, seeing as they're bastages who won't let me anyone go over ten minutes a video. I cannot promise to hold to a ten minute time limit all the time. if you are viewing this on YouTube, and wish to see more, please head on over to one of the sources listed below for this vlog/podcast:http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/kick/http://kickpodcast.blogspot.com/
Saturday, January 12th, 2008So yeah... I promised a Christmas episode... and failed. Promised a New Years Episode... and failed. And then I got sick. Other than the sick thing, my bad. But, honestly, I'm still getting into the swing of this whole podcasting/vlogging thing.Neways, today I discuss the "Indie Band of the Week" (or whatever) Willie Herath; my intense dislike for all things beginning with "Top" continuing on to a number, and finishing with something like "Movies" or "Albums". Especially when "of [insert year here]" comes after it. Also, English lessons, for the grammatically vocabularily challenged. Spelling is not on the menu, apologies.http://kickpodcast.blogspot.com/http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/Kick
Monday, December 17th 2007Hosting troubles have created some minor distribution problems for my humble podcast. You would have received an excellent, 37 minute addition to the library of Kick, if it weren't for my low budget hosting. So I rant about that. I also rant about internet trolls and rave about my favorite(favourite?) band ever: Major Majormajormajor.co.uk myspace.com/majormajorbandkickpodcast.blogspot.comjeffmurdoch.blogspot.com

In this episode, we look at how teaching the math concepts of area, perimeter, and/or scale drawing can be enhanced using a tool most of us have, Microsoft Word.Right-click here to download the MPEG-4 Video (24 MB)Click here to watch the Google Video full screen or click the play button below to watch now!
Most teachers I've talked to want to use Microsoft Excel with their students but don't know where to begin. This episode guides you through a simple but interesting project with Excel which involves doing a real-time survey, entering that data into Excel, and very quickly and easily turning that data into a pictograph.Click here for large Google Flash VideoRight-Click to download Episode 10MPEG-4 Version (320 x 240, 18.5MB)Windows Media Version (640 x 480, 21.6MB)
Some say that technology does not improve student learning, and have plenty of data to back it up. Others say the reason for that is that teachers aren't teaching differently with technology than they do in their classrooms. I say that if we want to improve learning with technology, we need to understand the learning process. Once we do, we'll be better able to apply those beliefs about how learning should happen to any technology that comes our way.In this episode, we'll look at 3 popular learning theories, and make connections to how technology can leverage the learning process. =Live and Direct episode #8 has arrived. It features background and critical analysis concerning the Federal Reserve System, why it is illegal and unconstitutional, and why it must be abolished. This episode runs for 55:33, and is 50.9MB. For your convenience, the times listed below in parentheses indicate the start and end of each segment. The song I played is Money For Nothing, by Dire Straits (it's between 01:12 and 09:12).I then played the intro to Aaron Russo's documentary "America: Freedom to Fascism" (09:48 to 13:30). "Freedom to Fascism" is a timely, shocking expose of the duplicitous and corrupt nature of not only the Federal Reserve, but also the IRS and the federal income tax. You may watch a low-quality version of it here on Google Video, see it in select theatres, rent it, or buy it directly from Aaron's site. Aaron also maintains a blog on the site with timely news, interviews, and commentary.Next up is a 2002 speech before Congress by Ron Paul, current Presidential hopeful and monetary-reform advocate (14:05 to 19:22). You may watch it on YouTube or read it at the House's web site as well.I followed Ron Paul's speech with another excerpt from "Freedom to Fascism" detailing the creation of the Federal Reserve, its unconstitutionality, and the ways in which it harms the American people and government (20:24 to 33:44). Lastly I read from Dr. Cleon W. Skousen's publication "The Urgent Need for a Comprehensive Monetary Reform". I have included it here on my site (in an easy to read and print PDF format) as the original at the National Center for Constitutional Studies seems to be defunct. You may check out the table of contents, the first section "Development of the United States Monetary System", the second section "How the Federal Reserve System Operates and Why it Has Failed", or the third and final section "Providing the United States with a Sound Money System". I retrieved the above linked pages with the help of the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine, mentioned in my show as a handy online research tool.I continue to delve into the conspiracies by a powerful few elite bent on controlling and dominating the rest of the people, aided by money-hungry politicians, complicit industries, and helped along here and there by a few sad historical accidents. Please stay tuned to Live and Direct for more provocative and imperative issues. Listen to WRFR locally in Midcoast Maine at 93.3 and 99.3FM, online, or subscribe to my podcast and listen at your convenience using your computer, iPod, or other MP3 player. As always, please email me with what's on your mind. It's a pleasure to produce this show, and I'd love your feedback.

Watch the video I've swung hi and low on the cure / notcure scale and on the who and/or what made my kid autistic scale. What I've come to realize that the only way to be at peace is to accept, which is not synonymous to giving up on someone.I'm using this as a preview before tomorrow's blogging about murder./hiatus complete
BC on Autism Episode 10: If I were a cartoon Watch the video The idea of simple, pointless cartoons as stress release has been percolating in my mind for some time now. The punchline, if it can be called such, is blatantly stolen from some forgotten cartoon. Either that, or I've deluded myself into thinking I saw it somewhere before. Meh.
Bartholomew Cubbins on RNA Episode 8: Current Papers - RNA Binding Sites, P-Bodies, and Retrotransposons Watch the video (pop) A rough look at the following papers:Virus-like particles of the Ty3 retrotransposon assemble in association with P-body components.andIntronic Binding Sites for hnRNP A/B and hnRNP F/H Proteins Stimulate Pre-mRNA Splicing.Kudos to PLoS and the Open Access option that allows the public real-time access of this great science.
Bartholomew Cubbins on RNA Episode 7: What Not To Do During a Group Meeting (mov) Watch the video (pops) A great example of what not to do during your group meeting presentation. Here we have exhibit A, the last slide of graduate student Y's great data-heavy presentation. And then the fun started. Why, oh why, did he chose to do this. And more importantly, why didn't he run it by me before doing it? Oh, who am I kidding, I would have encouraged it. meh.For a small file, check out:http://blip.tv/file/12335or if you like google:
