I'm joined by experts Kelly Guimpnt, Ben Roethjig, Jeff Gamet, and Marty Jencius, each bringing their insights and enthusiasm for all things Apple. We kick off the episode by discussing the current state of beta testing for iOS 18, noting its progression towards completion and the anticipated launch at the close of the month. Each panelist shares their experiences with the latest beta features, from enhanced customization options to the joys and quirks of the Music app updates. Our resident beta tester offers valuable tips, emphasizing the importance of providing feedback to developers during testing to ensure a smooth final rollout. As we transition into product speculation for the upcoming Apple event on September 9, we explore the likely unveilings, including the much-anticipated iPhone 16 lineup, Apple Watch updates, and possibly new AirPods. We engage in a lively discussion on what we hope to see from the Apple event, with varying opinions on whether the iPhone mini will be making a return and what exciting features the Apple Watch might include this year. In addition to our product predictions, we also address the introduction of Bluetooth 6, discussing its potential impact on Apple's precision-finding capabilities and how it might revolutionize the way users interact with their devices. Kelly raises a crucial point about the slow adoption of new technologies and how it might affect users in the short term. The episode takes a lighter turn when we explore a fascinating new use case for AirTags, where a California woman creatively employed the device to track down package thieves. This leads to an in-depth conversation on the innovative ways users are harnessing technology to tackle everyday problems, as we reminisce about similar past endeavors that blend technology with a bit of humor and cleverness. As we wrap up, the camaraderie and shared excitement for what's to come in Apple's world shine through. We encourage listeners to stay tuned for more detailed analyses of the Apple event and the impact of new technology on our daily lives in future episodes. Starting with what might be the most basic editing question -- Why do cuts work? -- Murch treats the reader to a wonderful ride through the aesthetics and practical concerns of cutting film. Along the way, he offers his unique insights on such subjects as continuity and discontinuity in editing, dreaming, and reality; criteria for a good cut; the blink of the eye as an emotional cue; digital editing; and much more. In this second edition, Murch reconsiders and completely revises his popular first edition's lengthy meditation on digital editing (which accounts for a third of the book's pages) in light of the technological changes that have taken place in the six years since its publication.Get a copy herePodcast Rewind:Jan. 2024 - Ep. 24…The Making Of is published by Michael Valinsky. If you'd like to be considered as a guest, or to promote your products to over 10K top film & TV production pros reading this newsletter, email us: mvalinsky@me.com Get full access to The Making Of at themakingof.substack.com/subscribe

Hello and welcome episode 47 of The DJ B-12 Deep Acid House Experience. I hope you are all doing well out there and I appreciate your support and listenership. This show is for the month of September 2023, and it is dedicated in memory of Ainsley Talbot, my 10-month 3-week-old kitten who passed on August 29, 2023. She had a terrible condition that left her disabled after she was about 2-3 months old. Although she was born normal with her surviving sister, Arianna and her brother, Jackson, it seems, her mother, Gracie (who was a stray cat I took in 3 weeks before they were born), contracted a virus while she was pregnant, which resulted in only Ainsley developing a condition that caused her cerebral cortex to not form properly. It started out with her motor skills diminishing and eventually led to her being only able to lay on her side and needing help doing everything. She was a true fighter, and she will always be my little hero and my best friend, but her broken little body just had enough. She was the most beautiful, precious, and loving soul I've ever known. As you can imagine, this was a bittersweet episode for me to do with losing her so young, which is one of the reasons it took me so long to get out, but I wanted to get a fresh mix out with new tunes that I could also dedicate to her. Although this set was worked out ahead of her passing, some of the tracks took on a special meaning because of lyrics and titles. RIP Ainsley girl. I will love you forever and always, until we meet again, my angel. Ainsley Talbot October 3, 2022 - August 29, 2023.This mix has 76 tracks and a runtime of 2 hours and 38 minutes. This set contains the best in house, breaks, progressive, melodic house and techno, techno, deep house, acid, piano house, vocal house, uplifting house and more. Apple Interactive Television Box (1994) Before Apple TV, there was "The Apple Interactive Television Box", or ITV, also internally identified as STB (set-top box). Learn more about it, and check the photos and vid of ours (we have one!) ... Wikipedia - The Apple Interactive Television Box (AITB) is a television set-top box developed by Apple Computer in partnership with a number of global telecommunications firms, including British Telecom and Belgacom. Prototypes of the unit were deployed at large test markets in parts of the United States and Europe in 1994 and 1995, but the product was canceled shortly thereafter, and was never mass-produced or marketed. The Apple Interactive Television Box is based upon the Macintosh Quadra 605 or LC 475. Because the box was never marketed, not all specifications have been stated by Apple. It supports MPEG-2 Transport containing ISO11172 (MPEG-1) bit streams, Apple Desktop Bus, RF in and out, S-Video out, RCA audiovideo out, RJ-45 connector for either E1 data stream on PAL devices or T1 data stream on NTSC devices, serial port, and HDI-30 SCSI.[2] Apple intended to offer the AITB with a matching black ADB mouse, keyboard, Apple 300e CD-ROM drive, StyleWriter printer, and one of several styles of remote controls. The hard drive contains parts of a regular North American Mac OS 7.1.1 with Finder, several sockets for network connection protocols, and customized MPEG1 decoding components for the QuickTime Player software. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Interactive_Television_Box https://wiki.preterhuman.net/Apple_Interactive_Television_Box https://pippin.fandom.com/wiki/Apple_Interactive_Television_Box #MARCHintosh Visit the Adafruit shop online - http://www.adafruit.com ----------------------------------------- LIVE CHAT IS HERE! http://adafru.it/discord Adafruit on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/adafruit Subscribe to Adafruit on YouTube: http://adafru.it/subscribe New tutorials on the Adafruit Learning System: http://learn.adafruit.com/ ----------------------------------------- #adafruit #apple
