*This episode was originally released on 4/26/23 on Patreon. It was on February 9, 1960,  when a milkman stopped and laid on his horn in the middle of a bridge over Turkey Creek, near Morrison, Colorado. Some asshole was blocking the road with his station wagon. But after several honks, the milkman decided to get out and check on the driver.  But wait, there was no driver! WTF! - the station wagon was empty, with the engine running, and the radio  playing.  The milkman, had a bad feeling about this…it just didn't smell right, ya know so he reported it to the police, who quickly figured out the owner of the car was none other than, Heir to, what would eventually become the 4th largest Brewing company in the US, ADOLPH COORS, III !!!   HelloFresh.com/creeper50  Codeword: creeper50   EVERYTHING TRUE CRIME GUYS:   https://linktr.ee/Truecrimeguysproductions   OhMyGaia.com Code: Creeper     https://www.tonicvibes.com Code: Creeper     Sources: https://www.fbi.gov/image-repository/aotm-march-2017-coors-kidnapping-ransom-note.jpg https://longreads.com/2017/09/26/the-death-of-an-heir-adolph-coors-iii-and-the-murder-that-rocked-an-american-brewing-dynasty/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHlaw1O3TMw https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/coors-brewery-heir-is-kidnapped https://www.wikiwand.com/en/Adolph_Coors_III https://cdm17197.contentdm.oclc.org/digital/collection/collguides/id/113

In February 1960, Adolph makes his way to the Coors Brewery and stops to be a good Samaritan to a fellow driver when he is ambushed and things take a tragic turn. Our podcast of the week is Crime Scenes and Cupcakes hosted by MaryAnne! Check out her trailer at the beginning of the episode, and add her podcast to your playlist if you want more true crime in your life. Adolph Coors III was in an enviable position. His grandfather had founded the Coors Brewing company, and by 1960, Adolph Coors III was the company's CEO. He had a wife and four children. He was one of Colorado's most influential business people. But that also made him a target. So when Adolph's car was discovered abandoned on Turkey Creek Bridge, just two miles from his home, the FBI quickly stepped in. Then Brandi tells us about the disappearance of Gail Katz. When Gail met Robert Bierenbaum, she thought she'd found the perfect guy. He was studying to become a doctor. He spoke multiple languages. He even flew planes. Their dates were incredibly romantic. But over time, Gail came to see that Robert was far from perfect. And now for a note about our process. For each episode, Kristin reads a bunch of articles, then spits them back out in her very limited vocabulary. Brandi copies and pastes from the best sources on the web. And sometimes Wikipedia. (No shade, Wikipedia. We love you.) We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the real experts who covered these cases. In this episode, Kristin pulled from: “The case of Adolph Coors” by Mara Bovsun for The New York Daily News “On the run from one murder, he accidentally committed another – and joined the FBI's “Most Wanted” list,” by Cheryl Eddy for Gizmodo “How an escaped convict terrorized the Coors beer dynasty,” by Seth Ferranti for Vice Forensic Files “Bitter Brew” “A look back at the Coors kidnapping case,” FBI.gov “Court upholds conviction of Joseph Corbett,” Associated Press “Corbett faces life in prison, accepts fate in cold silence,” Associated Press “Corbett attorneys complete defense,” by James D. Harpster for The Daily Sentinel “Jury starts study of Coors evidence,” Associated Press “Anatomy of a murder,” by Robert Sanchez for Denver's Mile High Magazine In this episode, Brandi pulled from: “Do No Harm” episode 20/20 “Ex-surgeon confesses he took wife's 'body out of the airplane over the ocean'” by Joseph Rhee, Keren Schiffman, Gerry Wagschal, and Lauren Effron, ABC News “Gail Katz” chillingcrimes.com “Gail Katz Bierenbaum Murder: Her Cause of Death” by Alyssa Choiniere, heavy.com “Ex-Plastic Surgeon Finally Admits To Murdering Wife At 20-Year Parole Hearing: Report” by Megan Carpentier, oxygen.com “People v. Director and Columbine High School graduate Laura Farber made a very personal look at living with the 1999 massacre, featuring a handful of her classmates, and Toby is back to talk about the emotional terrain it covers, how it chose its subjects, and the ways survivors live with trauma. In the Cold Case section, my attempt to impose a Colorado theme backfired somewhat with a Most Notorious episode from last year on the kidnapping of Coors heir Adolph "Ad" Coors III, and we tried to diagnose what it was about this story and this interview-podcast style that didn't quite match up for a good listen. I'll fire myself for this "Rocky Mountain low" pun, but in the meantime, open a cold one and enjoy The Blotter Presents, Episode 093. Support the pod/site on Patreon! On this week's episode hosts Cassie and Daniel discuss a surprise visit from Cassie's sister and niece.  Then they discuss, in detail, a series of texts and pictures Cassie sent Daniel of a bartender at a happy hour that had the most magnificent ass.  Daniel tells Cassie about his business trip to Charleston and he details all the amazing food he had while he was  there. The hosts crack open two different bottles of Chablis from France. Cassie sticks in her newly adopted home state of Colorado for the historic case of the botched kidnapping of Adolph Coors III.  Daniel heads to Asia and Europe for the case of everyone's favorite cannibal not named Hannibal: the twisty case of Issei Sagawa.
