Our poor record at Stamford Bridge continued on Thursday evening, as a second-half header from Enzo Fernandez consigned us to defeat in west London. Going into the game with just one win in Chelsea's enclosure during the Premier League era, we were unable to improve on that form and suffered a fourth straight reverse against the Blues, Fernandez scoring the only goal of the game five minutes after the interval. Pape Matar Sarr had a goal ruled out by VAR shortly after coming off the bench in the 64th minute, adjudged to have committed a foul in the build-up on Chelsea midfielder Moses Caicedo, who himself had one disallowed by the video assistant for offside, while Heung-Min Son was denied a late equaliser by a save from Robert Sanchez. Arsenal edged past Chelsea with a hard-fought 1-0 victory in a not so exciting London derby! This win not only solidifies our grip on second place but extends our unbeaten run against the Blues to seven games. It was Mikel Merino who stole the headlines, flicking in Martin Ødegaard's pinpoint corner with a deft header to give Arsenal the lead. The goal marked an end to our long drought from corners and showcased the precision of our set-piece routines. Chelsea tried to respond, but Arsenal's defense, led by Jurrien Timber and Gabriel Magalhães, stood firm, keeping their attackers at bay. The second half saw fewer chances but plenty of intensity, with yellow cards flying around in a physical contest. Merino came close to doubling his tally with a well-struck volley, but Robert Sanchez denied him brilliantly. Chelsea had moments of pressure, but Arsenal's composure and tactical discipline ensured the lead was never truly threatened. This victory is another step forward in our Premier League campaign, as we continue to build momentum heading into the season's final stretch. Tune in for more insights and hear my thoughts on Merino, Timber, and Ødegaard—three players who were pivotal in securing this win. We break for international lull before we head into the long stretch. Hoping for some more good news…until then —Up The Arsenal!

Father and son goalkeepers. How many can you name? Let us know any who pop out via all the usual channels. In addition to that, plenty of goalkeeping analysis to dive into this week. Joe Hart and Shay Given both stood up for stoppers as they ran the rule over performances from Dean Henderson, Ederson and David Raya against Ipswich, Nottingham Forest and Manchester United respectively. Meanwhile, Robert Sanchez returned for Chelsea, Robin Olsen kept his first Premier League clean sheet since New Year's Day of 2023 and Kepa committed the cardinal sin of conceding one of "those" penalties. In the EFL, Save of the Weekend contenders go to George Wickens, Jay Lynch and Paul Farman.

If errors leading to goals are a clear marker of a goalkeeper's game, Robert Sanchez would be in the lower echelons of those performing in this season's Premier League. The much-maligned Chelsea stopper was at fault for Man City's winner on Saturday, so we look at whether the negative hype is fair or perhaps somewhat exaggerated based on his actions aside from goals conceded. Elsewhere, Thomas Kaminski stopped a rot of 13 successive penalties conceded by Luton, Hull bagged a third consecutive clean sheet and victory on the road for the first time since March 2011, and Murphy Cooper produced an audacious piece of skill for Stevenage in League One.
The FC crew react to Tottenham's latest defeat to Leicester City and discuss the report that Spurs will stick with Ange Postecoglou amid calls for his sacking. What is a howler? That is the question. 'Twas a word which cropped up a fair few times over the weekend. Andre Onana, Robert Sanchez and James Beadle just three of the suspects suspected to have committed the most catastrophic of calamities if reports were to be believed. In reality, two were errors and one shouldn't have even been discussed as anything other than how it would have and has since been discussed in goalkeeping circles. We delve into all three, in addition to the heroics of James Trafford's two penalty saves in Burnley's goalless draw at home to Sunderland on Friday night.

Happy Holidays from the Always Bayern Chelsea crew! Welcome to the IMPROVED Always Bayern Chelsea show complete with introduction music for the first team ever. (As long as we can clear that copyright). This is a big one, Bayern winning in the Bundesliga, and Chelsea winning/drawing the UEFA Conference League/English Premiere League. We kick things off by talking about Bayern Munich's potentially best performance of the season in their final match of the hinrunde in their massive 5-1 win over RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga on 12/19. We take a moment to mention the tragedy that occurred as the match was playing out in Germany at the Magdeburg Christmas Market. And as usual look at lineups, coaching tactics, individual player performances, and all the match highlights before handing out our match awards. Jamal Musiala, Konrad Laimer, Joshua Kimmich, Leroy Sane, and Alphonso Davies all scored for Bayern Munich while Michael Olise, Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies, and Joshua Kimmich all provided assists. Benjamin Sesko scored Leipzigs only goal assisted by Lois Openda. What's next for Bayern Munich heading into the winter pause before the next match against M'gladbach? There's lots of contract situations on-going as well as players that need to get healthy. We certainly won't be taking a pause this winter. We move over to Chelsea to discuss both the 5-1 victory over Shamrock Rovers in the Conference League on 12/19 as well as the draw verus Everton in the EPL on 12/22. As always we review lineups, tactics, key moments in the matches, and big player performances. And of course deciding on match awards to dole out. In Chelsea's major Conference League win they had a hat trick from Marc Guiu as well as goals from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, and Marc Cucurella with assists from Christopher Nkunku and Noni Madueke. Their frustrating effort against Everton was goal-less but Robert Sanchez provided multiple impressive and important saves to salvage a point for Chelsea. There's no winter break over in England and Chelsea now plays against Fulham this week on 12/26. ABC has plenty in store for you under the tree this holiday season. Videos, comprehensive hinrunde reviews, Bundesliga reviews, and a preview of what's to come for a very special event happening this summer over in Cincinnati if you care to wager a guess. James is joined by Chelsea fan Gary Mantle and Brentford fan Tom Medd to discuss the latest at their clubs ahead of Sunday's Gameweek 16 meeting at Stamford Bridge. Are Chelsea now serious title contenders following Sunday's victory at White Hart Lane or are there too many concerns around aspects of their defence? Can Brentford turn any of their incredible home form into success on the road or is the disparity in home v away results explained away by the quality of opponents faced? Plus, FPL discussion includes whether man of the moment Cole Palmer should be captained this weekend, the appeal of enabler Enzo Fernandez, if Robert Sanchez and Levi Colwill are safe from further rotation and whether it's time to finally say goodbye for FPL managers who have held Brentford's players such as Mark Flekken, Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa. Sometimes you witness a passage of play in goalkeeping that simply makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand to attention. This weekend, Robert Sanchez and Matz Sels contributed to a "save off" that earned a point for their respective sides Chelsea and Nottingham Forest. Incredible goalkeeping in an incredible moment. For Liverpool, Czech 23-year-old Vitezslav Jaros made his Premier League debut when coming on as a second-half replacement for Alisson in the win over Crystal Palace. He did well, reopening the discussion on whether young or old is suited better to that No3 spot. Established Goalkeeper Coach, David Rouse - in for Richard Lee this week - gives his opinion on the above, as well as casting an eye over the best action from the EFL. Paul Nardi continues to enhance his reputation at QPR, Illan Meslier is the subject of 'Keeper Capers for the freak goal which saw Sunderland scrape a draw with Leeds and Connor Ripley stakes his claim for Performance of the Weekend thanks to his starring role in Port Vale's victory at Notts County. Lastly, we touch on the return of David de Gea. The Spaniard saved two penalties in Fiorentina's triumph over AC Milan, although remarkably two less than Paulo Gazzaniga managed in a week thanks to heroics in Girona's games with Feyenoord and Athletic Bilbao.

It's Friday, and we're rounding up the news of the week! First, Denver Police are banning food trucks in LoDo on the weekends in an effort to curb late-night violence, and the mayor has a new $500-million plan to fix downtown. But will these moves make the city center any better? Then, the brand new Ford Amphitheater in Colorado Springs just opened in August, and the noise complaints are piling up — is the venue exceeding decibel limits or are the neighbors just grouchy? Producer Paul Karolyi and host Bree Davies are joined by former journalist and local history aficionado David Gilbert to discuss these topics plus the downfall of the Brown Palace, the city's top sandwich artists, and more wins and fails of the week. We talked about an excellent piece on the past and present of downtown by Robert Sanchez for 5280 Magazine. David mentioned a talk he's doing next year for the Englewood Historical Society. How do you feel about downtown? Are you hopeful? Do you like the mayor's plans? We want to hear your stories and hot takes! Only two games into the Premier League campaign and we already have a Save of the Season contender. David Raya earned three points for Arsenal with his stop from Ollie Watkins at Villa Park. Not only did it banish the demons from the title-denting defeat of last term, but it served as yet another reminder that the Spaniard is at the very top of his game right now. Two contests come in the form of 'Keeper Capers and Top Tips Over throughout all four tiers, both of which we saw on multiple occasions over the weekend. Jordan Pickford and Aro Muric guilty of the former in the top-flight, but Muric also involved in the latter with a marvellous stop from Erling Haaland as Ipswich fell to Man City. Robert Sanchez raised his stock with Chelsea fans thanks to quick thinking and excellent execution in helping to set up Cole Palmer for the Blues' second in the 6-2 romp of Wolves, and Neto seemed to be a counterattack-thwarting target for Newcastle as they held Bournemouth at the Vitality. Penalty stops from Joe Whitworth and Luke McGee should be noted, as should Conor Hazard's MOM performance for Plymouth in their draw at QPR.
