Barret Brown Returns (March 2025)After a series of escapades both online and off that brought him in and out of 4chan forums, the halls of power, heroin addiction, and federal prison, Barrett Brown is a free man. He was arrested for his part in an attempt to catalog, interpret, and disseminate top-secret documents exposed in a security lapse by the intelligence contractor Stratfor in 2011. An influential journalist who is also active in the hacktivist collective Anonymous, Brown recounts exploits from a life shaped by an often self-destructive drive to speak truth to power. With inimitable wit and style, palpable anger and conviction, he exposes the incompetence and injustices that plague media and politics, reflects on the successes and failures of the transparency movement, and shows the way forward in harnessing digital communication tools for collective action.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-opperman-report--1198501/support.

Barrett Brown - My Glorious Defeats: Hacktivist, Narcissist, Anonymous: A Memoir4 days agoBarrett Brown is an American journalist, essayist, activist and former associate of Anonymous. In 2010, he founded Project PM, a group that used a wiki to analyze leaks concerning the military-industrial complex. It was classified a "criminal organization" by the Department of Justice. In late 2020, Brown restarted Project PM.After a series of escapades both online and off that brought him in and out of 4chan forums, the halls of power, heroin addiction, and federal prison, Barrett Brown is a free man. He was arrested for his part in an attempt to catalog, interpret, and disseminate top-secret documents exposed in a security lapse by the intelligence contractor Stratfor in 2011. With inimitable wit and style, palpable anger and conviction, he exposes the incompetence and injustices that plague media and politics, reflects on the successes and failures of the transparency movement, and shows the way forward in harnessing digital communication tools for collective action. But My Glorious Defeats is more than just the tale of the clever and hilarious Brown; it's also a rigorously researched dissection of our decaying institutions and of human nature itself. As Brown makes clear, institutions are made of people—people with personal ambitions and personal vices—and it is people, just like him, just like us, who hold power. As optimistic as it is heartbreaking, My Glorious Defeats is an entertaining and illuminating manual for insurgency in the information age.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-opperman-report--1198501/support.

How does someone introduce Barrett Brown? That's a really tough one because the personal, professional, and political stories play off each other in numerous ways. I would have to say that first of all, Barrett Brown is one of too few to survive a very intense era of anti-authoritarian activism and state repression. In addition, Brown is a survivor of the innumerable disappointments that I feel have had a big impact on the way things are now. He is someone who has comprehended the contemporary moment and has participated in its unfolding with the skills at his disposal and he is someone who has paid a big price for taking those risks. Naturally, his recently released book, "My Glorious Defeats: Hacktivist, Narcissist, Anonymous: A Memoir of Barrett Brown" is an excellent insight into what I just said and though I'm only on Chapter 5, it has been an enjoyable read. One of the things that Barrett is well-know for is his relationship with Anonymous at the peak of their Hacktivist period. That's what we're going to be focusing on, along with where Anonymous has gone from there. READ (or LISTEN) to Barrett's new book, "My Glorious Defests: Hacktivist, Narcissist, Anonymous: A Memoir":https://a.co/d/4tIPo6lWikipedia Page for Barrett Brown:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barrett_BrownThe New York Time "This Hacker's Story Is Deranged, Hyperbolic and True":https://archive.ph/h6zfONew York Mag "The Ballad of Barrett Brown":https://nymag.com/intelligencer/article/the-ballad-of-barrett-brown.htmlDON'T FORGET TO LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, AND SHARE!Become a Patreon Patron:https://www.patreon.com/cyberdandySupport the Show.

EPISODE 1665: In this KEEN ON show, Andrew talks to Robert D. Kaplan, author of THE LOOM OF TIME, about why Singapore offers a palatable political model for countries in the "Greater Middle East" ROBERT D. KAPLAN is the bestselling author of twenty-two books on foreign affairs and travel translated into many languages, including The Loom of Time, The Tragic Mind, Adriatic, The Good American, The Coming Anarchy, Balkan Ghosts, Asia's Cauldron, and The Revenge of Geography. He holds the Robert Strausz-Hupé Chair in Geopolitics at the Foreign Policy Research Institute. For three decades he reported on foreign affairs for The Atlantic. A senior adviser at Eurasia Group, he was chief geopolitical analyst at Stratfor, a visiting professor at the United States Naval Academy, a senior fellow at the Center for a New American Security, and a member of both the Pentagon's Defense Policy Board and the U. S. Navy's Executive Panel. Foreign Policy magazine twice named him one of the world's “Top 100 Global Thinkers.” New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman has called Kaplan among the four “most widely read” authors defining the post-Cold War (along with Stanford Professor Francis Fukuyama, Yale Professor Paul Kennedy, and the late Harvard Professor Samuel Huntington). Kaplan's article, “The Coming Anarchy,” published in the February, 1994 Atlantic Monthly, about how population rise, ethnic and sectarian strife, disease, urbanization, and resource depletion is undermining the political fabric of the planet, was hotly debated in foreign-language translations around the world. So was his December, 1997 Atlantic cover story, “Was Democracy Just A Moment?” That piece argued that the democracy now spreading around the world would not necessarily lead to more stability. According to U. S. News & World Report, “President Clinton was so impressed with Kaplan, he ordered an interagency study of these issues, and it agreed with Kaplan's conclusions.” In the 1980s, Kaplan was the first American writer to warn in print about a future war in the Balkans. Balkan Ghosts was chosen by The New York Times Book Review as one of the “best books” of 1993. The Arabists, The Ends of the Earth, An Empire Wilderness, Eastward to Tartary, and Warrior Politics were all chosen by The New York Times as “notable” books of the year. An Empire Wilderness was chosen by The Washington Post and The Los Angeles Times as one of the best books of 1998. The Wall Street Journal named The Arabists one of the five best books ever written about America's historical involvement in the Middle East. The Financial Times named Asia's Cauldron one of the ten best political books of 2014. Besides The Atlantic, Kaplan's essays have appeared on the editorial pages of The New York Times, The Washington Post, the Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Los Angeles Times, as well as in all the major foreign affairs journals, including cover stories in Foreign Affairs. He has been a consultant to the U. S. Army's Special Forces Regiment, the U. S. Air Force, and the U. S. Marines. Named as one of the "100 most connected men" by GQ magazine, Andrew Keen is amongst the world's best known broadcasters and commentators. In addition to presenting KEEN ON, he is the host of the long-running How To Fix Democracy show. He is also the author of four prescient books about digital technology: CULT OF THE AMATEUR, DIGITAL VERTIGO, THE INTERNET IS NOT THE ANSWER and HOW TO FIX THE FUTURE. In this week's episode, Dan welcomes back four-time Stansberry Investor Hour veteran Marko Papic. Currently, the geopolitics and macroeconomics specialist serves as a partner and the chief strategist of asset manager Clocktower Group. Before that, Marko was the senior vice president and chief strategist on geopolitical strategy at global investment research firm BCA Research for nearly a decade. He has also worked at Stratfor, one of the world's top geopolitical-intelligence platforms. Marko last joined us in late January, shortly before the Russia-Ukraine war exploded. Today, he's turning his attention to someone "much more relevant and powerful than Vlad[imir Putin]"... chairman of the U.S. Federal Reserve, Jerome Powell. We realize the topic of our central bank's next steps might seem worn out. After all, it has been splashed across the top news headlines daily for most of 2022. But the Fed's actions are massively influencing the global financial system right now. As Marko says... Literally everything that is going on in the world is kind of irrelevant if J. Powell continues to be very hawkish. When the Fed decides it has had enough, everything else can start mattering again. Until then, it's really just all about them. Marko explains the Fed setup that could set off "the most calamitous recession in the history of the United States," and he shares his preferred indicators for a recession. He also discusses the Paul Volcker versus Arthur Burns debate... two former Fed chairmen who defined their careers by tackling inflation. Will Powell follow in Burns' dovish footsteps or take a more uncompromising stance like Volcker did? Finally, Marko highlights a future threat to the markets: the 2024 presidential election. As for which side he's on, he elicits some chuckles from Dan with his candor... I don't care, right or left... I bathe myself in nihilist indifference. My job is to forecast. It doesn't matter.

DEAGLE is a high regarded global government & intelligence contractor. They specialize in logistics. This is a professional organization helping many entities plan budgeting and spending based on their accurate predictions. Many acronyms are ahead to show who they are tied too. NSA, NATO, OECD, RDPA, the UN, the World Bank, and Stratfor (which is connected to CIA). These documents aren't real easy to find. The ones I used from 2015 to 2025, I couldn't recover the page. But you can find Deagle's population predictions using BRAVE web browser. Don't use standard web browsers if you're interested. No matter which predictive scenario you find, they all say massive population decrease by 2025. So many dead people you won't want to believe it. Or is this a combination of death and sterilization? Much lower birth rates. Hmmm, another thought to ponder. These Deagle predictions for world wide population decrease got even creepier when I compared to CDC data for shots administered. The numbers so closely correspond you can't help but draw some comparison. Ill share all these numbers with you also. You will see what I see. Dr. Robert Malone (creator of MRNA tech) and Dr. Peter McCullough (world renowned cardiovascular Dr) both agree there is lots of side effects from shots. Beyond what's happening & being covered up. Both these Dr.s and many others predict symptoms 1 month, 6 months, up to 10 years out! Ill tell you what I found. It's not all gloom & doom. You can reverse many of the issues. But again this just lines up more coincidental evidence to match the Deagle reports. One more note. Scott Davison, the CEO of One America Life Insurance, founded in 1877 and worth over 100 billion. Has made a profound statement. Deaths are up 40% for ages 18-64! This is across the board with all insurance companies. Where do we point the finger for all this? The numbers say Vid has a 99.9% survival rate world wide. So my guess is these life insurance companies are going to have a lawsuit against pharmaceutical manufactures. Just a guess, in all this fantasy land we live in right now. Sorry for the bad news. There is hope though! People will start waking up. Standing up for there rights, and against the propaganda and lies. That is why I bring you this. Learn what I've learned. Share it with those who will listen. After graduating from Texas A&M University and a stint as a mountaineer and snowboard instructor, Colby spent a few years in Europe doing various things for various people in numerous countries. After Europe, Colby decided to go into education to understand why he was such a piss poor student, culminating in Mayan Hope, a nonprofit special education school in Nebaj, Guatemala. During his time in Guatemala he wrote the book, "The Vagabond Gypsy and His Beast of Burden" After a few years in Central America doing various things for various people, Colby worked as an adventure guide throughout Latin America, before returning to the States to project manage backcountry construction ops in National Parks and Forests. Colby then went to China. He spent…you guessed it, culminating in managing investigations into counterfeit products made in China that harmed Americans, namely pharmaceuticals. After leaving China, Colby went back to Austin, Texas to work for as an Analyst for Stratfor, a geopolitical think tank. Then, it was off to Yellowknife Canada to run logistics for an adventure company. While there, Colby was asked to join Pinkerton's Global Risk Group as Director on Intelligence, before also taking over operations in Washington in order to integrate intelligence into all Pinkerton operations. Barrett Lancaster Brown (born 14 August 1981) is an American journalist, essayist, activist and former associate of Anonymous. In 2010, he founded Project PM, a group that used a wiki to analyze leaks concerning the military-industrial complex, which was labeled a "criminal organization" by the Department of Justice.[1][2][3] In late 2020, Brown restarted Project PM.[4] In January 2015, Brown was sentenced to 63 months in federal prison for the crimes of accessory after the fact, obstruction of justice, and threatening a federal officer stemming from the FBI's investigation into the 2012 Stratfor email leak. Prosecutors had previously brought other charges associated with sharing a link to the leaked Stratfor data, but those charges were dropped in 2014.[5][6][7][8] As part of his sentence, Brown was also required to pay almost $900,000 to Stratfor in restitution.[9] In November 2020, Brown claimed asylum in the UK on the basis that he had been persecuted in the US for his journalism.[4] Brown says in 2021 he overheard officers discussing sealed charges in the US against him when he was arrested in London for allegedly overstaying his visa and incitement offenses.[4][10]

He describes the complex web of media outlets and personalities, hackers, and intelligence community assets connected directly or indirectly with Thiel — a powerful, enormously well-resourced figure aiming to undermine the last remnants of democracy and the open society. Barrett Brown is a writer and activist. His work has appeared in Vanity Fair, The Guardian, The Intercept, Huffington Post, New York Press, Skeptic, The Daily Beast, Al Jazeera, and other outlets. In 2009, he founded Project PM, a “distributed think tank” later repurposed to oversee a crowdsourced investigation into private intelligence contractors and little-known surveillance/disinformation methodologies. In 2011 and 2012, he worked with Anonymous on campaigns involving the Tunisian revolution, state misconduct, and other issues. In 2012, Brown was arrested and later sentenced to four years in federal prison on charges stemming from his investigations into HBGary, Stratfor, Palantir, Archimedes, and other firms that would later be implicated in election interference operations in the US and UK. While imprisoned, he won the National Magazine Award and other journalism and writing honors for his column, “The Barrett Brown Review of Arts and Letters and Prison.” Upon his release in late 2016, he established the non-profit Pursuance to develop a platform for mass civic engagement and to promote his doctrine of non-institutional “process democracy.” His third book, ‘My Glorious Defeats,' is available for pre-order from Farrar, Straus and Giroux.
