Scott and Luke return to September 2015 and the formal arrival of Android 6.0, or as some of you may recall, Marshmallow. What was new for Android with this release? In today's podcast we learn that crooks are interested in home IoT. Twitter outages aren't just you. Android Marshmallow won't be getting a patch, just a replacement. WannaCry observers focus on North Korea as a possible source. Palo Alto Networks' Rick Howard has research on Shamoon. Joyce Brocaglia from Alta Associates and the Executive Women's Forum shares results from the 2017 Women in Cyber Security Survey. And no one, yet, knows who the ShadowBrokers are with any certainty. (Or it they do, they're not talking.)

Kenneth, Kevin and Len are joined by Rebecca Franks to discuss the world of mobile development for Android, Google's developer platform and her recent Google Developer Expert accolade. We take a dive into all things Android, starting with the Play Store and the impact that's made on the app ecosystem before going into the more technical details of building and testing Android apps and the tooling behind it. We speak through some of the nuances of building against Android's APIs and look at alternatives to Java and the ability to interop with native code through Android's NDK.
Brianna and Simone are joined by Yasmine Evjen to talk about the Nexus 6P and Android Marshmallow, Brianna’s involvement in the SXSW disaster, The New York Times; Google Cardboard program, and Christina's trip to the afterlife.
With Joshua Vergara and Joe Hindy sitting this one out, Jonathan Feist leads while Andrew Grush and Nirave Gondhia spend a good amount of time figuring out if OnePlus has a good marketing strategy with the Two, or if they are just a little bonkers. Android Marshmallow continues to roll out, with LG announcing they'll be the first non-Nexus devices to get the update. With all of these new and exciting devices on the market, last generation devices are starting to see some amazing price tags, listen on to find out if we think the Nexus 6 is still a good buy. (My apologies this time folks, the audio quality on this was sub-par, we've since publicly shamed the one that caused the issues and have repaired the problem for next time.) Enjoy AA Podcast #034. The Android Authority Podcast - discussing topics in Android every week.
The full panel gets together this week to mull over what was a pretty slow week in Android news - Joe had just put out a great review of Android Marshmallow, so that serves as our platform for the majority of the episode. Jonathan Feist, Andrew Grush, Nirave Gondhia, Joe Hindy, and host Joshua Vergara talk video games, homescreen setups, and even cars for a minute because the Marshmallow conversation just naturally veers in that direction. We know that doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but you guys should know by now that the digressions come hard and fast for the AA Podcast crew! But in light of a slow Android news week, we had to talk about the week's biggest news - the return of Windows Mobile. Though Nokia as a company is, for the most part, fully absorbed into Microsoft and virtually unrecognizable, the new Lumia devices did actually get us a little excited for a platform that simply doesn't get a lot of play compared to Android and iOS. Will we dive into the Lumias and do a few off-platform reviews? Only time will tell, but until then we have this conversation about the new announcements.
