Hey kids! What a wonderful time to be alive! It's Christmas Season and all is well with the world! This is a classic from the good old days of The Toys R Us Report. Originally recorded back in 2016 it's as relevant now as it was then. Let's see what we had to say at the time... Thanks for sharing the most wonderful time of the year with us here up on Jupiter's 3rd Largest Moon, Callisto. In the spirit of the holidays our pal Iceberg 13 put together an hour long mix of some great X-Mas tunes along with some fun commercials and other cool X-Mas stuff. It's not to be missed. Then at the end of the show me and Iceberg finish off by talking about the true meaning of X-Mas. A good time was had by all This is a real def hour of music and other offbeat shenanigans sure to entertain the family during some Christmas time activity such as Gingerbread house building or whatnot. Share it with the your peeps. They'll thank you.
Today's guest is Carla Hall. Carla is a chef, cookbook author, TV personality, and all-around culinary force whose career has taken her from the runways of Paris to the sets of “Top Chef,” “The Chew,” and more. She's the star and executive producer of the Emmy Award–winning series “Chasing Flavor,” a co-mentor on the new show, “Next Level Baker,” and the author of several books, including “Carla Hall's Soul Food” and two children's books, “Carla Hall and the Christmas Cornbread” and “Carla and the Tin Can Cake Party.”Carla joins host Jessie Sheehan to talk about her life and career—from her childhood memories of her grandmother's five-flavor pound cake, to the years she spent in Paris as a model discovering her love for cooking, to the moment “Top Chef” changed everything. Then, Carla walks Jessie through her Gingerbread Cake With Snow Sugar, a deeply spiced, ultra-moist loaf that uses the reverse-creaming method for a very tender crumb. She explains why hot water is the secret ingredient, how to make “snow sugar” that won't melt into the cake, and why “sawing” is the only proper way to slice a loaf cake.Click here for Carla's Gingerbread Cake with Snow Sugar recipe.Thank you to Diamond Nuts, California Prunes, and King Arthur Baking for their support. En: In the middle of the winter landscape, where the snow covered the branches of the tallar like powdered sugar, lay a spiritual retreat. En: Inside the center, where the warmth from the fireplace created an inviting atmosphere, there was a faint scent of ginger and cinnamon. En: This was combined with the light from the candles that flickered softly in the corners. En: Elsa, an enthusiastic woman in her thirties, had come here with a clear goal: to learn how to build the perfect gingerbread house. En: Christmas was near, and she dreamed of impressing her family with her new skills. En: But a small mishap in the schedule would soon change her plans. En: When Elsa stepped into the room, she expected to see tables filled with gingerbread pieces and icing. En: Instead, she discovered that the floor was adorned with yoga mats and participants dressed in comfortable clothing. En: Past the confusion, she realized she had ended up in a yoga class instead of a baking lesson. En: The room was quiet, except for the soft murmur of participants breathing deeply.Sv: "Var är pepparkakorna?"En: "Where are the gingerbread cookies?"Sv: tänkte Elsa, men bestämde sig för att stanna.En: Elsa thought, but decided to stay.Sv: Kanske kunde en stunds avkoppling göra henne gott mitt i all julstress.En: Perhaps some relaxation could do her good amidst all the Christmas stress. En: She unrolled a makeshift mat and tried to follow along. En: As the class began with some basic breathing exercises, Elsa tried to understand what "the tree" and "the dog" had to do with Christmas crafts.Sv: Snart kom det förvirrande ögonblicket när hon ska försöka sig på "trädet".En: Soon came the confusing moment when she was to attempt "the tree."Sv: Hon förlorade balansen i sitt försök och lyckades riva ner flera yogamattor och kuddar.En: She lost her balance in the attempt and managed to knock over several yoga mats and cushions. En: The room filled with laughter instead of the previous meditative silence. En: Ingrid, the instructor, was a kind and calm soul. En: She approached Elsa with a smile and said, "No worries!Sv: Det här händer ibland.En: This happens sometimes.Sv: Låt mig hjälpa dig upp."En: Let me help you up."Sv: Elsa log, lite generad men tacksam för den avslappnade stämningen.En: Elsa smiled, a little embarrassed but grateful for the relaxed atmosphere.Sv: Efter klassen, när alla började samla ihop sina saker, gick Ingrid fram till Elsa.En: After the class, when everyone began to gather their belongings, Ingrid approached Elsa. I heard you were looking for a gingerbread workshop instead of yoga."Sv: Hon skrattade lätt.En: She laughed lightly.Sv: "Vill du ha en privat lektion?En: "Would you like a private lesson?Sv: Jag är en ganska bra bagare också."En: I'm a pretty good baker too."Sv: Elsa sken upp.En: Elsa beamed.Sv: "Det skulle jag verkligen vilja!En: "I would really like that!"Sv: ", svarade hon med entusiasm.En: she replied enthusiastically. En: Thus, Elsa not only learned how to best build a gingerbread house but also discovered a new appreciation for yoga and the peace it brought. En: She went home with both a gingerbread model and a new friendship. En: Elsa realized that life could be a series of unexpected joys and that there was something beautiful in embracing the unknown. En: And so, that wintry Christmas, Elsa not only remembered the traditions she loved but also the LJCSC's expert baker Dr. Kiersten Riedler takes us into the cozy world of holiday baking, sharing her tips and tricks for making the perfect gingerbread cookies. From rolling the dough just the right thickness to using fresh, fragrant spices, she reveals the details that make these cookies both delicious and festive.Along the way, Dr. Riedler draws fun parallels between baking and her work in facial plastic surgery, highlighting how precision, planning, and creativity are key in both. She also shares the joy—and gentle pressure—of living up to friends and family expectations during the holidays.Dr. Riedler's gingerbread cookies recipe:Ingredients:3 cups all-purpose flour¾ cup packed dark brown sugar1 Tbsp ground cinnamon1 Tbsp ground ginger¾ tsp baking soda½ tsp ground cloves½ tsp salt12 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted and cooled¾ cup molasses2 Tbsp milkInstructions:Process flour, sugar, cinnamon, ginger, baking soda, cloves, and salt in food processor until combined, about 10 seconds. Add melted butter, molasses, and milk and process until soft dough forms and no streaks of flour remain, about 20 seconds, scraping down sides of bowl as needed.Spray counter or silicone pastry mat lightly with baking spray with flour, transfer dough to counter, and knead until dough forms cohesive ball, about 20 seconds. Divide dough in half. Roll dough to ¼-inch thickness. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or up to 24 hours.Heat oven to 350 degrees. Use cookie cutter to cut out cookies. Space cookies ¾ inch apart on rimmed baking sheets lined with parchment paper. Repeat rolling and cutting steps with dough scraps.Bake until cookies are puffy and just set around edges, 9 to 11 minutes, rotating sheets halfway through baking. Let cookies cool on sheets for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire rack and let cool completely before decorating and serving.LinksSee some of Dr. Riedler's gorgeous Christmas cookies and watch her bake themListen to LJCSC's festive holiday playlist to set the perfect mood while you bake, making your kitchen feel as magical as the season itself.Book a free 15-to-30-minute complimentary phone call with Dr. Riedler's patient coordinatorMeet San Diego facial plastic surgeon Dr. Kiersten RiedlerLearn from the talented plastic surgeons inside La Jolla Cosmetic Surgery Centre, the 12x winner of the San Diego's Best Union-Tribune Readers Poll, global winner of the 2020 MyFaceMyBody Best Cosmetic/Plastic Surgery Practice, and the 2025 winner of Best Cosmetic Surgery Group in San Diego Magazine's Best of San Diego Awards.Join hostess Monique Ramsey as she takes you inside LJCSC, where dreams become real. Gingerbread is synonymous with the Christmas season — from the spices to gingerbread houses and gingerbread men. An 18th-century recipe — from Hannah Glasse in The Art of Cookery Made Plain and Simple in 1796 — advises bakers to: Take three pounds of flour, one pound of butter rubbed in very fine, two ounces of ginger beat fine, one large nutmeg grated, then take a pound of treacle, a quarter of a pint of cream, make them warm together, and make up the bread stiff; roll it out … Here's a 21st-century version of this holiday favorite, from Colonial Williamsburg....Article Link

From gingerbread displays and Santa meet-and-greets to new international park news and popcorn bucket previews, it was a packed pre-holiday show. Gingerbread Houses Across the Resorts Gingerbread galore across the resorts. The star this week is the 25th Anniversary Gingerbread Carousel at Disney's Beach Club Resort. The themed horses, spinning motion, and detailed craftwork make it a must-see for holiday touring. Other classic displays have also returned, including the contemporary holiday display at Disney's Contemporary Resort, and smaller but charming builds at BoardWalk and Animal Kingdom Lodge. Where to Find Santa at Walt Disney World Next, we covered one of the most important holiday questions: Where can you find Santa this year? You can spot him at Magic Kingdom near Town Square, in EPCOT during Festival of the Holidays, and along Hollywood Boulevard at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Animal Kingdom features Santa on festive flotillas, and Disney Springs includes Santa stops as part of the Christmas Tree Stroll. With so many options, it's easier than ever to add Santa to your vacation plans. A New Store Opens at Disney Springs A brand-new store has opened at Disney Springs, adding to the district's holiday excitement. The new shop features seasonal merchandise, gift items, and several exclusive items available only at the Springs location, making it a perfect stop during the Christmas Tree Stroll. Disney Adventure Park Paris Announces Opening Date Disney shared big news for Disneyland Paris: Disney Adventure Park will officially open on March 29, 2026. The new park will debut alongside World of Frozen, bringing Arendelle to life in Paris. This major expansion marks a new era for Disneyland Paris and gives guests even more reasons to plan a European Disney vacation. New Animatronic Olaf and Smugglers Run Details Disney also released a new episode of We Call It Imagineering, showcasing a brand-new animatronic Olaf. The figure features smooth movement, expressive animation, and advanced storytelling capability. The same video revealed new details about the updated Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, which will feature upgraded visuals and refreshed story elements. Universal Kids World Coming to Texas Greg highlighted news from Universal, including fresh updates on Universal Kids World, the new family-focused park planned for Texas. The project continues to grow, and this week's details gave us a clearer picture of what guests can expect when the park opens. Holiday Popcorn Bucket Bucket-List It wouldn't be a holiday episode without popcorn news. We shared Greg's popcorn bucket bucket-list, highlighting the must-have buckets inside and outside the Disney Parks. New seasonal designs, movie tie-ins, and special releases make this one of the most exciting popcorn seasons yet. Disney at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade We previewed what Disney has planned for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, including character appearances, themed floats, and tie-ins to upcoming releases. For many families, this parade marks the official start of the Christmas season. Muppet Magnet #66 To close out the show, we added Muppet Magnet #66 to the ever-growing collection. Welcome to Spitting Nonsense—where two self-proclaimed amateurs, Jasmine and Zach, chat about all things nerdy (and plenty that's not). None of this is fact, but it's definitely our brand of nonsense! We're still recording regularly—no promises on hitting exact days anymore—but you can always count on us for plenty of off-the-wall commentary. And now, you can leave comments on Spotify! Tell us what's on your mind; we see every comment and might even respond on the show. Thanks for listening, and enjoy the nonsense!
In this Agony Aunties episode, we address a listener's question on how to talk to children about parental separation. Their answer covers the importance of having the initial conversation together as a family, being honest and age-appropriate, avoiding blame, and reassuring children about the changes and constants in their lives. Key points include practicing the conversation in advance, maintaining a unified narrative, and providing ongoing support. Resources like Cafcass, Gingerbread, and Family Lives are suggested for further support. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
