In this episode of the Angular Master Podcast, recorded live in Las Vegas at the Creator Studio POD in the GDE and Certified Lounge @ Google NEXT 2026, I sit down with one of the most recognizable and inspiring voices in the developer community — Stephen Fluin.Stephen is a Product & DevRel Wizard, Executive Technologist, long-time Google Developer Expert, and someone who has influenced thousands of developers around the world through technology, community, and education. This conversation is all about something that's becoming more and more visible in modern software development: “vibe coding.”But what does that actually mean?Is it just another trend fueled by AI hype — or are we witnessing a fundamental shift in how developers build software, collaborate, and think creatively? We dive deep into the intersection of Angular, AI tools, creativity, developer flow, and modern engineering culture.Together, we explore:how AI is changing the emotional and creative side of programmingwhether developers are moving from rigid structure toward more intuitive workflowshow Angular fits into this new world of AI-assisted developmentthe balance between creative freedom and maintainable architectureand whether future developers will behave more like engineers… or creatorsStephen also shares practical insights from working with teams, experimenting with AI-assisted workflows, and observing how developer culture is evolving in real time. This is not just a technical conversation. It's a discussion about the future identity of developers, creativity in engineering, and how AI might fundamentally reshape the way we experience software development itself. And on a personal note — this episode means a lot to me, because Stephen was one of the people who helped me become a Google Developer Expert many years ago.If you're interested in Angular, AI, developer experience, or simply where our industry is heading next — this episode is for you.

In this episode, I was joined by Debbie O'Brien to chat about Playwright - Microsoft's open-source end-to-end testing framework. I'm a huge fan of Playwright, so I was really excited to have this chat with Debbie. We covered a lot of ground, including features such as Codegen, Trace Viewer, and UI Mode. We also spoke a lot about AI - including the exciting Playwright MCP Server which enables AI agents to automate browser interactions!Debbie has been an integral part of Playwright as a Principal Program Manager at Microsoft and has led the Playwright community, shaping much of what Playwright has become today - driving a lot of the features mentioned above. She's also a Google Developer Expert in web technologies, Nuxt Ambassador, and is a former Microsoft Most Valuable Professional in developer technologies, Media Developer Expert and GitHub star alumni. For a full list of show notes, or to add comments - please see the website here
End-to-end testing has traditionally been a source of frustration for developers - flaky tests, complex setup, and poor debugging experiences have made it a necessary evil rather than a productive part of the development workflow. With the rise of modern testing frameworks like Playwright, developers are discovering that E2E testing can actually be reliable, fast, and even enjoyable. The integration of AI capabilities is further revolutionizing how we write, maintain, and debug tests. In this episode we welcome Google Developer Expert and Principal Technical PM at Microsoft, Debbie O'Brien, to explore the current state of Playwright and its evolving ecosystem. Between juggling twins under 2, Debbie shares insights on what makes Playwright different, the latest features transforming the testing landscape, and how AI is being integrated to make testing more intelligent and efficient. You can expect to learn why Playwright is becoming the go-to choice for modern web testing and how to leverage its powerful features in your projects.More about DebbieX:@debs_obrienLinkedIn: Debbie O'Brien https://dev.to/debs_obrien/letting-playwright-mcp-explore-your-site-and-write-your-tests-mf1https://debbie.codes/ Follow us onX: The Angular Plus ShowBluesky: @theangularplusshow.bsky.social The Angular Plus Show is a part of ng-conf. ng-conf is a multi-day Angular conference focused on delivering the highest quality training in the Angular JavaScript framework. Client rendered web apps are not generally not indexable by Google Bot and others for extracting on-page content and optimizations for ranking high in the search engine results page. The result is that many organizations use technologies like WordPress, Astro, and others, for a marketing presence on the web, avoiding frameworks like Angular and React due to this limtation. With the maturing of Server-Side Rendering (SSR) in Angular, more developers are building both their interactive web apps and their more traditionally static market web properties with Angular (and React with RSC). In this episode we welcome Google Developer Expert, and open source contributor, Jeff Whelpley to break it all down. You can expect to learn how Angular with SSR is an excellent technical choice for optimizing your web app for Search Engine Optimization.More about Jeff Bluesky: @jeffwhelpley.devX: @jeffwhelpleyLinkedIn: Jeff Whelpley Follow us onX: The Angular Plus ShowBluesky: @theangularplusshow.bsky.social The Angular Plus Show is a part of ng-conf. ng-conf is a multi-day Angular conference focused on delivering the highest quality training in the Angular JavaScript framework.
