In 2015, Apple debuted the iPhone 6S, which employed a default encryption system preventing both Apple and government authorities from accessing data stored on the device. But since then, global governments have questioned whether Apple's desire to protect customer privacy interferes with public health and safety. Harvard Business School senior lecturer Henry McGee and professor Nien-hê Hsieh discuss how Apple CEO Tim Cook manages this tension.

WWDC Wish List for iOS/Mac OS With WWDC coming up on June 6 in the US, here is my wish list for iOS/iPad OS, and Mac OS. iOS/iPad OS Keep supported devices from iPhone 6S. App Library choose to have alphabetical listing rather than just caategory's. Ability to select what is being displayed on the status line. Interactive widgets: eg music, weather etc. Split view on iPhone. Completely turn on or off Wifi/bt. Stand-alone AirPods app to update AirPods. Weather app for iPad OS. Mac OS More iOS apps transferred over to M1 Macs: eg Weather app. Remote app which works with voiceOver. Keyboard shortcut to answer/hang up calls in FaceTime. Something I Accidentally Discovered Last week I had an introduction to Karate which I officially started yesterday as we go to air. I wanted to learn the main Japanese Karate terms so thought to give Apple's Translation app a go: what a mess, VoiceOver spoke over the translation and only translated one way, plus a very annoying app layout screen. Google Translate was recommended to me, and what a joy to use: Easy to setup/use, and VO did not speak over the translation in =either way. My Next Discovery of the PS5 In setting up the PS5 last week, I forgot to mention that if you don't do anything for a few minutes after switching on your new PS5, the screen reader will turn on automatically and off you go. Before ‘diving' into this week's Gundam discussion – yes, it's still a pun – Sean talks about finally upgrading to a new smartphone (after being on the iPhone 6S for over half the life of this show), asks Jonathan why he's inexplicably watching through all the Star Trek movies including the very bad ones, and Jonathan gives impressions of the excellent indie adventure Tunic on Xbox. Then it's time to talk about Gundam Build Divers Re:RISE, the most pleasantly surprising qualitative whiplash we've ever seen. Following the franchise low-point of Gundam Build Divers, Re:RISE is a stunningly smart, soulful, exciting, and all-around excellent anime that is nearly as great as the original show is bad. Following a new group of characters – the BUILD DiVERS, distinguished by one lowercase ‘i' – Re:RISE immediately distinguishes itself with a deeply human and compelling protagonist, Hiroto Kuga, and a fantastic group of supporting characters, all on a wild adventure that combines the video game isekai tropes the first show tried but failed at, a more traditional fantasy isekai journey to another world, and even dashes of other non-Build Gundam shows with heroes, villains, and major life-and-death stakes. It's the last full Gundam show made to date, and we couldn't ask for much more of the series that catches this podcast up to the franchise's present day. Trump's Truth Disaster Chad Dixon Another entertaining and informative show gentleman. Some feedback for Gareth regarding my mobile gaming experiences. I had a ZX Spectrum back in the early 80's and loved playing those cassette-loaded games. However I never was a fan of pc or console gaming and hence never used independent joysticks. My first foray into gaming on-the-go was when I got a PSP. I think SSX on Tour Snowboarding was my favourite as it had a brilliant soundtrack. Since then I've done all my gaming exclusively on smartphones because I always have one with me and the recent models' processors can handle the intense graphics. I have been known to be playing Call of Duty Mobile for three hours straight on my Samsung Galaxy S20FE and not suffer any RSI. Matthew Jones on the Yamaha Organ Very enjoyable show. The Yamaha organ part was a nice trip down memory lane too and it's amazing how far that particular tech has come. Despite not being able to play properly, I had Keyboards, Drum machines, an Atari 1040ste and lots of midi cables in my failed attempts of Bedroom music production! I'd guess about £1,500 of kit, and this was considered not even entry level, probably more like "toy" level. Fast forward to 2022, and a £50 (used) iPhone 6S and Garageband can do a way better job than all my old kit did! Look on YouTube at a channel called iSongs. It blew my mind and shows quite how powerful this tech has become. (I recommend Sweet Home Alabama

On this episode of Rhodes to Success, I interview Mimika Cooney, who is known as the Go-to Video Marketing Expert. She is a TV host, interviewer, published author, and videographer. Mimika is an international award-winning photographer, public speaker, and online marketing strategist. She has worked as a television broadcaster, and now hosts her own web TV show and helps entrepreneurs and experts harness the power of video marketing to build business brands through her online course. During the show, we discuss video and authenticity, how to make your videos look good, video platforms, and creating content. Key Lessons Learned: Video & Authenticity Video is the next best thing to meeting someone in person. You can't fake it on video. Communication is mostly non-verbal. People will relate to you more if you aren't always super perfect and put together. People can't last in business and life pretending to be someone they aren't. You can mess up, and it makes you endearing. Video 78% of website traffic is now video related. People aren't necessarily interested in what you look like, but are more interested in the content. Don't get stuck in your head and kill the idea before you have time to birth it. Video is cheap, so start where you are and improve as you go. Test a few platforms and see what is best for you. Periscope This can be done live on your iPhone. At most, you need a tripod and microphone. This is live TV with audience interaction. This is connected to your Twitter account. Blab This is like Google Hangouts and Periscope. Live to air, but viewable post-broadcast. This can be consistent and a weekly appointment. Production quality is low. Uploadable to YouTube and WordPress. Making Your Videos Look Good Sound Ensure the sound is good. This can even trump the video quality. Buy a lavalier microphone on Amazon for around $18 that can attach to your shirt. Lighting Uneven light in videos crates distrust with the audience. Test if your lighting is good, and monitor whether you can see the color of your eyes. Face the light and make sure you have even light. Avoid backlighting. Camera The camera quality on the iPhone 6S is equivalent to a 4K. 4K is 4,000 pixels. A lot of movies are recorded on 4K cameras. Pixels are the tiny dots on a screen, and the more dots you have the clearer the image. Creating content Don't just upload to YouTube and link on Facebook, as your reach will be low. Upload directly to Facebook, and use the native feature on your business page. Short videos of 2-3 minutes get more engagement and are seen more than longer videos. People don't care about you and your story; they care about what's in it for them. Get the best content out in the beginning in order to hook the viewer.
