I recently did a Google search for popular songs about Loneliness. Apparantly loneliness is nothing new. You might remember Roy Orbison's “Only the Lonely”, Gilbert O'Sullivan's “Alone Again, Naturally,” and Al Green's “Tired Of Being Alone.” One website features a list of one-hundred and twelve new songs about loneliness. New research from the Barna Institute tells us that three out of ten Americans report feeling lonely at least once each day. Our kids are certainly not immune to loneliness. Ironically, loneliness has been on the rise in spite of the availability of twenty-four-seven connections through smartphones and social media. What all of us need are real flesh and blood relationships to remedy our loneliness. When you are with your family, put your phones down and turn off the TV. Make sure you are connecting week to week with your church family. And, be sure your kids are involved in a healthy church youth group with peers and significant adults.

He’s someone that I’ve had weekends away with prior so we’d already gotten over any first meeting awkwardness and such. We decided to visit a city that would be new to both of us, yet offer plenty to do within it so no car necessary.. no pre-planning tickets, etc. Instead, most of the time spent outside of the hotel room was spent just deciding, on the go, what we should do or see. Casual and easy. We ended up visiting an indoor market with almost everything you can imagine inside of it. While browsing, he kept finding the quirkiest toys and doing his “hey, hey, look at THIS one, look!” stage whisper at me. It was endearing and beyond cute because it was all about him trying to be adorable (and we both knew it). At the bookstore, I requested that he pick out a colouring book — NOT one of those mindful meditation ones, but something ridiculous with trains and firetrucks, plus a set of crayons. I do give him credit for trying to stick to the ones that wouldn’t make him blush when it was time to pay for it. I also give him props for not doing what I think most would have done in his shoes and say “the nephew is sure gonna love this one..” or whatnot. Ha. Maybe he thought that I’d out him in front of the cashier? When we returned to the room, he assumed we’d return to our frolicking fun with ropes and grown-up toys. Instead, I encouraged (ha) him to stretch out on his tummy and colour in a page. There’s something about colouring that can be incredibly relaxing. I’m sure there’s the odd person out there that dislikes it, but many adults haven’t tried it in ages. In his over-worked, over-stressed, and over-stretched life it was unlikely he would ever have given ANY time to it. When it became an order, he allowed himself that time. It opened up a new way of connecting to each other. It also provided me with a way to be close between sessions. I could guilt-free read the paper on Sunday morning while he kept busy with crayons. We both felt completely intertwined yet still had a recovery space. Similar to bondage, when the bottom has all movement restricted, blindfold on and music (or white noise) playing in headphones — I’m usually touching that person or close enough they can move a foot or hand slightly and touch me… but I’m also using that time to recover or plan or whatever it is that can only happen when you’re able to “stop” that way. The inner child session is one that blends together useful work with playful imagination. You may find yourself understanding others in a new way. You may do work that allows you to feel truly connected with your entire self. For some listeners, bits of the session may be useful, yet for you it is mostly about recognizing that inner child. Or, hey, being able to let out that inner child and enjoy things like the upcoming Bedtime Story early release. I’m still trying to find just the right music for that one! It’s a whimsical fun story told in a gentle, light-hearted way. If the response is positive, it will be the first of a few that work inside of that theme. Speaking of playful things, if you’re good at puzzles… you need to listen to S Invitation (a voice in the background session) and check out the Patreon forum conversation. Apparantly, it helps to be a little tipsy. Who knew? Finally, this session is unlikely to create strong, negative feelings. You are guided into this session with the knowledge that any memories or thoughts you bring up are unable to hurt you. Like all of my sessions, use your judgement if it is an appropriate one for you. Do the tunnel of light or castle keep session to set your safeword, knowing that you can use either of these at any time, in any session. Jan Green,  HomeSmart Elite Group, has been a realtor since 2002.  Due to the housing market change, Jan switched her focus to energy efficiency in real estate in 2007, earning both EcoBroker & NAR GREEN designations thereafter.  According to Jan, the interesting paradox about green homes is that you keep hearing more about “green products” but people are interested only when the subject is brought up. Apparantly people do not necessarily think about “green homes” per se.   Another paradox is that while Arizona is number one in building energy efficient homes in the country, the general public may not be so keen.  The question of whether the green homes would sell for more and faster is really on the realtors ability to market.  Jan has seen cases where the green features are not promoted correctly; therefore, did not benefit in the sales.  , it is really the realtors job to understand those features and more importantly the “benefits” to help the buyers recognize the values of green homes. Jan consults her clients who are investors and/or homeowners to convert old building into “greener” properties without adding much extra costs.   Green homes are becoming more of the norm as many states and municipalities adopt new building codes such as in Califonia’s new code as of 202 requiring all newly built home to be net-zero or net-zero ready. It is even more important for realtors to understand those features and more importantly the “benefits” to help the buyers recognize the values. Oh sure, first another blizzard, and now I almost get sucked into a nut website scam?  Set BS detectors to stun! EP22 - The Gacillia Nut Website Scam I almost got taken by a scammer this week. I was approached, through text (?) by a gentleman who wanted a website built for his computer based in Washington DC. I do some work with a company out of Boston, and also have had past clients out east, so this wasn't totally out of left field. But something just didnt sound right. Below is the text sent to me... "I have small scale business which i want to turn into large scale business now it located in and the company is based on importing and exporting of Agriculture products such as Kola Nut, Gacillia Nut and Cocoa so i need a best of the best layout design for it. Can you handle that for me ?. so i need you to check out this site but i need something more perfect than this if its possible .http://www.agroamerica.com.... the site would only be informational, so i need you to give me an estimate based on the site i gave you to check out, the estimate should include hosting and i want the same page as the site i gave you to check out and i have a private project consultant, he has the text content and the logos for the site." James claimed to be hearing impared, so no phone conversation could be used. Now I know why. An internet search for Gacilla Nut revealed this scam IMMEDIATELY, right down to the exact copy of the contact. Apparantly the next step will be to say the credit card won't go through, and to provide him with a checking account number so he can transfer money. I think we all know what happens next.  So, I've deleted the invoice, and will kill the contract with James. If anything else happens, I'll report back to you here. In other news: Fitbit bought Pebble watches. I've also heard that Pebble is now dead... I hope this isn't true. My first smartwatch was a Pebble and I loved it. I updated three sites to Wordpress 4.7, which came out yesterday, with no issues. Hopefully this trend continues! Don’t forget to send us any suggestions for apps to review or people to interview. There were some crazy stories in the press this week... and a lot of them had to do with theme parks. For instance... Disney decided to drop a decades old rule that Walt Disney himself instated.  Starting next month, workers will be allowed to sport beards and goatees. Hipsters rejoice! Thorpe Park in England said that their new coaster "The Swarm" was apparently having some trouble making its height clearances during testing.  Apparantly, some of the test mannequins came back without their limbs. I like this story for a lot of reasons, but mostly because it gave the the opportunity to post a still from one of my favorite 80's movies ever - mannequin.  Emmy was one hot Egyptian, man. The guys also take an opportunity to preview upcoming shows and contests!  You won't believe what is in store for February!
