Together, they discuss the intricate process of addressing this revelation privately within the family and through therapy, emphasizing the importance of bringing authentic and vulnerable experiences to light to help others navigate their challenges. As Monique recounts cherished memories like learning to drive with her dad, she reflects on the complexity of relationships that transcend biological ties. Listen to how she navigated the emotional terrain over 16 years, culminating in a paternity test that confirmed the truth just before Mother's Day. The conversation also touches on themes of grief and the evolution of relationships. Monique's story offers a powerful reminder of the resilience of the human spirit and the capacity for love and connection. Finally, the episode dives into the emotional landscape of family reconciliation and the journey of self-healing. The Best of Season 2 InterviewsIn today's episode, we're taking a dive into the best of Season 2 episodes, "interview style." So what we're going to do is dive into specific episodes and pull out the nuggets and gems and put them altogether for this episode. We're going to start off with Episode Seven from season two chasing your dreams while in a relationship where I interview husband and wife Charles and Ashley Jenkins. And then we're going to Episode Eight where I interviewed Dr. Kia Monique Jones about Mentorship in the Black Community, and then we're going to rewind just a little bit when I interviewed Ashley Jenkins on episode three, where we discuss blended families. And last but not least, we're going to end today's episode with the interview that I started the year off with, with my husband Corey in episode one with relationship goals for the new year. I really hope you guys enjoy this compilation that I'm putting together from the best moments of season two, "interview style!"[02:51] Ep. 7: Chasing Your Dreams While in a Relationship: Interview with Ashley and Charles Jenkins[03:19] I want to know tell us how you guys met. How did you guys become Charles and Ashley Jenkins?Well, a lot of people don't know, we actually met online dating app. Yes, we met on a dating app. For myself, I had got on the app because I was engaged before I met my husband. And I had gotten out of a really bad relationship. So I just was like, I'm just going to, you know, get on the dating app, meet friends type of thing. And so I met my husband .[04:30] Do you guys encourage it? (Online dating) You think that's a great place to start?I don't think there's anything wrong with the dating app, you know, as far as a good place to start. Ashley Jenkins[05:57] Do you guys think both parties can chase their dreams at the same time?I believe both, both people can chase their dreams, and entrepreneurship at the same time. Charles Jenkins[07:05] What did that look like? For you guys? Like, what if you had to give us summarization of who was chasing their dreams? And who kind of had to take the backseat while the other person chase their dreams? To go back to our situation, personally, like Charles actually had a business before I did. So he had his own auto glass business. And so then it shifted to now I have the business and he's working. And so I think it changed for us with seasons, like it was his season, at one time because of the finances, but we just expressed like, we just don't have it where we can both pursue it at the same time. So we've both had our opportunities to support each other. [09:48] How does that work when you're trying to raise young children and still chase your dream and your relationship?Giving each other that time to get away and then work on yourselves is important for you have to be able to get those things done. Charles Jenkins[11:51] Is there anything else before I let you tell my audience how to find you guys?Just forgive. Remember why you said your I do. And I hope that y'all like each other on those days when that love tank is not as full as it was when you got married. - Ashley.Don't give up on what you want to do or doesn't think you can't do something just because you know you look a certain way or you don't have something. Charles [13:34] Ep. 8: Mentorship in a Black Community: Interview with Dr. Monique Jones[14:00] If you wanted the audience to know anything about you, what would you want them to know about you, Dr. Jones?I am a product of my environment. Born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi, I went to Jackson public schools here. I went to high school at Jackson State University for an undergrad and for my doctoral degree as well. [14:56] What's your definition of a mentor?A mentor is someone that someone looks up to. It can be in a pr
How You Can Chase Your Dreams While in A Relationship with Charles and Ashley Jenkins Pursuing your dreams in a relationship or marriage can seem daunting, but it's not impossible. It's like a puzzle with many pieces that have to fit together in order to make it work. Many couples want to do it, but without communication and support from each other, no one will make it to the other side. Your partner may not see your vision the way you see it, and this makes communication key, and it's never a one-way conversation. Planning and supporting each other's dreams and passions will help you grow, achieve your goals and make your marriage stronger. Join the conversation with Charles and Ashley Jenkins, who are chasing their dreams and trying to build their business while raising a family and making sure they have time for each other. In the episode, they share their career path and entrepreneurial journey to provide you with practical tools to plan your future, build your business and achieve your goals while raising a family. How well you invest, makes a huge difference to your financial future and lifestyle. If you only knew where to invest for the long-term, what a difference it would make, because the difference between investing $100k and earning 2% or 10% on your money over 30 years, is the difference between it growing to $181,136 or $1,744,940, an increase of over $1.5 million dollars.
