This serves as a reality check for Brie who realizes that she has to put more effort into her marriage and they both need to spend more quality time alone with one another. Meanwhile, back home in Phoenix, Artem surprises both Nikki and Brie and reveals that his parents will be joining them on their trip to France. The cadets have graduated from Basic Training, but the Bellweather Unit appears to be the only one not advancing to War College. Instead, upon Khalida's insistence, they accompany Adil (Tony Giroux) and General Alder (Lyne Renee) on a mission to rescue the remaining Tarim. Meanwhile, Anacostia (Demetria McKinney) makes another attempt to understand what motivates Scylla (Amalia Holm), which culminates in the two sharing similar stories of how they found their respective sides after the loss of their parents. After deploying in the Tarim basin, the Bellweather Unite have a heated conversation with Alder, who defends her seemingly questionable decisions as the ever-present challenge of leadership while sharing her own tragic history. Reaching their destination the following day, Alder convinces Tally her efforts are to save wtichkind and better the world, not seize power. Raelle heals a sick child, which convinces the Tarim to follow the soldiers outside, but they are ambushed by the Camarilla. They burn the helicopter pilots at the stake and initiate a gruesome fight, which wounds one of Alder's Biddies, leaving Tally to offer her youth to Alder in order to keep her alive. As everyone boards the last helicopter, Raelle attempts to once again save the stragling child but is stabbed through the back with a sword and left for dead. Abigail bails in an effort to save Raelle as the chopper takes off but the two are somehow saved by the sickness which Raelle had removed. Finally, Anacostia helped Scylla escape imprisonment, but follows her into the private sector and to the Spree hideout where Raelle's presumed-dead mother has been giving the orders. Sweet Magnolias: Episode 6: All Best Intentions Everyone's best intentions go awry! Cal’s intentions for Maddie conflicts with how Ty views their relationship. Erik’s intentions to help others results in him seeking help himself. Ty’s intention is to keep what happened with Annie a secret, but when it's exposed she blames Ty! Annie wakes up the next day, remembers kissing Ty and is horrified to hear the audio text she sent Ty. She runs into him after church wanting to clear the air but he avoids her. At school, it’s gotten around how drunk she got and has to deal with people whispering behind her back. Ty shares what happened with Annie with his friend Gabe and plays him the audio. While they’re talking Jackson gets a hold of Ty’s phone and ends up sending the audio text to the baseball team. Ty texts Annie “thought you should” know and Annie is furious. Ty comes over and the two of them argue. She blames Ty saying this all could have been avoided if he’d just talked to her instead of avoiding her. She lies and tells him the kiss didn’t mean anything and kicks him out of her house. Maddie tells Ty she’s going to dinner with Cal, and meets with Tyler’s disapproval. Maddie and Cal go on their first date and everything is perfect until she gets a call from Bill. The kids had come over to he and Noreen’s for dinner with disastrous results. When Maddie finds out Bill and Noreen ask the kids to be in their wedding, she is furious with Bill. Ty is upset most of all. She and Ty have a heart to heart conversation. Maddie makes it clear she supports whatever Ty wants or doesn’t want to do about being in the wedding. Erik’s intentions to help others have resulted in him experiencing bouts of PTSD. We see him attend a meeting for those suffering from PTSD, realizing he needs help. When Isaac hints at knowing about Erik’s past Erik confronts him wanting to know why he’s digging around his past. An upset Isaac confesses he thought Erik might be his father. Erik tells him in no uncertain terms to stop digging around in his past and that he has no children. Plus, writer and co-EP Shelley Meals, and actors Anneliese Judge (Annie Sullivan) and Dion Johnstone (Erik Whitley) join the after show! Shelley Meals talks about writing the angst, teenage and otherwise, that humanizes all the characters. Sweet Magnolias: Episode 4: Lay It All Down The town’s gossip mill starts churning over Maddie “canoodling” with her new friend, Dana Sue suffers a health scare and Helen’s past pays her a visit in the most unlikely way  A shirtless Cal outside of Maddie’s house has set the rumor mill in Serenity on fire! Cal airs his concerns to Maddie about all the talk in town, particularly because he doesn’t want anything to send Maddie scurrying in the opposite direction. Fortunately, Maddie’s gossip shield has been well honed over the years and she brushes the gossip off.  It’s clear she likes Cal and isn’t going to let gossip inform her feelings. It’s another story though when her son Ty gets wind of something abrew between the coach and his mother. He confronts her and she makes it clear that nothing is going on between her and coach Cal. And IF something does, Ty will be the first to know.  The pressures on Dana Sue reach a climax when she collapses in her kitchen in front of her staff and Helen. Chef Erik immediately goes into action, taking her vitals and telling a terrified Helen to call 911. Later at the hospital, as Erik waits on news, Helen comes out to tell him she’ll be ok thanks to him. When she asks Erik how it is he knows exactly what to do he brushes it off raising questions in Helen’s mind about Erik Whitley and his past.  Meanwhile, Dana Sue takes a hard look at her health and how she’s coping, or not coping, with the pressures in her life. Her daughter Annie is clearly shaken by the possibility of losing her mother and Dana Sue begins reconnecting with what makes her feel strong, which has always been cooking, while struggling to allow the people who love her to help her. A tornado by the name of Ryan Whinset blows back into Helen’s life after a 14 year absence. Helen’s first love, and Francis Whinset’s nephew, has an issue with his aunt’s house being sold to Helen and the renovations to turn it into The Corner Spa. He’s flown from San Francisco to tell her in person along with possible legal action to prohibit her from doing further renovations. Helen is furious and goes toe to toe with him making it clear she won’t stand for him interfering when he doesn’t have all the facts. When Ryan’s aunt Francis calls him on his behavior it becomes clear that his returning to Serenity has nothing to do with her and the house and everything to do with Helen. A poignant moment between Helen and Ryan, in the house that holds memories of their blossoming love so many years ago, ignites the power of a first love; One that you never really got over and one that you never really let go of.  Plus, from the writer’s village, Francesca Butler and actor Michael Shenefelt (Ryan Wingate) join the after show! Sweet Magnolias: Episode 5: Dance First Think Later Mother nature, a clumsy carpenter, and Maddie’s long-time rival seem to join forces to derail the spa's opening. Tyler helps Annie when she gets in over her head. Months of hard work are about to pay off as the grand opening of The Corner Spa finally arrives! But mother nature, an unforeseen accident, and petty rivalries threaten to stall or cancel the opening all together. Helen, Dana Sue and Maddie band together and call on the help of friends to get the doors opened in time. At The Corner Spa opening some surprise guests thrill the ladies while others stir up painful memories. Helen has made sure the opening coincides with Frances Winset’s birthday and it’s a beautiful celebration of heritage, legacy and new beginnings. Maddie and Cal share a dance and Helen and Ryan take their relationship to the next level. On the other side of town, Mary Vaughn is purposely holding her fundraiser on the same evening as the spa’s opening to raise money for the Serenity highschool baseball team so they can go to the finals. The fundraiser for Ty’s baseball team is a success with Paula winning an auction for a date with coach Cal, and Bill winning the night with making a large donation that will get the team to the finals in style. The kids follow up the night with an after party of their own at the highschool gymnasium. Annie is feeling out of place and gets convinced by Ce Ce to have a drink that turns into more than one. Fortunately, Ty comes to his friend's rescue and makes sure a very drunk Annie gets home safely. But after she kisses him and falls asleep, which throws him for a loop, he’s really wigged out when later, still drunk, Annie texts him gushing about the kiss. Ty is freaked out at these turn of events. He’s known her all his life and doesn’t know how to handle what has happened. Six years after a world climate crisis, most of what's left of the population has ended up on one train. Nikki’s pregnancy test is negative and Artem’s reaction shocks her! Artem is ready for a future with Nikki but she seems to be on a different page. While Devi is still reeling from last night's events, Kamala is preparing to meet Prishant for the first time. Nilani is on her toes as her brother Arvin comes to visit as well. With Scylla in their hands, Alder and Anacostia try their best to get information about the spree. As they try to break the her, the healers use their powers for good to help a fellow witch. Their surgery doesn't go as planned but Raelle may be the cure they need. Abigail rallies the unit together to help the witch and we see how powerful the unit is. Amazed at the young witch's miraculous recovery, Alder attempts to learn some of her skills but she's not as convincing as she thinks. The unit explores new love interests and revisits old ones but are forced to put them aside when danger arises on the base. In the SERIES FINALE of Empire, Bossy Fest goes down and things get wild. The unit has conflicting goals for attending the Bellweather wedding; Abagail as arranged an opportunity to impress the Dean of the War College, Raelle wants to attend socially with Scylla at her side, and Tally is hopeful of seeing Gerit. Arriving to the wedding, each are surprised to find Scylla, who had disguised herself as a member of the catering staff. Abagail presents her unit, with Scylla in tow, to General Bellweather but fails to meet her mother's high expectations, furthering Abagail's insistence they be at their best when the time comes to meet the Dean. After a lovely ceremony, Tally finds Gerit and takes him away to reunite and confess love for one another, though he is troubled with conflict that soon is revealed in the form of a publicly announced betrothal to someone else. Unfortunately, this is when the Dean of the War College arrives to meet the unit which immediately falls apart. Tally has fled to be alone in a nearby bathroom when Scylla enters, thinking she is alone, and communicates with the increasingly demanding Spree. Shaken, Tally exits to share this information with Anacostia while Scylla dances with Raelle, who are also confessing their love for one another. Meanwhile, Abagail discovers her cousin, the bride, murdered in the bathtub and is attacked by two more Spree disguised as catering staff, all before a swarm of balloons floats in over the wedding party. Thankfully, the many officers present protect everyone from the balloons, save for General Bellweather who went looking for and rescued her daughter, yet everyone present is visibly shaken by the event.
