How did support for same-sex marriage grow so much in a relatively short space of time? What steps did it take to have equal marriage written into law? Why is marriage equality important and what does it mean to LGBTQ+ married or engaged individuals? In our new Ipsos UK podcast, our Ipsos UK PRIDE Network colleagues Eileen Irvin, Zac Forman, Chris Hutchings and Jessica Wrage discuss the 10th anniversary of equal marriage in the UK as part of LGBTQ+ History Month. We look at Ipsos research that sheds a light on how much attitudes have changed on this issue over the years and then look at how public support drove changes to the law. Finally, the panel discusses their personal experiences of what same-sex marriage means to them to showcase why marriage equality is one of the defining moments of the LGBTQ+ rights movement. Have a listen to find out why equal marriage was and remains so special.

In this episode, I'm excited to welcome Chris Hutchings of eOpinion onto the podcast. Chris started eOpinion back in 2015 and always thought it forever be a side hustle. Bringing in a bit of extra cash each month, instead of his sole focus. Being torn between an excellent job, and eOpinion growing and demanding more time. Chris had to make a tough choice and pick between them. So glad he picked the side hustle. We discuss the positives, and negatives Chris has experienced with eOpinion. We also touch upon how personal branding helps you promote a side hustle, and how it can be a fine balancing act. Between being true to who you are, or turning into a "product". Thanks to Chris Hutchings for being a guest on the podcast. It was an honour and a privilege. See how you can get involved at kickitout.org. 2021 is supposed to be better than 2020. It’s not like the bar was particularly high but we’ve definitely stumbled out of the blocks this January. With COVID infection rates rising, and Saints’ 3rd Round FA Cup match postponed, for now, Chris Hutchings (@hutchfm on Twitter) joined the show to peel back the layers to the onion Ralph cut last week against LFC, as well as the impact of COVID, the youngsters, and the transfer window. As always, let us know what you think. The rollercoaster ride that is following Saints is here, and we experienced it all this week. Our emotions followed the team up and down as Saints lost to Arsenal in disappointing fashion, keeping the home form intact, and then went on the road to HAND Watford a defeat and take all three points back to St. Mary’s. Saints now sit on 40 points. Closer to 7th than 17th (though other teams have games to come later this week), and we can be relatively confident in how the team responded to the performance against Arsenal. This week I am joined by two guests, Chris Hutchings spoke with me on Friday morning to relive Arsenal and talk about the experience of being in the ground when then doors are closed and seeing Premier League football without a crowd. We also discuss the match, which wasn’t that great. Luckily, Chris is. You can follow him on Twitter @HutchFM. I then caught up with Jay Grant who runs the partner page of the show, the Southampton Page, on Twitter and Instagram. We had the pleasure of reliving the win at Watford, the performance of some of the rotated players, and we also discussed what we expect to see against City. We recorded on the final whistle and were, understandably, excited. At least we finished on a high! We look back on how he became a fan, how he began commentating, escorting fans from around the world around St. Mary’s, and working for OPTA. We also discuss the likelihood of Hojbjerg leaving, what that means for the team, Project Restart, football without fans, and more. More than anything, it was just a fantastic opportunity to spend some time learning about Chris and his connection with the club. I’m finding more and more during this COVID19 break that the people who support and work around the club, and their stories, are, at least to me, more interesting, rewarding, and engaging than complaining about a misplaced pass or Cedric’s lack of back-post defending. I hope you enjoy the show. You can get in touch with Chris to talk football, stats, or anything else, @hutchfm on Twitter.
