In 1989, shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall, Nina was on the street outside her workplace when she was approached by a man identifying himself as a police officer. He said that he needed to take her in for questioning in regard to her boyfriend, which made sense given the people her boyfriend was involved with at the time. She got into the police car, and as they drove through the streets of Berlin, she had a terrible feeling something was not right.Warning: This series covers many different difficult topics; sex trafficking, violence, assault and abuse.
In Part 2 of Beyond The Wall, Nina returns to her body and finds herself still held captive, in a new location and severely injured after an unknown amount of time has passed. In these crucial moments between life and death, she uses her intuition, the supernatural experience she just had, and memories of the 1984 BBC detective series "Miss Marple" to make a harrowing escape. Warning: This series covers many different difficult topics; sex trafficking, violence, assault and abuse.
A dying patient speaks of impossible places no uneducated man should be able to imagine, pushing one young doctor toward an experiment that could shatter everything he believes about the sleeping mind. What answers await beyond ordinary consciousness—and what might still be searching the night sky when the experiment is over? Beyond the Wall of Sleep by H. P. Lovecraft. That's next on The Lost Sci-Fi Podcast. We spend a lot of time thinking about the stories, the pacing, and giving each character a distinct voice. So this review on Apple Podcasts US from “California listeners” really hit home: “Perfectly narrated science fiction stories! Wonderful range of voices that bring each character to life, narrator with clear enunciation and pleasant resonance.” Thanks California!! It's gratifying to know those details are noticed. Thank you for listening! We hadn't planned to deliver any H. P. Lovecraft stories on the podcast, but you've made your voices heard. The requests just keep coming, so we're happy to bring you more of the Lovecraft tales you've been asking for. This story was first published in the amateur publication Pine Cones in October 1919 just a few months after it was written. Almost 20 years later it appeared in the March 1938 issue of Weird Tales magazine on page 331, Beyond the Wall of Sleep by H. P. Lovecraft… Next on The Lost Sci-Fi Podcast, A world that should have bloomed again instead slips beyond reach, leaving one visitor to wonder whether the greatest mistake was made long before humans ever arrived. As forgotten clues begin to fit together, an unsettling possibility emerges that no one is prepared to face. Translator's Error by Charles Dye. Beyond the Wall | Acts 11What kind of church will we become? In Acts 11, Peter returns to Jerusalem expecting celebration after God moved powerfully among the Gentiles. Instead, he's met with criticism. While lives were being changed, some were more concerned with traditions than transformation. This message challenges every believer with three powerful questions:• Will we build walls… or build bridges?• Will we protect our preferences… or pursue people?• Will we receive grace… or become grace?Jesus didn't tear down the walls of division so we could rebuild them. He tore them down so His Church could become a bridge, connecting people to hope, healing, and the life-changing love of Christ. As the Gospel spread from Jerusalem to Antioch, we see that God's mission was never meant to stop with us. Grace that is received should become grace that is given. Revival isn't just something we experience, it's something we carry into the lives of others.Whether you're new to faith or have followed Jesus for years, this message will challenge you to move beyond comfort, beyond tradition, and beyond the wall to live out the mission of Christ.*"The world doesn't need another church that's debating the mission. It needs a church that's living the mission."*If this message encouraged you, be sure to like this video, subscribe to the channel, and share it with someone who needs the hope of Jesus today.

Beyond the Wall | Tullian Tchividjian | "Religionless, Part 5"Acts 10:1-16 NLT
What does it take to reach your breaking point and keep going anyway? What does it take to confront the limits of your body, your mind, and your comfort, and still refuse to quit?In Beyond the Wall: Pushing Past Your Limits, we explore one of the deepest truths about personal growth. Real transformation does not happen in easy seasons. It happens when you willingly step into the hard things, trust God through the struggle, and keep moving when everything in you wants to stop. This episode follows the journey of CBA Support Center team members Mike Simmons, Brad Fink, and Cameron Giddings as they joined a group of brothers to take on the Rattler 50K Ultramarathon in Burnet, Texas. Over six hours of rocky terrain, steep climbs, scorching sun, and rising heat pushed every runner to confront exhaustion, pain, and self doubt. The race became a real time lesson in endurance and faith. You will hear how Mike took a hard fall on the trail, hit the ground, regrouped through pain, and kept pressing forward. You will hear how Manny battled severe calf cramps and still pushed to mile 20. You will hear how Freddy fought heat exhaustion and hallucinations but refused to give up. You will hear how Brad trained harder than anyone but reached a point where his body physically failed, yet with full humility and pride in his brothers, he stood at the finish line cheering with joy. These moments reveal the heart of brotherhood. Support. Encouragement. A shared grit that binds people together when the trail gets rough. This race was not about finishing first. It was about finishing with purpose. Every step carried a deeper meaning rooted in faith, discipline, and belief that growth lives on the other side of hardship.Through this story, the episode breaks down some of the most important lessons we can learn about life and leadership.• How to keep moving when your strength feels gone.• Why pain often signals the beginning of transformation.• Why God does some of His strongest work when you feel the weakest.• How brotherhood and community can carry you through the hard seasons that are too heavy to walk alone.• Why the moments that break you open often become the moments that rebuild you stronger. This is not a running story. This is a life story. It is about finding out who you are when comfort is stripped away. It is about leaning on faith when fear begins to rise. It is about understanding that the wall you hit is not the end of your journey but the starting point of who you are becoming. No matter what your personal wall looks like, this episode will challenge you to take the next step. And then the next. And then another. Small, faithful steps that build strength over time.Because growth does not happen before the wall. It happens when you break through it. Today on the 5: The latest selection in the Club Twit book club was Those Beyond The Wall by Micaiah Johnson. I read it, and it was one of the more memorable books in how clear the themes and messaging of the author are presented.

Send us a textHolly and Marty speak with science fiction author Micaiah Johnson about her absolutely incredible 'Ashtown' duology. This isn't really an episode about the Multiverse so much as it is about the deeply human and social themes in Micaiah's books, whose writing is laden with literary pearls and deeply human insights about complex characters, social and economic structures, and the interplay between science and spirituality. She uses science fiction as a lightning rod for discourse of social dynamics, power and justice, privilege and grace and ambition. We talk about choosing your monsters, the vacuous rich and the authenticity of the poor, community care, and crying from beauty, with stories about allowing people the chance to to love you in the way that you love them, and how giving and receiving are two sides of the same miracle.https://www.micaiahjohnson.com/Email: thescienceinthefiction@gmail.comFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/743522660965257/
In this episode, we delve into the fascinating world of Sol LeWitt's wall drawings. We will explore questions of ownership, and authenticity. The Carnegie Institute in Pittsburgh owns one of these monumental works, but if they move and "recreate" the piece in another location, Is it the same work of art? We will also consider the authenticity if we were to recreate the piece ourselves. Join us on our discussion as we further explore what makes original art.

Donate to Personal Landscapes. Eighties movies portrayed East Germany as a vast open-air prison populated by monotonous grey blurs without individuality or agency, but the GDR was not a static land that time forgot. Katja Hoyer's brilliant book Beyond The Wall tells its story through the lives of ordinary people. She also grapples with the ongoing tension between a Germany that sees the GDR as an aberration, and the desire of East Germans to hold on to their memories of a life they lived in colour. We spoke about daily life in East Germany, why the Berlin Wall reduced political tensions, and why tinned soup became a modern political controversy.

In 1980, Dalkey United went on a football trip to Germany which ended up in East Berlin. A certain economist, festival director and once under 13s centre half was on that schoolboy trip and so began a lifelong fascination with all things East German. Less than ten years after that Dalkey Utd. trip, the country vanished. In her wonderful book, Katja Hoyer argues that amid oppression and frequent hardship, East Germany was home to a rich political, social and cultural landscape, a place far more dynamic than the Cold War caricature often painted in the West. This is one for cold war anoraks, communist nostalgists and the odd few intrepid ones who always know there's more to the story of any country than first meets the eye.
